While certainly not the lowest (previously $268.42) it is still cheaper than the Amazon AU price for a 10tb which is ($329.91). White labelled drive and might be filled with Helium or Air1 and won't be a Red inside, not SMR. May require tape mod.

What's SMR? Refer to smashman42 explanation here

  1. Sign Up for a Western Digital account (if you do not have one)
  2. Once signed into the site go to https://support-en.wd.com/app/account/profile or just click "Update your Profile"

Summary Require Correct Power Adapter
Description Hello, I recently purchased the WD 10TB Elements Desktop External HDD through Amazon.com.au however the item came with a UK type power adapter. Could you I please receive an AU type adapter for this drive. Thank you. My Address Information: [List your address]
  • Western Digital support are really good at responding to your enquiries and will send out the correct power adapter for free but expect a longer wait time due to COVID-19. I know pre-COVID it was delivered within 10-14 days.

  1. Based on user feedback on other sites it is possible these drives are not helium filled

For the support request, I would also add in your contact number so they will process your request the first time around.

  • Why not get yesterday's Seagate 10tb for 280something instead?

For the14TB deal, I’m just wondering if that’s CMR or SMR?
Is WD better when it comes to being CMR?

I bought 8TB from Amazon couple of weeks ago for 204 and don't need anymore. It's still in original package and sealed (arrived 2 days ago and I haven't opened it). Happy to sell it for $180 if anyone in Brisbane needs one.

      Sorry, this one sold

  • I have the same one (3tb) that died on me without any reasons after 2 years. Since then I have avoided WD.

I have bad experience with seagate but all my ancient WD drives still work, I guess personal experience shouldn't always become the proof/deciding factor due to the sample size literally being "one" single case but you do it, I do it, everyone does it.

  • So regards the power adapter, what is the process for getting a proper one? And you contact WD Australia? What do you tell them? You got it from Amazon Australia and it came with a UK PSU?

      1. I ordered the product on Amazon
      2. Received the product with a UK adaptor
      3. I called WD Australia up, but somehow got forwarded to WD US.
      4. Told WD US I ordered it on Amazon and received a UK adaptor when I needed an Australian one. I had to provide them with the device ID on the back of the product.
      5. They took down the details and forwarded the support ticket to WD Australia to fulfil.
      6. WD Australia then shipped out an Australian adaptor to me free of charge.

After lodging a ticket with WD, beware of a scam that can occur a few days later asking for your credit card details!
DON'T PROVIDE ANY CREDIT CARD DETAILS TO WD!!!
This happened to me and the scammer tried to get my credit card details.
There seems to be a leak inside WD https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/580520#comment-9615677
