Greg, you do realise your clientele base will take big hits if you continue to operate like this.
I for one will make sure all my staff members tell there mates not to your use your business going forward after 2 failed attempts at this.
I'm well aware and have an enormous job now to fix it. I can assure you no one in their right mind would deliberately make a mistake like this and have to deal with this amount of negativity about the brand. I guarantee all data will be deleted/purged. The problem is the code was not generated by a back-end but hardcoded in the Javascript. That's a massive mistake.
However I was interested in trying them anyway, so will bite on the 50% off.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we had a tech issue whereby a $29 code which was meant to be unique, was created but was not unique.
The code was posted to a few coupon sites and we had an enormous volume of orders come through. Far more than our marketing budget had allowed for :(
This is our bad and lesson learnt. Unfortunately, we simply cannot afford to honour free pairs so have to cancel your order.

It's not the companies fault ozbargain exploited them. The underwear are great and worth the price. I won a pair legitimately on the wheel but have just purchased for 50% off as it's still a good deal.

That’s my thoughts as well. They’re going really harsh on Greg. I have a really strong 6th sense and this is telling me that it was just a glitch in the system. Nothing was made deliberately. We have to support businesses at times like this. It’s just a pair of undies. I mean who wears them anyways? 😂

Business is tough. Its a dog eat dog world out there. Make a mistake? Honor the orders made and fire the culprit.
Strongly disagree. Have some heart. Someone who made an honest mistake shouldn’t be fired just because you don’t get a free pair of underwear.
an "honest mistake". My local coffee shop got my orders wrong worth $50 and they completely replaced everything for me. Its high time consumers start getting what they deserve for their time. I'm in marketing. We triple check everything before launching campaigns - this is not just an "honest mistake" this is damage to the brand reputation. Good PR is to honour those orders. Rather than doing the latter at the expense of neg brand rep.
The difference in your example and this is that you paid $50 for the coffee.
In this case you didn’t pay anything, but instead knowingly exploited a code from a small business offering a fun promotion.

Ok so for what it's worth, for all the guys on here asking if the product is any good, the answer is yes. I've had mine now for almost 12 months and I won't wear anything else now.
They are however overpriced. The ads are cringeworthy and the only real benefit of getting them from step one directly is the choice of colours.

What's your deal? You seem very heavily invested. Using a publicly available code given out by them to sign up for a freebie is hardly defrauding. This is an absolutely common thing for companies to do. In return they have our data and a new customer with the possibility of future sales.
Their mistake borderlines on stupidity. Just because they accidentally messed up does NOT make the rest of us fraudsters.
I accept it was a mistake and they'll purge my data and that's really all there is to it.
After the statement I don't believe this is a marketing ploy. It seems they messed up with the coding for the promo and didn't invest enough towards IT. This keeps happenning regularly on ozbargain where everyone jumps on these freebies that were meant for a specific group of people, maybe we shouldnt be allowing these posts anymore.

What does Shopify have to do with anything? Sure their store runs on Shopify but that means nothing at all. Are we now going to blame the data center their server is located in? The simple fact of the matter is their code which apparently should generate unique codes, never did generate unique codes because it's a single hard coded coupon code in a JavaScript file. The fault if their own and they have now lied about what happened.

The store didn't actually post this on ozbargain. Someone worked out a hack that people used knowing that it was a hack. The store responded. Not sure what else they should have done?

The store couldn't have dealt with both issues in any kinder fashion. Anyone who was seriously considering being a genuine customer in future would take a pair for $15. Why should they fund the freeloaders on this site who originally tried to exploit their promo? Different story if they sent this promo to everyone then realised they couldn't fund it

Why is everyone tearing strips off him? It was clearly a coding error, meant to be a bit of fun - incentive to have a spin and check out the product. He has said they will delete all the data and has given everyone a 50% off code. I think it's a little unfair to be tearing into him the way some people are. Mistakes happen! And to be fair, the last time this happened it wasn't as simple as entering a code - you had to do some sneaky cart & order sequence to get them.
Yeah they mucked up, but I don't think was a ploy to get all your details or flood you with ads. I think some of you should take off your tin foil hats and calm down - not everyone is out to exploit you.

The wheel works as intended though. The JavaScript file has a hard coded coupon code and their claim that it is supposed to generate a unique code is bs.

I don't think the person organising it though would've intended for that to happen. I am only speculating, but I would think it was meant to be all unique codes.
How much do they pay you? I assume you prefer to pay full price which is why you're on ozbargain?
