Airjo beating them to the punch

  • +1

Do these guys seem a bit off for anybody else? Their prices are incredibly high ($80/kg for a blend, really?) and their website is a storefront only. While there's nothing necessarily wrong with keeping it bare bones, having little to no info or communicating with the consumer about the business, the products or even where to find them outside of instagram is a bit odd.

    • +3

Have bought from them multiple times. I and everyone will agree that they're great. Only issue is slow delivery which is mainly attributable to Aus Post. The 80/kg blend is there limited ed. The rest of their offerings are $50-60/kg which you can have for $25-30/kg now, which for some reason you seem to have ignored?

      • +1

$50-60/kg for espresso blends is still expensive for an online-only business. Those prices are in the same realm as popular 3rd wave brands such as Padre, Market Lane, etc who all have a retail presence and charge a premium for their name/branding. Around $35/kg for a blend is where you see other online coffee outlets start their blend prices and that's without a huge discount.

If people are happy paying full RRP for these beans or just waiting to stock up when they're discounted down to more sane prices then power to them. I would hope they're enjoyable or else it'd be a shame to see so many people getting shafted. I just find the pricing and almost complete lack information about the business in a saturated market odd.

        • +1

Each to their own. I’m just saying from personal experience, this company is great. Don’t care if they haven’t told us everything about the company etc. Great coffee at $25/kg delivered. Hard to beat that. Your loss if you don’t get some.

          • @Phil22: The company is great or the product is great? They aren't the same thing. Hard to tell if the company is great when it's hard to find out a single thing about them. I'm not trying to be accusatory or stirring the pot here but if good tasting beans at the cheapest possible price is all that matters to someone then cool, this is OzBargain after all and cheapskates rule, but some people like to know a bit more about the products other than "it's good" and "it's cheap", especially when it comes to consumables in an industry rife with exploitation.
Like you said, each to their own.

            • @HeyThereJim: Both company and product are great. Not sure where your concern is coming from. Their Instagram is riddled with information. Some about sources of its beans. The fact that so many on OB have been pleased by their customer service and quality of coffee and also that they supply heaps of cafes is enough for me. I think you should trust the opinions of those who have actually made a purchase from them. It’s only been positive. You missed out IMO.

    • Vote with your wallet I guess?

I’ve bought from these guys plenty of times and will continue to do so.

  • Any recommendations for cold brew using the Harpo cold brew pot?

  • No Aeropress available unfortunately

Aeropress taken off again as of just now…. :(. This is before the coupon goes live, was there in stock 10 mins ago.

    • +1

      Terrible behaviour

    • Can't believe they do that again. Just write down exclude the Aeropress.

    • it's on there.

you need to type /shop at the end of the URL

  • Website frozen: Error establishing a database connection

I had stuff ready in My cart, But the 1kg sugar daddy is now gone.

    Plus website down?!!!! Lol

    • aw come one, I already have bought all their coffees, i just wanted to get the sugar daddy :(

    • -5

      Pretty pathetic move… fake sale.

      • well, sugar daddy was a limited edition coffee they did for father's day, so maybe they are just clearing old stock from that date

        • +2

it said 598 in stock when i aded it, at about 2.50pm

          • @redrooter99: ah, sorry, never noticed they showed stock on the site. shame on them then

            • @pichxlonco: Hehe yeah all the negs… 50% off site wide but they remove half the site before the sale begins? It's almost eBay sale tactics.

I would think the bigger bags had a bigger margin? Not sure on the logic there.

              • +1

@Pratty: yeah, strange. I mean, i've been buying from them for the last couple of sales and never had any issues (except the last aeropress "scandal", which i ended up buying from another place for $33). From my experience, they never seemed to do any of those shady sale tactics

            • @pichxlonco: i never got one, it went spaz from then….

  • "Error establishing a database connection"

        1hr15mins I can’t order anything, website DEAD

  • Anyone tried all the regular ozb coffee providers? Airjo, blue lime, inglewood etc

    • Tried Airjo. Pretty decent. Pity I missed their deal earlier today.
Wanted to give these guys a go, but that's twice I've missed out with these guys…

    • try lime blue, awesome attitude, great customer service, have a sale on at the moment, no shady tactics

  • +4

Just before it goes live they remove the aeropress from sale. Yeah that's bullshit, just trying to get some hype then when it comes to standing by their sale they pull the items and just leave the junk they want to get rid of. Even if I wanted their coffee, I'll be buying elsewhere. No point supporting this behaviour

    • Plus vote from me sir! Poor behaviour.

    • +5

Most people aren’t interested in the aeropress, just the coffee.

Leave the junk they want to get rid of

Seriously? Literally the whole store and all their coffee varieties that they make are 50% off (except for the limited ed that sold out). Your loss not getting their coffee. Just don’t regret it when the sale ends bc we probably won’t see it 50% off ever again.

      Also, we’ve got one!

Getting a generic error from their web host (WebFaction). Looks like they've been bean roasted?

    • +2

      burnt, me thinks.

  • Website back up, but issues with the DB connection upon Cart/checkout. Not sure if I should keep trying.

I noticed the main/shop pages have only a couple of blends, but the sale page has some blends and single origins.

    • Yep, even when I get in, it says the coupon code doesn't exist.

  • +1

To think we're almost into 2021 where websites still can't keep up during "sale events"

  • +1

    still database error for me…..crying

    • they posted on instagram they are working to solve it and that the sale will be from 5-9pm. Guess we need to wait a few more minutes.

  • Yep, all good if you want to do some coffee window shopping. Can't buy anything though. :-(

    • poop ill be at gym then…

  • +1

I mean it's technically a wordpress issue, not theirs. No need to get out the pitchforks guys.

    • Well, Wordpress typically doesn't break itself. Who knows what happened!

      • Ozb did mate.

    • +1

Not true. It’ll be the cheap servers. Wordpress is just the design of the site, not the host.

      • +1

Then the cheap servers it is. My point being that Inglewood isn't some big corporation that can afford a website host to cater to the type of traffic that Ozb brings. They're not even big enough to cater to the 100s of aeropresses that everyone want from them at a loss. Really people need to relax, this entitled pack mentality is ridiculous.

        • +1

No people want what they are promised. If they said 50% off coffee and overpriced clothing people wouldn't expect it off presses. The fact they advertised 50% off brewing equipment and then 1 minute before the sale removed all the brewing equipment from their site is the problem. They falsely advertised to get people on there with the hopes those people would just buy their other stuff while there. They never had any plans of selling the aeropresses.

          • @AndyRoo: 100%

          • @AndyRoo: 50% off store wide, not 50% off plus enough stock for anything and everything you and hundreds more may or may not want from our store.

If you expect a small chain coffee roasting business like them to have enough aeropresses to satisfy the masses, your disappointment is on you. They had a few available and it was snagged up quickly. Your attitude reeks of rancid coffee.

            • +1

@Jaystea: Which part of removed them just before the sale started don't you understand? You implying someone went online 5 minutes before the same and purchased all their stock at full price? Lol… I'd love to live in your world

              • @AndyRoo: Well clearly you hate your own right now LOL.

              • +1

@AndyRoo: Others got the aeropress. Check the comments. You were too late to the party

                • @Phil22: Different Aeropress. It’s the original in a bundle with coffee that people are getting. Aeropress Go was removed prior to sale beginning.

    • +1

Eh, it's not really a WordPress issue - that's what the site's using as a CMS, not what's actually being used to host it. Without knowing the full issue (though the influx of OzB traffic is probably contributing towards it), we can only assume the bottleneck is coming from the hosting or poor coding practices from the developer of the site. It's using WordPress 5.2.4 and WooCommerce 3.7.1 which were both released back in Oct, 2019 and have both received numerous security/performance updates since (i.e., the site has been built but neglected in terms of updates).

WebFaction (the folks hosting the site) is owned by GoDaddy - not exactly a surprise that the site is down. After all, there's only so much juice you can squeeze out of an already dried-up lemon.

    BOOOOOO

The “sugar daddy” In all shapes and sizes has VANISHED.

  • +1

The salt from everyone re: "removing stock and only selling stuff they want to get rid of" (as if they didn't want to get rid of branded hoodies and sweaters), meanwhile got myself another Aeropress.

Thanks for the salt everyone, it feeds me in being quick on the deal

  • Finally got an order through, 500g of Sugar Daddy - I'd added it to my cart a few hours ago so I managed to check out, but the blend doesn't seem to be in store anymore so we'll see what happens.

    • +1

I have a basket with Sugar Daddy in it, but the code isn't being accepted for that cart. Are you sure you got the discount?

      • I paid $20 for 500g, pretty sure the code was accepted since it was $40 originally. Unless I duped myself, haha. My payment went through but I haven't gotten an order confirmation email yet, so maybe it'll bounce
