Yup we know… but that's expired & theirs only come with 1-year warranty

      • Is there anything in particular we need to do to qualify for the 2 year warranty?

        • +1

nope… they're already registered with Acer for 2 years.

        • +1

if you're worried… get the sales rep to put that as a side note on the invoice.

  • +1

+1 for giving ozb a heads up.

  • A500 16GB - 20 left / 4 on order
    A500 32GB - 12 left
    A501 16GB - 9 left
    A501 32GB - 4 left

most of our stores will have 1 on display but rarely turned on… check for scratches if it's been on display

    • your website shows the A500 16GB as out of stock…

      • Fixed :)

  • -7

No offense, but doesn't seem like a bargain to me.

    I mean, A501 16gb for $499?…Pretty big rip off.

    • +5

Maybe compared to the recent Good guys deal. But at the moment this is the cheapest of any online retailer AFAIK, ebay notwithstanding.

  • -1

when officeworks matched the good guys pricing, their a501 32gb was $399 + $60 for extra 2 years warranty(quote from the guy at OW), so still not the best deal yet..

    • +6

      Keyword "when".

If we go by your theory, this - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55588 - wouldn't have been a bargain, as it came AFTER Samsung sold some of their SII's for $2.

IMHO, a bargain is a bargain if it's a good price at the time; not compared to the past or future.

  • Whats with the picture of the girl in the header? Haha

    • We use her in our tv ads

      • What about the guy on page 2?

        • +2

That's Rusty Gates. Annoying tv ad guy. There shoud be a few clips on Youtube

        • Rusty? Is he a parody of the famous Aussie Rusty who wrote ipchains?

        • Good price on the tablets.

Check out the advertising from these guys Perth has to put up with.

marketing people… you need new ones.

        • The way he says dual core it's more like DOOL CAWR - Priceless LOL!

  • For those of you who placed an order online, we'll confirm payment has cleared on Monday & give you a call.

  • +1

FYI shipping to NSW is $38.00. 299 plus 38 makes $337 for 16gb version. Shame I'm not in Perth. Still, good luck to the punters. I'll wait till this price comes to Sydney for pick up. Unless OP wants to chuck in free postage :D

    • me too. Tho I still had a 'backorder' from GG but i presume that should be a 'deadorder'.
I think the price will do down by Christmas.

  • wow…$38 postage to Brisbane..good price for those in perth.

  • The 16GB wifi version is a bargain with 2 yrs warranty. It's comparable with the previous 249 offer which had only 1 year warranty.

    • It's the only thing that's actually tempting there. The rest… meh. I can wait.

  • Can you confirm this one comes with the "Iconia Tab USB Dock (Keyboard in-built)"
If I order online can I pick up instore?

EDIT: found out at checkout, pickup is possible.
Really count on the fact the unit comes with the keyboard, otherwise I'll cancel the order.

    • -1

Sorry. Keyboard not included. That just means it has the usb dock

      • No, I checked and the one I ordered specifies the Iconia Tab USB Dock (keyboard inbuilt), not just the Iconia Tab Docking Port like some others. I have printed all the specs, so we'll make sure it's included on Monday when I pick it up.

        • -4

Inbuilt keyboard as in onscreen keyboard. We don't stock the keyboards anyway

        • you bought the iconia w500, which is a windows 7 tab.

        • So specifying "Iconia Tab USB Dock (keyboard inbuilt)" means that the tablet has an onscreen keyboard? What's that about?

It has the same description as the Windows tablet, does that come with an onscreen keyboard only as well than?

Next you're going to say that the GPS is actually a hyperlink to maps.google.com.au only?

          Please explain.

        • Hey 'bargained', the tablet does not come with a physical keyboard. The description "inbuilt" means it is an on screen keyboard, just like the iPhone. If you want a physical keyboard, then there is a USB port to plug one in or use BT if you have BT keyboard.

        • Hi Moe_graphics, That's not quite what the descriptions says.

          Please check the following descriptions:

          http://www.arrowcomputers.com.au/products-page/tablets-slate…
          spec: Iconia Tab Docking Port

          http://www.arrowcomputers.com.au/products-page/tablets-slate…
          spec: Iconia Tab Docking Port

          http://www.arrowcomputers.com.au/products-page/tablets-slate…

          http://www.arrowcomputers.com.au/products-page/tablets-slate…
spec: Iconia Tab USB Dock (Keyboard in-built)

This makes me believe the first two come with a port accommodated for connection to a docking station, and the last three comes with the docking station. Not?

        • +1

Bargained is right… However i am sure they have an E&O clause… They have used the line from the windows version description….

Have Acer even released the keyboard dock for the none windows versions yet?

        • Hey guys, not disputing the wording regarding the use of "docking port" or "dock", I'm just clarifying that there is no physical keyboard that comes with the tablet.

I guess the seller should have written "(Docking Station NOT included), so no one gets confused.

          http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/iconia-tab-a500

        • …and that's exactly what the seller has done now, changed the ad.

          was:
spec: Iconia Tab USB Dock (Keyboard in-built)

          now:
Iconia Tab USB Docking Port (Docking Station Keyboard Not Included)

          Can Arrow do that?

  • +2

Why is everyone going nuts over this when you can find brand new stock on Ebay for much less? You can pick up the 32GB A501 3G for only $450. So many users selling them for a profit from the officeworks/gg fiasco.

    Not a bargain.

  • On your web, it's written:
1 Year Pickup/Repair/Return Warranty by ACER
Bonus eVoucher redeemable from Acer. Expires 31/08/2011.

    But you said above:
2-year warranty at no extra cost
$100 Gift eVoucher valid till the end of November.

Would you mind explaining the difference? Thanks.

      all outdated information and wrong.
the fact is e -Voucher valid until the 31 Dec 2011.
      hope this helps.
OP…please update you website and your post|o|

      • just don't order when the web page have wrong info. Sleepless night not worth the saving.

        • -5

          Scam…beware!

    • Sorry. Details updated. New stock has 2-year warranty.

Our old stock had 1-year warranty. We got Acer to upgrade the warranty to match new stock.

  • The eVoucher can only be used to redeem music or ebooks???
    http://www.shopacer.com.au/ecprod/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Load…

  • Evoucher can take upto 8 weeks to redeem and you wouls need to do some paper to apply for it. Also there is a list of suppliers that acer accept so you have to put in the date and supplier you bought this from. I dont think arrow computers are direct acer contracters pls explain if you are? I have bought this at the start of september and still havent heard back from acer
    Regards
    Moxin

  • I think there is alot of grey areas in this ad specially with the specs changing continuosly also bear in mind acer is discontinued this line of tablets and i can see tablets prices going more down near christmas time so pls stay put

  • We're sorry for the stuff-up on our part. We haveno intentions of misleading or ripping-off customers.

The specs listed on our website have been around since the Iconias first came out. No one has ever notified us about the keyboard dock issue, nor have our customers complained… so they've gone unchanged till you guys brought it up.

We're Acer channel partners, meaning we buy our stock from distributors; not directly from Acer like big retailers.

Cashbacks do take time (2 of my claims took about 3 months). The problem is they do not contact you when you send in wrong documentation (eg wrong serial number, photocopies of serial numbers). You should be able to check progress on the claim site.

    • Does it mean that the $100 eVoucher can be coverted to cash? Thks!

      • Sorry. Too used to saying cashbacks.

Answer is no I'm afraid. Tablets have a different rebate (right word?) to Acer laptop and desktops

  • Can anyone post a scanned copy of Sunday Times showing this advertisement?
I went to Harvey Norman and they insisted to see the newspaper before price match.

    • PDF version of the ad on the top of the page.

Same PDF can also be downloaded from our website.

      • No. They insisted on the newspaper. Actually, I believe they do not want to price match and are just looking for various reasons. But I am trying to void all their justifications.

    • Don't worry. I have managed to get a price match from HN with the pdf catalogue. $299 16G wifi.
It was not easy both for me and for them. :P
Long arguments… Seems the manager needs to seek head office approval.

      • did you manage to get the 2-year warranty as well?

      • Upload receipt for other people?

  • When can we expect order/pickup confirmations? I ordered on Saturday, payment got confirmed immediately.

    • The confirmation you received was from eWay (payment gateway). It takes time for the payment to go into our bank accounts. We'll contact you once this happens.

  • We've completely sold out for the A500 16GB. We're very sorry for those who had their orders cancelled due to insufficient stock.

I've spoken to the boss & he's willing to reduce the prices on the 3G models.

    A501 16GB $469
    A501 32GB $549

Don't hold your breath..I just got an email refunding my purchase made on Saturday..No reasons were provided so I rang their Osborne Park store and spoke with Greg. To start with, he said they only had between 8-10 units of A500s to sell..

So much for what they posted on here at 15:18 on 05/11/2011 and I quote:

    "A500 16GB - 20 left / 4 on order
    A500 32GB - 12 left
    A501 16GB - 9 left
    A501 32GB - 4 left

most of our stores will have 1 on display but rarely turned on… check for scratches if it's been on display"

I lodged a report to the OB mod on Saturday night when I suspected bait advertising

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…..

Arrow won't be getting further business from me any time soon..

  • I ordered an A500 on Sunday morning, and the payment went through via my credit card that day, according to my bank record.
Just wondering whether my purchase is likely to be successful or not?

  • What Greg said was we had 20 to sell last week.

We had 30 online orders over the weekend & only had 8-10 left to fill online orders today (due to walk-ins).

  • Surprised no one has mentioned the Belkin deal. Very very strong. Cheapest by far on static ice (MSY is closest with $45) and JB are double.
