        The heatsink covers both the NAND and the controller.

        When you run into thermal throttling it's not because the NAND is running too hot. It's because the controller is running too hot.

        NAND is best to run warm. Running it below optimal temperature causes degradation and shortens the life the of the drive.

        If you're going to stick a heatsink on something like this it should ONLY contact the controller.

  Be warned, I tried to buy the 1 TB version of this back in July and it took over 4 weeks with no tracking details. Emailed Amazon and they said it must have "got lost in transit". Thankfully I got my money back but I'll always prefer to get items sent from Aus for this very reason.
