  • S5 Max vs S6 - what's the reason you would get one over the other? I'm a bit lost and trying to decide which robo vac would suit me more.

    • S5 max have better mopping fuction, it has bigger electric water tank with APP control. S5 Max’s spring-loaded mop presses down with an even 300g (11oz) from start to finish.

      • force = mass

        Checks out

        • Don't think so. If force = mass then vacuum won't move. wheels rotate without moving

          • @ltbp: Maybe he meant 300*g

            • @askbargain: If that was the case I think the vacuum would be pushing itself up from the floor. I think it'd be the force 300g would apply on the surface below it at standard gravity. So just under 3 newtons.

If anyone's still picky, it's probably more accurate as it uses springs and a mass whose forces rely on gravity and the orientation of the robot (instead of hydraulics for example).

  • Better mop functionality with a larger water tank.

  • Thanks both - so if mopping isn't something I'm too worried about, the S6 pure would suit me just fine?

    • If you do not need better mopping features, s6 pure would be enough for you.

    • Yep, pretty much. If the S6 is anything like the S50 (2017) model, it'll simply be a cloth pad with a drip feed mechanism from the water tank that is dragged along whilst the vacuum is moving. Nothing life changing from the mopping perspective but will mean you won't have to do a manual mop as often I suppose.

    • Yep and the 5 still mops of you need it to, just not as advanced.

      • +1

thanks all. Seeing as it will be a long term investment, probably best to get the latest and greatest as home life may change later down the track.

        • Ahhh well the latest will be released on around the 28th this month. That would be the s6maxV with AI tech for obstacle avoidance and learning

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: yep I couldn't wait any longer - had been in the market for one for quite some time. By the looks of things the S5 Max should suffice for quite some time

            • @itsmehuey: I got one recently and love it. The mopping isn't amazing (doesn't do red wine without 3+ passes imo) but it still does a good job otherwise.

              • @lancesta: which did you get? the S5 Max or S6 Pure? I'm not too fussed about the mopping features as I prefer to go over them properly with my spray mop as we have wooden floors, but it's a good feature to have for in-between handmopping I guess. I actually purchased mine with the eBay 21% off sale + shopback extra $10 cashback (along with standard 2% rate). Much better deal than this one.

                • @itsmehuey: I got the S5 max, have a lot of floorboards with the only carpet really being rugs. Have used mopping a few times but mainly just use the vacuumimg. I just get out the big mop whenever it gets a bit greasy, especially in the kitchen. The only downside we have is the dustbin is always really full/overflowing with the daily clean probably due to a cat/dog inside. So run it multiple times a day on the weekend to get some of the stuff it couldn't fit in the dustbin over the week.

Glad you were able to get it for a decent price. I ended up buying a grey import because at the time it was almost $300 extra for an Australian version. So cost a bit under $600. Spent $100 or so recently getting parts from AliExpress, which should be enough for the next year or so.

  • When will the S6 MaxV be available? at at what price roughly??

    • roborock have refused to disclose this yet, but would be assuming at least $1000 upward of $1200

      • They're releasing the pre-orders tomorrow so we'll know then, I suppose!

        • yep i just got the vip email too. i still have a feeling the pricing will be above $1000 (but 10% cheaper for vip preorders with bonus inclusions)

          • @itsmehuey: At least the benefit is that it might lower the prices of existing models? I'm pretty new to the robotic vacuum game.

            • @hullohullo: I too am also new to robot vacs too. From past pricing I don't think it would change the pricing much if at all.. plus you can get the current models on sale for some great prices.

    • Looking forward to that as well, but if they are going to sell it for too expensive here (just look at how much the V5 Max a couple of months ago) then I might turn away for the Ecovas T8+ (with vibrational mopping module and optional self-emptying bin).

    • been watching a couple of reviews on both the S6 MaxV and S5 Max, and seems the S5 Max has better suction especially in deep cleaning.

    • +1
  • Anyone know if you can run two docks for a double story house?

If so, what’s a dock worth op?

  • How does the mopping function on the F9 compare to the roborocks?

  • Thanks op put an order in for the S6 Pure. Been keen for a while.

  • Hi OP,

Am I right in the assumption that only the Roborock is capable of multiple maps for multi story home?

    • You are right, roborock have multi maps.

  • +2

Recently bought the F9 and we've been happy with it so far, albeit the smart map takes several full cleanups before it is completed.

Without the laser top, the F9 is able to vacuum under all our beds.

  • Why hasn't the popular version 2 model (the one with the mop that debuted years ago at circa $400-500; I lose track of all the needless model and naming iterations) come down in price?

  • I still find it amazing how well the original roborock stacks up against the newer versions and how fantastic it is for its price. It seems that the main advantage of the newer models is the mop and a few mapping / scheduling updates.

  • S6 MaxV RRP $1199 as predicted and currently preorder opened early with 10% off ($1079.10) and a few preorder bonuses, including a $100 MasterCard gift card.

  • How long will standard delivery take for the s6 pure?

    • I'm still waiting for mine, tracking shows has been sitting in Vic since ordering.
