    where's the deal?

    this is like a FYI

  • +6

So the deal for new customers is worse than for existing customers?

    • +4

      yes $200 > $150

  • It's a good FYI.
    moved from 80GB/year to 30GB/year.
"Tawiwan" is not really a country name.

    • +1

      :D Typo on their site.
      I fixed it here.
Their Web Developer seems lazy. The title still has the spooky 'HURRY OFFER ENDS 10 AUGUST.' note.

    • Taiwan have their own president by democracy votes, military, and currency. I don't see why it is not a country.

      • +7

        It was listed as "Tawiwan"

        • +3

Haha, when I read that, I was like ‘oh boy…’ but quickly realised you were just pointing out a typo.

Former leader of China ran away there and set himself up in a haven away from Mao and the troops and declared themselves a new country. Probably should be it's own country by now but China say it is a breakaway province of corrupt firmer leaders and belongs to them.

        • They probably also think South China Sea belongs to them. You know, it's in the name

pffft, already overpriced and only been released for few hours.

  • Plus $15 for all other international calls

  • +4

This isn’t a deal at all.

  • +4

No deal here…. just regular price. Belongs to forum

    • +1

      Yep

Just received this text from Boost -

we're always working to give our customers simple and great value products. We are making some changes behind the scenes, which means from 13 October, international roaming will no longer be available. But don't worry, it will be back in the future. Find out more and your options at bst.st/ircl

    • +1

Yes, already mentioned by some members here
I read the details at their Website. Seems like coming back only by mid-2021.
Is there a COVID angle to this? Very low revenues due to International Roaming now?

What happened to the 12 month/$150 plan. That's all I need and I have two family members to put on. At $200 there are other deals more worthwhile.

    • If you are talking about a new activation, then the $150 plan is no longer available.

Existing Boost Customers still have the following Recharge Options:
      $100 | 60GB | 6 months
      $150 | 80GB | 12 months
      $200 | 150GB | 6 months
      $300 | 240GB | 12 months

      • My plan expires in Dec. My question is, if i recharge now for the 12mnt $150, will the expire reset and hence new expire date Sept 2021 and data reset too?

        • If you recharge $150 before your current plan's expiry, the plan doesnt stack, so if you recharge today, 01-Sep-2020, you would get 365 days expiry until 31-Aug-2021.

Your existing data will be valid till your current expiry date (in Dec).
The new 80GB data of your $150 recharge that you do today (01-Sep-2020) will be valid till 31-Aug-2021.

Are you thinking of doing this just to add some data to your plan? Have you exhausted your current data balance?

          • @djoz: Oh i see. so the key is to recharge before it expires. No, i still have some data left. I will wait till it nears the expire date and do a top up. Thanks for the clarification.

          • @djoz: "Your existing data will be valid till your current expiry date (in Dec)." Unfortunately this is not my experience renewing in early Aug. Luckily, I only renew 5 days prior but lost the entire unused data allowance (almost 70Gb) there and then…

Hope others will have better luck but just watch out and check to make sure

      • Thank djoz - will the $150 | 80GB plan for new customers come back ? I'm happy to wait for a bit but if it's not then will go somewhere else.

        • +1

Doesn't look likely. Even this new $200 plan with 85GB is actually 30GB + 55GB Bonus for activations until 26 Oct 2020.

Post 26 Oct 2020, new activations will just get 30GB (unless the offer of bonus data is extended).

          • @djoz: OK - lucky for those on the existing plan then as they can still recharge. The Woolies $150 plan mentioned by JamesLucas looks like my best option then.

    • +2

Cellmate are offering this deal for $160. $10 extra should suit your needs I assume.
However the Woolies 12mth plan with 10% off once a month is looking a better option, if you don't need international.

      • +2

Thanks - that Woolies $150 plan looks perfect

  • +1

    $256 gets you 12months and 240GB

  • +3

Be wary though, if you sign up for this plan you'll need to find a new plan next year as recharging $200 will only get you 30GB of data at that point.

  • You have missed the actual deal for $160
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/562509

  • Will not be able to access OTP sent via SMS while roaming overseas

Will Boost wifi Calling work while overseas?
Even in Australia my iPhone only switches to wifi callings when the network signal is weak.
Alternatively I can manually force wifi calling by switching to Airplane mode while keeping wifi ON and network OFF

Anyone currently residing overseas could try manually forcing to wifi calling but I am not sure if Boost is doing an ip filter.

  • Was on sale less than a day ago for 160 this isn't a bargain.

  • If you can't be sure whether you will get < 5 Mbps download speed before you buy the deal, you can't be sure there is a deal.

So I'm voting this down, to let other potential customers know, that this might not be a deal.

Boost / partial Telstra is 1 to 4 Mbps

I was getting 105 Mbps with Vodafone and 47 Mbps with Optus.
(11km from Melbourne, in the suburbs).

    • What makes you say you will get <5Mbps download?

  • so what's the internet speed for this services?

  • This old, now 110GB, and $180 until Xmas.
