      Obviously 6 people at least.

      • Is a serious question as I don’t see many people wear such watch so I was curious. Not sure why the neg as I wasn’t making fun of people preferences have changed?

I’m not trying to be smart, but it’s like saying “why buy a pair of expensive English made shoes when you can buy a pair from Kmart”?
Firstly, a good watch is going to last you a very long time. I’d honestly say ten times longer than an Apple/Smart Watch. It might even be something you can pass down to your children.
Secondly, a good watch is going to look a lot better than a Smart watch. It looks so much more professional in the office and a Casio or G-Shock can make a great “beater watch”.
Thirdly, no charging is required (your movement charges the watch if it’s an auto).
Fourth: A good brand like Seiko has so much history behind it. Get a brand with history, not a Daniel Wellington etc. Many people get enjoyment out of wearing something with a story behind it. Watches are also usually always worn, so you’ll be able to develop your own memories.
Fifth: it’s a hell of a lot more convenient checking your watch for the time than a phone. Once you try, you’ll believe me.
I’m sure there’re many more reasons.

I went maybe 12 years after uni not owning a watch. I also thought what’s the point of having one when I have a phone etc. I got a Seiko Samurai on sale one day ($330 odd maybe) and love it for all those reasons mentioned. I’d recommend you get a 2020 Seiko 5 (non-diver) as a perfect all round watch and would bet you $100 you wouldn’t regret it.

@The Almighty Dollar: I'm same boat as you. Did not wear a watch for perhaps 20 years, particularly as I have skinny wrists and as a young dude couldn't figure out a watch that worked for me in the 5 mins effort I gave it. Maybe also as a young guy I didn't really think watches fit my dress sense, particularly back then there were no smart watches.

Then I got a Tissot Powermatic as a gift one year ago and haven't looked back. It's not just about telling time without pulling your phone out, for me it's a piece of jewellery, where I don't otherwise wear any other kind of jewellery. So it has form and function. I feel like I am dressing up a little. I'm 40 years old and it suits my mental image of how I want to dress and look. I like looking at the watch. Month after month it does develop a story of its own, and I agree it becomes like an heirloom if well treated. I have my mother's watch and it's dear to me.

    Great deals! Both nice watches.

I think the Seiko Sumo Chronograph SSC759J for $499 is a good deal too. It's a nice looking Diver watch with Solar, Sapphire Crystal and Chrono function.

I got the Great White Shark Samurai at this price about two weeks ago, it's gone back up to $415, so still close to previous sale price. Wanted to say it the transaction worked out great, I got it within a few days via courier, I was given several updates by Starbuy and the product arrived fully enclosed, all tags and protective wrapping in place - exactly how I expected it.

I've never used Starbuy or bought a watch online before, so it was a positive experience.
