  • Is this one better than ATH M50X for tracking?

    • +2

Mids are flat and bass is excellent on these with a mild sub-bass boost, treble doesn't hold up quite as much (and is slightly brighter than neutral) but it's still great for the price point. There's a dip at 4kHz, but that's apparently filled in by the pinna interaction.

These are very close to Harman recommendations, so that's a consideration for your final mix, but for a closed back it should present as a natural in timbre and tonality with great imaging and staging.

Definitely an upgrade on the M50X, and competitive with an EQ'd DT770 or DT880 Pro. In this price range, if you want a reference point closed back that can also double for casual listening on every device you can throw at it, this is it.

  • K361 is also available at $144.37 + $18.17 Delivery (Free with Prime).

But K361 has been as cheap as $159 Delivered locally so that would be a better bet due to concerns about the build quality of this series as reflected in the reviews.

Those were QC issues that AKG resolved with both models, but I honestly wouldn't bother with the K361.

It's a nice headphone, but there are products like the Takstar Pro 82 that reasonably compete with it at half the price via AliE sales (with coupons and cashbacks). They're not identical products and sound signature, but competent and similar enough that it's hard to justify the extra $50-$70 without reaching further $20-$30 further for the K371.

I have these, can confirm they are of great build and sound quality, and do very well on a seperate dac/amp or even from your phone. Only let down is the cables that comes with it. One is way too long, other is way too short, and last is pigtailed and presses into your neck no matter how you straighten it. Budget for a new mini xlr cable.

Bass hits deep, is very flat through mid, and has great detail in treble, couldnt reccomend it more for the price.

Don't buy. These Samsung headphones are not that good.

Despite AKG now being manufactured by Samsung, it's ironic that these headphones are only really suited for use with Apple devices. That's because they only work with the SBC (low quality) or AAC (supported by Apple) codecs. Most non-Apple phones work best with the higher-quality APT-X codec, that these headphones don't support.

The other bad thing about these headphones is that they require an old MicroUSB charger, when just about every phone these days uses a USB-C charger. It means that when you travel (or even when you go to work) you have to carry two different types of charger with you. Also, MicroUSB only does slow charging. Other brands of headphones that use USB-C offer fast charging.

I'd agree with other writers above that it's a bad combination to get these headphones - that have a reputation for poor build quality - from an overseas direct import website that offers no local warranty.

    • This is a wired headphone. No one is recommending the bluetooth versions.

The reason why the page is redirecting to the AKG K361-BT is because the AKG K371 went out of stock on Amazon UK.
