First post be nice.

I had tried to purchase this SSD from Amazon before before but wouldn't deliver internationally, had no problems purchasing it today for whatever reason. Don't know how long it will last.

OCZ has an international 3 year warranty i believe but you have to pay for postage which is worth noting as it could end up costing a bit.

Thought this was a good deal for a good SSD. Postage to Albury NSW was about $6.54
Cheapest on staticice was $250 + postage

  • Just be careful with these drives; I've heard bad things about this iteration of the SandForce controller and I'm not sure if they've resolved it yet.

    • I think the 3rd generation is fine. I have a Agility 3 and it has been working fine for 9 months, but my friend's vertex 2 just died. <$200 is definitly a good price if not great.

      • I think it was the 3rd generation that had the problems. Vertex 2 was supposed to be fine - I've got 2 that are humming along fine.

Good price but these drives with the Sandforce 2200 series controllers cause your system to BSOD and freeze frequently. Been almost a year and they still can't fix it

    Check all the complaints:

    • I went for the slightly slower Crucial M4 because of this reason. The price is still good if you want to take a risk on Sandforce though.

Yep, if you don't value your system or data then bargain..

    • -1

Mate, you shouldn't mark down because its a poor product, its marked a bargain because the company is selling cheaper than its peers.

      • +2

Its not a bargain when you have to return it because your system is unstable and freezing.

        The neg is completely valid.

Negative votes are also appropriate when there maybe something wrong with the product.

If it didn't work for you, maybe a post with no vote attached, if you know others have had issues and have seen bad reports elsewhere a post with link if possible and a negative vote is appropriate

      • "First post be kind"
        That's worth the neg alone.

    • wasnt the bsod fixed with the latest firmware update?

      • Not for my 3rd Agility 3

        • what do u mean 3rd? you have gone thorugh 3? and isnt this the vertex?

        • The difference is the speed and type of NAND flash used. They both use the same controller and have the same problems

2.15 does not fix the problems. Check the OCZ forums.
To anyone that buys a sandforce SSD, good luck!

      • Latest firmware fixed it for me. My Agility 3 128gb used to have a BSOD every couple of weeks, now I'm having no issues. I can't say I've ever had any data loss though, BSOD or not.

I'm sure loads of people are just bagging on it without knowing any better, sorta like when Vista came out.

    • Been using 3 OCZ Vertex 3's in Raid 0 Array for roughly 1 year almost initially I had 1 drive disappear so I updated the firmware as per OCZ's support and have now been stable for about 8 months

The general talk is that they have solved the issues with the firmware updates and new drives are shipping with it installed

as others have said…. buy locally because there is a high chance you will need to make use of local warranty on them

but great price!!!! would be $250-$270pp locally

  • just got 3, issues can be resolved, discount is more than worth the risk

  • +1

i bought my crucial m4 ssd when crucial was having 10% off. Would rather reliability over speed. Have not had a single issue with bsod or resume from sleep, unlike the sf2200 controller based ssds are reporting…

  • can any one confiirm if they have had bsod on and AMD pc? or is it just limited to intel pc's

  • I'm currently using 3 of these drives using the newer firmwares and have not experienced any issues

The bug has been identified and fixed read here:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/news/SandForce-SF-2200-Firmware-…

For this price yo ucan't go wrong with these drives I have been using all 3 in a Raid 0 array

  • I have:
    2x Vertex 3 120gb in RAID0
    2x Vertex 2 120gb in RAID0
    3x Vertex 2 120gb as single drives
    2x Agility3 240gb as single drives
All on Intel chipsets (P45, P55 and X58)… Not a single problem.

Some others clearly are having problems, but it's by no means every OCZ drive.
And when it comes to value and performance, OCZ drives can't be beat.

    • Sounds like you have too much time on your hands too.
Why the hell do you have 9 SSDs?

      • Multiple PC's seriously once you've started using these bad boys in RAID0 you never go back

I've just purchased 2 more to run them in 4x RAID0

  • Have this exact model, latest firmware fixed the BSOD for me :P (Happened when I would leave the computer on overnight for a period of time)

  • Can u guys please give me some advices about which ssd that I should buy? As i want to get one for awhile but still wonder which brand that i should get ( except OCZ models that u guys have said that there are several mistakes)
    Thanks a lot.

    • crucial m4 is my pick because it uses Marvell controllers which are slightly slower in some test types but reliable, i don't think you will even notice the difference, my PC boots in 10 seconds

  • Definitely a bargain, if you don't mind waiting for Amazon to ship it :). When ever I've ordered things from Amazon it's always taken ages to have it delivered.
