The EX89™ sneaker blends the heritage influences of the GEL-EXTREME basketball shoe from 1989 with modern cushioning properties. It was originally created by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 1980s as his first design project with ASICS. The upper’s layered leather construction is also met with spirited colour blocking that matches the era’s iconic NBA team uniforms. We updated the sockliner and midsole with FF BLAST™ cushioning. These technologies are met with a sculpted heel shape to improve shock absorption during everyday scenarios. The outsole’s layout is meant to mirror the view of a city from the sky. This functional grip feature was initially inspired by the designer’s first business trip to the United States in 1987.

      MUUUUUUUSSSSTTTAAARRRRRRRRDDDDDD

      • Turn his TV off!

  • How heavy are these?

    • Pretty heavy. For every 30 shoes they make, one Bangladeshi child loses their hand in the rubber plantation :(

Omg, I don't care what inspired the design but IT IS UGLY 🤢

    • +6

Any chance you can link an example what you consider a good looking shoe?

      • +4

Let me guess, AF1 07 in triple white

        • +4

          No it's Dunk Panda

          • @foxes28: Drunk Pandas are so lame. Go home Drunk Pandas.

        • -2

AF1 is triple the price and isn't a fair comparison. But even a basic Adidas $50 running shoes looks better. Especially their cream -white- brown combination 🤮

        • Amazing - I had these and the orange pair. 10 years later and I really regret selling most of my gl3/glv from that era.

      • -3

Even these basic ones, and you pick the most garish colours, are heaps better. https://jade-wattle.com/products/men-s-performance-running-s…

IMO they are pretty gross and daggy. Yuk

You would get life no parole if the fashion police found you

          HOKZ lmao, fake hoka's

I do kind of like the new thick foam super shoes, but i prefer the old flatter low heeled style.

        • $80 for Temu Hoka's? You having a laugh?

        • Wowsers that's a poor choice.

        • I refuse to believe this is a legitimate suggestion lmfao

  • -3

    What width are they?

    • +4

if the width is not listed, you can safely assume they are standard width

anyway i think this style is too junior for someone of your seniority

      • It would be better if they would just list it as ASICS have different widths, as do New Balance.

      • too junior for someone of your seniority

        I have a youthful sole

      ASICS Shoe Widths

The standard (medium) width for women is B, while the standard width for men is D. Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

If it doesn’t say anything like 2E @beltdrive is right it’s standard.

      • the standard width for men is D

only if you have pigeon feet…

      • for women is B, while the standard width for men is D.

        and for unisex shoes ?????

        • the width guide is right below the size guide for your reference

          • @doobey1231: There is no standard width for unisex shoes.

Personally these are cool, $60 for one is a steal

    • +1

Agree. Bought a pair. Just spent 3 months travelling SEA in my ASICS which held up beautifully but dirty AF. Min cost in Asia is about $250 AUD for any ASICS. Every other manufacturer is always on sale and can be bought cheap. But not ASICS.
Best brand of sport shoe IMO.

      • +1

Also need to add that my current pair are 12 years old. These shoes last.

        • +1

yep mine are getting nearly there.. bought at the end of 2014 and still going.. I moved away from Nike and Addidas and have never bough anything else other then ASICS since then.. one of the most comfortable shoes that are built to last.

  • +1

I have a pair of these and they're super comfy. A little heavy but I'm a big fan.

    thanks OP, snagged a pair

  • Am I colour blind or does that brown look like pink to me??
