3455

I reckon this is an amazing deal.

Make sure you select click and collect on the website when you preorder to get this offer.

Preorders commence online on 22nd September

Alternatively, you can get the Series S version for $299 when you trade in your Xbox One S but no one would want a stovetop.

EB world is eligible for this offer so if you are on level 4, that’s $420 off the console price itself

Note: Confirmation from EB Games rep If you place an online preorder for collection in store, you don't have to trade in until release day. Which means you can secure this deal and still use your Xbox One X until release day.

Will it make you saltier if I said it already sold with the payment sitting in my bank account for about $1300 while still having another preorder which I'll sell to desperate parents closer to Christmas?

          • @[Deactivated]: Why are you actually admitting this in a public place ?!?!

            You've just told everyone…

            • -3

@Nom: Because it's not illegal? It's just another form of business that's looked down upon for no reason.

              • +5

@[Deactivated]: Who said anything about it being illegal ?

It's looked down upon because it's a Dick move. With a capital D.

                • -3

@Nom: Tell that to every other business that buys low and sells high. Get over yourself.

                  • +4

@[Deactivated]: No, every other business isn't creating 14-page threads of misery like this one you're replying to.
Great work - you've contributed to the crappy experience of buying a limited-anything.

                    • -3

                      @Nom: You're welcome :)

Let me know if you need a preorder, I'll do $1,100 since it's post launch ;)

                  • @[Deactivated]: You're not a business though….

                    • -1

@Danstar: I have an ABN and pay tax on income from scalping. So yes, I am a business.

                      • @[Deactivated]: A lot of people are bagging you but gotta give you kudos for being open about it.

There are others on this site who aren't going to resell, but who have tied up two or three preorders at different stores to keep their options open as they seek the seller that will offer them the earliest access to stock.

There are certainly times when resellers frustrate the hell out of me, but if someone is that desperate to purchase at close to twice the cost, there will always be a second tier market…

                      • @[Deactivated]: I find that hard to believe you have a business and you have the time to scalp 1 Xbox…

                        • @Danstar: How do you know he got 1? His bots might have bought 10 :D

                          • @GerrardLFC: Because he said he got an extra one only.

                          • @GerrardLFC: I love how everyone always talks about the ‘bots’!

I think I need to build a bot of my own - not to secure multiple orders - just to make it easier to get a single unit for this sort of stuff in future!

Would have saved me a lot of time on Tuesday!!

Another reason to get the Series X.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/seagate-xbox-series-x-sto…

It's $359 for a 1TB expansion card. Which suggests that the extra "features" (which includes a 4K player) the series X has only cost us $70.50 after storage price is deducted.

Granted the card will come down in price over time, but as it is now, pretty unbalanced benefit.

    • Can't you plugin an external SSD? How am I going to backup and transfer my games from my Xbox One X to this if you can't plugin external storage?

I'll do my own research, but the above is my initial reaction!

      • +1

I'm pretty sure there is a local wireless transfer from x1x to xsx. You can plug in conventional storage you won't get the instant loading from games on there though.

      • +2

Yes you can, but you cannot play directly from the external HDD for Series X optimised games.

So if its games that is not optimised to Series X, yes, you can use an external HDD. But I would think most of the upcoming games (AAA titles or even some random cooking game) that will be optimised to Series X will not be (or rather can be for previous gen games optimised to Series X but the point below will come into play)

Also the fast loading time (based on their example 50s to 10s for a 100gb game) and seamless transition between games that is being marketed will also not support the external HDD games.

It may also just be a marketing gimmick to sell their expandable storage.

  • just curious, has anyone who preordered @ eb games got their post launch order bump up to launch day?

    • +1

Nope, mine still says Post Launch December and I ordered in the second lot.

      • +1

Just got a call from local ebgames to confirm email, they said ebgames will send some updates soon. I've cheekly asked about my queue in line and they told me I'm within first 10 in line, so very hopeful for the launch day release!

        • Cool - look forward to the updates coming out - exciting! A bit of a lottery! ;)

        • So you currently preordered the post launch right? if that's the case why did they need to confirm your email? did you order via guest?

          • +1

@changot: Yeah mines from the 2nd wave pre-order, post launch. I don't know, they just called up and confirm my email and said I will get some further follow up. So far, I haven't see any yet though.

  • +6

Hey! Anyone else get an email from EB tonight?

My order has been moved up to the launch day shipment! :)

Not quite sure how pick up and console trade-in is going to work in Victoria if retail is still partially closed. Lets see what November holds for us.

    • Yeah! Got it too.

    • Yeah same just got the email!

    • Also got an e-mail saying my post launch order is being upgraded to a launch day pick-up! :D

    • Yep got it as well! Happy days

    • What time did you guys make the order?

      • +1

My email from EB Games came through right after I ordered, my order time was: 22nd of September 3:34pm

        • 3:34pm for me as well

    • Got it also

    • Im part of launch shipment now too. Absolutely stoked.

    • Me too, I ordered 22/9, got confirmation email @ 3:06pm

    • Yeah, me too!

I guess EB got quite a bit of extra stock, which may have just been allocated.

Good thing I already found a EB trade-in priced xbox one x on gumtree to trade in!

    • +1

Whew awesome glad to see others get bumped up too!

I asked their Twitter about being in Vic and trade in etc a while back and this is the response I got
(I asked about PS5 as at time I had post launch XSX)

      “ Hey there,

The current roadmap should see our stores reopened by launch on 12th November. If this is not the case, the current trade deal will be honoured when stores do reopen for trade.

Click & Collect is already available at most Melbourne stores. However, we would require the full remaining amount to be paid off before collection. Due to current Victorian Government Regulations, we are unable to accept any form of payment instore at this time.

If the store is not open on the release date for the trade in, there are other options, such as Gift Card payments over the phone for you to collect your console.”

      • +2

Sounds fine as long as the advertised trade-in rates are honoured as cash refunds (given console will have been paid for already) and not trade-in credit.

        Thanks for sharing.

        • Didn’t take from that EB response there would be cash refunds available at a later date for trade ins? I’d imagine it would be credit given at a later date meaning potentially having excess credit and paying the full amount on release day

        • Yeah I am curious if they will be cash refunds or paid back to the card.

I imagine they will be honoured though, surely…

We can hope they will be open but I’m not holding my breath.

          • @JMxoxo: Surely EB will have to honour it as cash against the Series X - after the fact - given the circumstances in Vic (if stores can’t reopen).

I know it was supposed to be for trade-in credit against the purchase but there will be some who won’t want the box if they have to shell out full price, and then end up with $400 of store credit. I certainly don’t want that.

Hopefully one of us can get some clarity around it.

          • @JMxoxo: Really can’t see retail opening in Victoria before December

            • +1

@TightTerry: @TightTerry neither mate, I don’t see it happening at all.

@fookos I agree it would be crap to end up with $400 store credit or in my case $800 after the two consoles lol. I don’t think we will.

              • @JMxoxo: The stores are open right now for pickup of online orders though.
Surely they can just setup an online page for our trade consoles, then we pre-pay the remaining balance and just take our trade consoles to the store when we collect ?

                • +1

@Nom: I’d be happy if I even had to thorough clean and sanitise the console and drop it off a week prior or send it in. But who knows, I might give my local a call in a week or two and see what the go is if nothing lockdown wise changes.

    • Yep, I have been moved up to the launch day shipment too. and I'm in Sydney

    • Me too!

  • Would anyone happen to know if you can use a different EB Games account that is Level 4 for the console trade in deal?

Ordered on a level 1 account but I have a family member that is level 4.

    • I am using my bothers Level 4 card on pickup.

      • Can you use someone else’s card? I’d assume it would have to be the same as the ID presented

      • When we asked our local EB sales people they said it will be ok, maybe ask your local store.

        • Do you need that person there, or just their card?

    • Need to know the same. In the pre-order madness I used another email and checked out as a guest. Hoping I can use my level 2 card and get the trade in bonus

      • I was trying to get a preorder in at the same time as my brother whose account is the level 4, mine went through but he never got past the checkout. I'm hoping that it doesn't matter what account it was purchased on for the trade in deal.

    • Rang up EB and received an answer for this. They said yes you can use the Level 4 for the trade in and put the credit towards a preorder on a different account.

However they did also say that there was no extra trade in bonus, so the current trade in values are the normal ones. Not the ones that were from August that people were posting saying that they would be the same for this preorder deal.

Only checked PS4 Slim 1TB which was $301 for trade in credit.

      • Apologies if I've misunderstood your comments but, surely, that can't be right. The whole deal that EB pushed was the trade-in deal - and that's what set them apart from other retailers.

There are posts further up in this discussion that confirmed (anecdotally) that EB would honour the trade-in bonus until 31 Jan to ensure those getting the second wave of stock would still be able to action the offer.

Not many would be trading in their consoles last month, and then having no console until receiving their Series X - particularly those who weren't sure if they were getting their console on launch day or later.

        • See that is why I decided to ask when I rang because posts here were saying that they would honour the trade in values from August for all the consoles.

I rang three different stores (in Queensland) and they all told me the same thing, that they would only give $301 for level 4 card for the PS4 Slim 1TB with the trade in deal to go towards the preorder.

So unless that is the price with the extra credit bonus? But then that means the values that were posted here were incorrect because the August trade in value was $360 with Level 4 not $301.

I can't help what I've been told by thier staff, I'd advise people to contact thier local stores and actually check to make sure.

I would love to be proved wrong as I was also intending on trading in for the higher amount ):

          • +2

@Megumin: I think you got your numbers wrong…
TRADE DEALS FOR LEVEL 4 MEMBERS (20% ADDITIONAL)
The PS5 Physical will be $388 when you trade in your PS4 Pro (Level 4)
The PS5 Physical will be $448 when you trade in your PS4 Slim (Level 4)
The PS5 Physical will be $485 when you trade in your PS4 OG (Level 4)
The PS5 Discless will be $239 when you trade in your PS4 Pro (Level 4)
The PS5 Discless will be $299 when you trade in your PS4 Slim (Level 4)
The PS5 Discless will be $334 when you trade in your PS4 OG (Level 4)

Your PS4 Slim will trade ion for the $301 they have quoted you INCLUDING your Level 4 bonus.
Without Level for the trade in will be $251
The $360 Trade-In bonus with Level 4 is for the PS4 Pro

            • @not4us: Thanks for that. I've just looked back through the comment thread, seemed I've been misinformed as to what pricing EB were actually using for the preorder deal.

There are a few comments early on stating that it was the same values for PS4 as it was back for the starlight trade in deal which isn't the case. Never saw the updated pricing list anywhere either so didn't know it had changed.

              • @Megumin: Just traded a ps4 pro towards ps5 yesterday

$376. 19 trade in value (eb level 5) hope that helps.

Which the base is approx $300

FYI Xbox one x base is $350. if that helps.

                Your multiplier is 1.2x

                • @luffyex2010: Imagine getting just $26.19 more at max level compared to the base $350.

It's kinda weird, as EB staff has told me multiple times whenever I asked about the trade in values of PS4Pro vs X1X (we are talking up to Nov 2019), pro has always been atleast $30 more than 1X.

Maybe it's a Sony directive? Like that one time deal to exchange a PS4Slim to PS4Pro, which was a direct Sony deal that EB just facilitated.

  • Also part of the launch day shipment. Super happy about that.

  • Seems EB games have revoked the trade in deal for the Xbox one X, and acknowledge the one s as the only trade in options.

Crosses fingers it's a joke, if not Xbox one X sold on eBay and no sale for eb games.

Either way I don't lose out.

    • Have you got a link to this change ?

      • On their website it states only the Series s on the pre order page, for all Xbox related s/X, but no mention of Series X trade in, only Xbox s on.

So it's not a matter of link change, but priority change, because there's no reason to redact it from the site.

So you can see why I'm suspecting it's changed, unless someone else can confirm.

        • Right, I see what you mean - I think that's just because because they are no longer taking orders. Stock is backordered for months, and the trade deal only works until end Jan, so it makes sense for them to take it off the site. Not sure why they haven't removed all of it though…
It'll be fine for those of us who already have a confirmed pre-order.

  • Nothing has change, but they will be having a VIP console trade in weekend soon for ps4/xbox one with 50% more trade in deal for the games*.

*wait for an eb staff to confirm.

    • They called me yesterday and told me about this, from Nov 3 to 9. In Melbourne, this event will start early, from Oct 29 to Nov 10.

  • +1

Anyone else have unknown product Sku: 268525 pop up on their order page? Pick up same store as the xbox. Free gift maybe?

    • I did get this yesterday.
My order is still on "post-launch shipment", didn't get bumped up last week. Is yours a launch shipment order?

      • No, I was the same as you but I did get bumped up last week. Then this appeared on Friday. Could be nothing but was just wondering if anyone else had it appear.

    • Yes I got 2. I've got a XSX and PS5 pre-ordered so i'm assuming it's got to do with that

      • Yes, so did I, thanks for clarifying.

    • Just checked my order and I didn't have that item.

  • Retail opening back up on November 1st in Melbourne :) - pending any huge outbreaks between now and then.

Just in time for trade in and release of the Series X!

  • Just got an email that my Xbox series x bought from MS store is being shipped to me on October 28

  • whats the status on tradein for xbox one x towards preorder xbsx @ eb? i am told $350 and thats it, no eb world level bonuses apply?

    • Someone posted this list in a different forum thread with all the trade in prices: https://imgur.com/CGBHQyR

Pretty sure the prices are without EB World % added on top.

      • thanks for that, yeah based on that image it doesn't say explicitly no EB games level bonuses - i have emailed EB games CS to get confirmation… will report back here once i get a response - this tradein T&C seems open to interpretation for CS @ each store…sh*t like this should be clear cut.

        • I was told over the phone that trade in for PS4 Slim 1TB was $301 with Level 4, so that chart does match up if you add the EB World % to the prices. Eg. $250.95 + $50.19 (Level 4 20%) = $301.14

        • It is clear cut, check the emails they sent out a few weeks ago 👍
Specifically the one with the subject "Xbox Series X | S Preorders Start Soon! Learn more here."
It quotes me the prices "including my EBWorld Level 2 Bonus"

          • @Nom: looks like i must have deleted that particular email, have received email response from EB Games CS re: this, so now have on record that eb world lvl bonus applies - when i visit my local store for tradein/ pickup…hopefully vic metro is on track to open 1st week NOV.

  • got a phone call from EBGames chatswood store lunch time today, confirmed my launch day xbox and asked me when I will be in store to pick up the console

  • Great retail is now open again in Melbourne - think i will drop off the old console for trade in on the Monday to avoid potential queues on the Tuesday, that way i can just pay the difference on tuesday and pick up and go.

  • has anyone traded their xbox one x @ eb games? how much did you get?

i traded my xbox one x today and got 350$ only even if i’m eb world member level 3.

    it should be 350$ + 15% (52.5$) right?

    • +2

You should have received member bonus trade in value :/

    • Eh? No trade in bonus?

    • Did you trade it towards a next gen console? I’m assuming you did being in this thread and if you did it should be what you calculated, if not the value would be lower.

      • yes it was for the XSX. I did the trade in today together with some games which had the vip trade week bonus of 15%.

I kept asking the lady who assisted me but she said nothing is showing up for the trade bonus of console.

Is there photo or a flyer or official announcment link article that indicates the trade in for next gen console bonus for eb world members? So I can return and show it to them. I couldnt find any.

        • here is also my receipt for today's trade. listed as well the games that I traded in for reference.

@changot: Hopefully others dont have the same experience - sounds like it might be a bit of a shit fight

            • +3

              @TightTerry: UPDATE:

Called EB Customer Service to clarify the issue, They agree I should've gotten the 15% console trade in bonus so they called the werribee plaza store to fix the issue and finally was credited the $52.50. Justice! haha!

              • @changot: I was told there was a special trade-in bonus event from 3-9th November for PS4 trade-ins towards PS5 (i.e. Level 2 +10% bonus becomes +20%) would get double bonus as well as higher trade-in rates for 'select' games. Is this not the case for Xbox too? Did anyone inform you about that?

                • @Hybroid: The bonus is for game trade ins not consoles which I’m pretty sure changot got
