[eBay Plus] Sony A7III Camera (Body Only) $2399 (Bonus $400 EFTPOS/Digital Mastercard from Sony) @ Camera House eBay

850
PARTY21

Original Coupon Deal

Not as good as the previous deal from Digi Direct ($1950 after cashback) but that price has been jacked.
So, this maybe the best deal so far.
I am collector and own over 15 cameras and Sony A7III is among my favourite ones.

A few suggestions on lenses:
For general use, Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 (E-Mount) would be a great buy.
For Portrait: Sony 85mm f1.8, Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8
For Street Photography: Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8
For Landcscape: Tamron 17-28mm f2.8
For Macro, Sony 90mm f2.8 G, Sony 50mm f2.8 Macro
(Do not buy Sony 24-70 f4 Zeiss as it does not worth that much money! BTW Sony 28-75mm kit lens is good, and you may find a second-hand one on eBay for around $200.)

Sigma Art lenses (Sony E-mount ) would be of top image quality, but the weight is significantly higher…
All Sony G master lenses are great but way too expensive. 16-35mm, 20mm and 24mm GM for landscape and vedio, 85mm and 135mm for portrait and 100mm STF for nice bokeh.

Also, you may buy Canon lenses and use Sigma MC-11 adapter which enables auto-focus.

Thanks to @XeKayeM, he mentioned that you can use Sony LA-EA adapter for affordable A-mount lenses. There are many A-mount zeiss lenses and minolta APO lenses.

  • What are peoples' thoughts on the Sony FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA?

To be specific, as a first lens for the A7III whilst saving money for more expensive lenses lol.

    • nice lens, f2.8 is a bit slow for a prime. 35mm 1.8 or 55mm 1.8 is a better choice

      • For the Sony RRP of $1,499, it's probably overpriced as. Paid $530 odd for it, so probably a reasonable starter lens?

Yeah it's probably a bit slower than what i'd have ideally liked. But for the size and price, it's probably a decent lens.

Just trying to convince myself, haha.

530 is a good deal, no worries at all. That will be a perfect first lens. It's actually probably better image quality than the 35 1.8 as it's a zeiss sonnar lens. The 55mm 1.8 is a zeiss sonnar and it is absolutely amazing. 35mm is a good start to help you work out if you prefer wider or longer. Have fun

@Phesto: Cheers! Thanks for the advice. Coming from a Nikon DX, first FF camera is exciting!

If shooting stills only and don't want to bust the bank.
    Grab yourself a LA-EA4 adapter.
This will allow you to mount A-Mount lenses to your camera. Some of the older Minolta's are considered to be some of the best lenses ever made (200mm F2.8G) and you can pick them up on eBay from Japan for 1/10th of the price of the current day Sony's.
There are caveats though for the older lenses, the coatings on the lenses are not great for chromatic aberration, the focusing motors are louder (not so good for video) and the adapter steals half a stop of light.
BUT! if you are unsure about which lenses to buy and don't want to drop a bunch of cash straight up. Buy some Minolta's, test which ones fit your needs best and upgrade to the Sony variant.
Look up Dyxum through google and there is a review site on all the A and E mount lenses.

And just a note, the Minolta 200mm F2.8G I mentioned above is the sharpest lens I have ever used. It cost me $450.

    • I have LA-EA4 for Minolta 85mm f1.4 and Sony 35mm G. Minolta lenses are great but sadly not many people know this brand.

      • Yeah, Minolta was purchased by Sony in about 2005 ish? They kept the same mount for a few systems but eventually changed to E-Mount. when they developed their own bodies. However most of the lenses even current day stuff is all identical optics to what they have been making since the 80's, just with IS and better coatings. The Minolta lenses were built like tanks too.

Edit: Some info from the Wiki.
2006: Konica Minolta announces it is discontinuing all film and digital camera production, ending a 78-year history as a camera manufacturer. Final models released were Dimage X1 and Z6. Konica Minolta Photo Image, Inc.'s (the camera business portion of Konica Minolta) assets regarding digital camera technology are transferred to Sony for continued development started from the joint venture.

Really regretting paying $2500 for this one at JB a few weeks ago now :( Lovely camera but man I could have saved some coin.

  • Asking for genuine suggestion: I know this is a good deal, but do you think I should wait for price drop at some retailer's site (before 4th Oct) like previous deal and price match with Sony?

  • New budget FF camera coming from Sony believe to be called a7c.

Probably why there is cashback on this.

  • +2

I would save the money and wait for the upcoming A7c

    • According to SAR the A7c will be priced higher than the a7III

  • Should give a thumbs up for this post for lens suggestions. Great discussions.

  • It's $2,699, isn't 21% off should be $2132.21?

      Capped at $300

dcxpert is selling some sigma lens for sony FF emount lens.

You can check out their 14-24mm, 24-70mm.

I rave about the 14-24mm as i used before i traded for 24mm GM. Youtubers rave about the 24-70mm, not my focal use.

  • Hi guys is the deal not available anymore? I was going to purchase and its $2699 now. 😞
I just sold my camera after seeing this deal two days ago. Now i have no camera 😅

  • help!!
I purchased the Sony a7iii from this deal and checked with Sony store online chat.

They says the ebay purchase is not valid for bonus card 400 offers ?!

Did anyone have this issue ? I am not sure what to do now ? Should I return the camera back to digidirect?
