Awesome sound bar have had one for years with a sub and 2 x play 1's.

    • thats exactly what i just recently got for the bedroom, ex-demo models though. This is a good price for brand new.

  • the only issue i have after upgrading the tv to latest gen sony tv, audio control will not work with this sonos playbar anymore. Sony's latest remote is using bluetooth and obviously with optical connection to the playbar, it will not be able to pass the command through (that's why it uses infrared and is working fine for older tvs)

i got around it with an app so now bluetooth audio control is working, well not just bluetooth but also controlling it through google case/assistant too. but just a warning to other people who are looking to purchase this to connect to latest gen sony tv as this playbar does not have hdmi connection like arc does, so you might need this workaround to get it to work properly

    • Mate, I have exact same situation like you.
But I keep the old Sony remote which is working perfectly with the new TV + Sonos Playbar, obviously no voice command (I rarely use anyway) but in that case I'll use the new remote.

    • +1

I had that problem with a new Sony 9000, i just turned BT off i don't use it anyway.

    • Whats the app?

    • cant live without the voice command haha, so i need the bluetooth on, so i can say 'Movie time' and it dim the lounge lights and turn off other lights. The app address the issue, the only thing is it can only support 1 playbar. I request to add multiple playbar support so let's see if the dev will accommodate it

      • Tried the app got to screen that says your tv is being forwarded to your Sonos device, but stuck .

        • this is after loggin in? yeah thats it, now just adjust the volume on the tv using bluetooth, it should update your playbar too

          • @silverx: Got it working but the volume is all over the place 0 still has sound lol.

            • @[Deactivated]: you probably want to sync it up first, set tv to 0, and set sonos to 0 too. then it should be synced up from then on

              • @silverx: How with the remote and app?

                • @[Deactivated]: yeah set tv to 0 using remote, then use sonos app set it to 0 too

                  • @silverx: The sound changes behind, works fine with the app but all over the place with the Sony remote. Is their sound settings in the tv I am missing?

                    • @[Deactivated]: hmmm not that i remember, it's pretty straightforward. I think the app is listening to volume change on the tv and then set playbar volume to be the same. when you say all over the place, is the volume level out of sync between tv and sonos?

quick way to see if its working is adjust your tv volume and watch the sonos app, it should be adjusted as the tv volume is adjusted (with bit of lag, although sometimes noticeable)

@silverx: No worries thanks for your help.

  • awesome unit for this price, had one for about 5 years now and still going strong with no issues - plus the Arc is $1,399!

    • i know… really wanting arc though, just cant justify 2 playbar = 1 arc though

      • If you have the Sony 65” 9000 the arc is about 20mm too long to fit between the legs.

  • this or the Focal Soundbar from A2A for $600? hmm

    • This 100%

    • Focal Soundbar from A2A sold out.

  • I have this and the sub speaker, should I got for the 2x One for Surround Sound if I only watch netflix guys?

    • Surround speakers definitely add more dimension, I just enjoy to hear the sounds which suppose to coming from behind when watching (Netflix) movies.
Myself using cheaper Play1 as rear speakers since there are no advantages using One, but nothing wrong to use the One either.

    • yeah netflix movies (not all of them) have 5.1. as mentioned it does add more dimension to watching the movie, well at least for me. I am using play3 for my satellites but yeah play1 should suffice

    • Yes have had them for years on stands.

    • Alternatively get the Ikea symphonisk for the rear speakers.
