[NSW] IKEA Tradfri E14 Dimmable LED Smart Bulbs $4.20 @ Marsden Park

170

Ikea have released a new version of their E14 smart bulbs, which support different shades of white. Remaining stock of the older version which are only dimmable, are on clearance out at Ikea Marsden Park.

They are located at the clearance section near the registers, marked at $6. There is an additional 30% off clearance items, which bring them down to $4.20. They need to be paired with the Tradfri hub for the smart features, although I have them working with a Philips Hue hub.

Don't forget about the $10 Ikea Family discount, which means you could get 3 for $2.60.

  • The old CCT ("different shades of white") version is $5 in Perth (elsewhere?) if any are left. Photo from Tuesday.

Also, the old motion sensor was $5 with tons left. (new version $20)

    And don't forget the long-running $15 bulb+dimmer deal:

    • The motion sensors are no longer on clearance, back to $25 at IKEA Perth

      • That is the new model. Ask if they still have the old model - it looks almost identical.

        • Been through that, the new one is $20 and the old one on the system was $25. They have also redone the layout and the $5 tags have been taken down.

The staff mentioned it could also be due to the sale.

I was told the old ones part number ends in .10 and the new ends in .69

  • With hue hub, just remember that they don’t present to HomeKit in iOS through the hue app. There are work around a bit that involves using homebridge on Pi or using ikea gateway to obtain HomeKit ids. Bit annoying really.

    • That's a pity. They work fine with Google Home or Alexa.

      • That’s right - i thought I’d go with a Zigbee ecosystem via Hue bridge and not have to spend a lot of money on the hue bulbs. Phillips Hue G10 White are 250ln ca these IKEA ones that are 400ln. So looked like a win win until I hit this snag. Have them outside on a timer so I’m fine I guess

  • will this and ikea sensor work with hue bridge or echo plus?

    • The ikea sensor and switches will pair to Hue, but control the lights directly. You cannot program them.
Ikea lights work like Hue lights, except for power-on state setting. (they come on after a power failure)

  • Got it working with my Hue system for the on/off switch and dimmer switch from Ikea. u will need Hue Essential app (free)

  • these work fine in home assistant, with zigbee2mqtt and the USB dongle
A bit of a fiddle perhaps to get it to work, but once set, is fine

  • Using these with Conbee 2 and Home Assistant.
I am using HomeKit Bridge integration to control them via IOS Home and Siri.

  • Could anyone with both the new and the old version please tell me if the new one is any smaller in length? IKEA website doesn't give dimensions and the old version didn't fit. Thanks

How tight? The old one is 110mm, but you could easily remove 1 or 2 cm from the plastic diffuser, using a hacksaw.

Good idea that would do it. But the front of the bulb will be visible with these sconces. Maybe even 3d print a new diffuser. Thanks you have sent me down my next rabbit hole!!

  • Thanks Op! Got one. However, I am struggling to get it setup with my xiaomi or hue bridge. Neither of them are recognising the device. I have tried the 6 times on/ off method for the bulb but it doesn’t flicker. Neither the 6 on/ off on the xiaomi gateway is working. Any tips?

Make sure the offs are longer than the ons. And that the sequence is like a metronome. It should definitely flick/raise the brightness when it's successfully reset. I just did it a ton of times. Some work first time, others take many multiple goes. Very frustrating. But far cheaper than most of the alternatives

resetting can be fiddly, but it is not normally necessary.
Just use the touchlink method to pair with Hue bridge.
Or, you can get a Tradfri controller (such as the rocker switch in the $15 kit with e27), pair that with the Hue, then pair it to the bulbs.

You need to get the on/off sequence correct first so the bulb will reset, or you'll have no chance of pairing to the bridge. It can also help to have it off for ~30 seconds before starting the sequence. I found that watching a YouTube video of someone else doing it was helpful to get the timing right.

Thanks for all your replies guys! Appreciate it. Finally got it working. Appears I was doing the 6 times on/ off for the gateway instead of the light duh ??? !!
I kept getting a message in my mi home app - update gateway and asking to switch on/ off 6 times. I struggled for a long time, especially as the gateway blocks the switch behind it, so took a lot of creativity to switch on/off 6 times, within the 30 secs it was trying to search for a device. Now I feel like a fool - I was actually switching on/ off the gateway while it was trying to search for the device - how did I expect that to ever work ???
Happy to get it working. Now I can repurpose the smart plug which I was using on this light for something better. Cheers guys and thanks again !
