    Previous one still waiting 😒

    • A truly great beer is worth waiting for.

  • That's a good deal, considering $10 must be the freight

    Is the beer ok though?

    • +6

      Excellent beer.

      • +1

Need a disclaimer on that - what tastes excellent for you might not taste as good to others

        • +1

Isn't that like everything? I like avocado my kids hate it.

      • Prince Philip keeps one beer on tap from each Commonwealth country in the Royal Palace and Carlton Draught is the beer chosen from Australia, so it's what the Royal Family drinks with their breakfast.

    • +7

Call me bogan, but it's probably my favourite beer.

      • +3

Have my upvote, bogan - p.s. you ain't hardcore unless you drink VB.

        • +1

Nothing wrong with some Vitamin B!

@loksmack: Good form, anything from the glorious kingdom of CUB goes alright for me. What's your thoughts on this (not in any particular order).

            1. Carlton in a can
            2. VB stubbies
            3. Melbo Loooongnecks.

@phill333: All good beers. Have you ever done the CUB tour? Obviously not possible right now, but it's a good day out.

I'd prefer to drink from a stubby. If I've got cans, I'll usually pour them into a glass.

Got my first home-brew fermenting as we speak. Can't wait to see how it goes. Seems to really add-up economically.

@loksmack: gj on the home-brew! Top tip: make sure you sanitise the shit out of everything wtih no-rise, make sure you keep your fermenter in a pitch black spac. Bad bacteria gets into places really easily and can ruin a batch.

              • +1

@loksmack: +1 for the tour. Was a blast!

              • +1

@loksmack: Awesome, yes agreed - I do like them out of a cold pot glass (handle!)

I was lucky enough to have my bucks party at CUB - we did the tour in the morning (sober of course!) then to the carlton brewhouse - fresh as it gets.

Good luck with the home brewing - you've probably done a bit of research but if you haven't heard of them look up kegland. The fermzilla ($$$) - my bro in law has one and just made a beautiful Belgian beer and a stout. (pro tip with home brew - stick to the heavier flavoured ones (dark ales, golden, stouts) - much harder to stuff up!

All the best and tip 'em up.

A very good traditional beer imo. No craft hype markup is a bonus.

  • Damn, I bought the crown, still full case

  • Really enjoy the tank beer of this, tempted to buy….

  • I’m in Sydney so the rivalry is real but I gotta admit this beer is pretty damn good..

  • I like CD but only from the tap i dont know why just doesnt taste the same to me if it isnt from the tap

    • +1

It’s a weird beer. I like it from the bottle but as soon as I pour it into a glass it starts to taste funny. Can’t think of another beer that does that.

      • the drinking rule use to be carlton from the tap and vb from cans lol

  • Good beer !

If you like Tooheys New, Tooheys Extra Dry or VB, you will probably like this.

If you prefer beers with lots of flavour, like hoppy pale ales you will probably not like this beer.

    • Agreed - but HoW dArE YOu bring TED's into it. I compare TED's to an american light beer rather than any lager i've ever drank.

      • +1

I was making a point that a TED was a flavourless beer. I used to drink it when I was a lot younger and didn't know any better, around the same time I used to drink New and Carlton Draught. :D

        • Fair enough - you touched on my set against TED's - (Those excessive uni days…)
I do agree with you that there isn't much flavour in them in comparison, I do think that they have there place - aka some of the more hoppy types you can't drink many of IMO whereas these you can.
