About porting your own number to Boost:

You can request porting your own number to Boost when activating the SIM. Before porting number, contact your current service provider to confirm personal details. Make
sure your Name and Date of Birth registered with the number are 100% correct including spaces. Ask to update your details if anything is incorrect. Once confirmed, provide
the exact same details to Boost to initiate the porting. Some carriers will send you a SMS to authorise the porting request, so make sure the current SIM is inserted until the
service is disconnected. Telstra users need a separate blank SIM (Boost will send you for free) to finish the process.

Please contact Boost Mobile on 1800 100 933 if you have further questions.

Thanks for supporting small business.

  • Can I purchase it now and activate by December ?

    • +1

Hi Raj, The current sims we wil be shipping can be activated untill April 2021 so yes you can definately buy now and activate it by December this year.

      Thanks
      Team @ Cellpoint

      • OP, Boost are cutting International calls starting 5 October 2020

        • +1

No they aren't - you can still make calls from Australia to international numbers. They are stopping international roaming.

          https://boost.com.au/get-help/international-roaming-changes/

          • @matt_will_fix_it: bugger… I used that to get SMS confirmation codes when overseas… but since it's unlikely I'll be able to go OS for the next 12 months and boost say they will relaunch int roaming next year, it'll work out! Tho not sure if we'll have to pay for receiving sms while roaming in new system…

            • +1

@Ntsh: When I go overseas, I put my sim in a spare phone and use Pulse SMS. I leave the phone with a family member in the event anything goes wrong with it (hasn't so far).

The spare phone is the primary, and my main phone is then setup as an additional device and I use that to send / receive texts.

              https://messenger.klinkerapps.com/overview/

I paid the 11USD for a lifetime membership years ago. Money well spent.

              • @knk: thanks.. .but how is pulse different to signal etc?

                • @Ntsh: No idea, probably competing products? Never used signal.

          • @matt_will_fix_it: Not a good news for my mate who is stuck overseas due to covid. I think he is using verification sms for various things now. Thanks for the information and will inform him.

  • Can it be used for the existing Boost users? Anyone knows?

    • Hi @allenrong, This offer is for new customers only activating a new number or porting the number from any other carrier other than Boost Mobile.

      Thanks
      Team@Cellpoint

If you’re already on $150 plan, I can’t think of a reason to switch onto this one. After all existing $150 customers can still top up with the existing plans.

      • Is that so?

        • +3

          https://imgur.com/a/unWQBuF
I assume that’s the case? It’s a very similar policy when I was on Vodafone as well. As long as you don’t walk away, you can keep your plan even if it’s no longer offered.

          • @xmagic: Thanks for noticing this xmagic!
I was wondering who I would port to after the 12 months but it seems now I don't have to

I checked the website and still a bit hesitant that I've interpreted this right.

So do all of you guys activate the pre paid auto recharge for $150? Does that technically count towards rolling over of the data? Or do you guys set a reminder to do a manual recharge sometime in the last week?

            Great deal OP!

            • @SillySorjai: I don't think it's possible to roll over the data from these 12 month plans at all?
I'm happy to stand corrected on this, but that's my understanding.

      • Hi, Do you know when is the last date to recharge with $150 for existing customer? My plan runs out in December first week.

        • +1

          Never.

      • did they abolish that plan?

      • +1

I'm currently on $150 plan and if I try to recharge now it's showing me below options in 6&12 months expiry.

        $100 - 60GB - 6 months
        $150 - 80GB - 12 months
        $200 - 150GB - 6 months
        $300 - 240GB - 12 months

I will check again in couple of days to make sure I check after 1st Sep 2020. If it stays this way, I would be a very happy Boost customer. They can also kind of restain the customers this way.

        • +1

Yes, existing customers are not impacted.
As an Existing Customer you stay on 'Boost Anytime Plus' plan.
New Customers will be onboarded on to 'Boost Anytime Ultra' plan.

        • I ported in just over the weekend with the $150 plan - using Auto-Recharge section in the app gives me the $150 plan as an option

  • +9

Previous $150 prepaid starter kit with 80GB data, now $200 with 85GB data

$150 is better, and still can be found somewhere, maybe $135 to $150.

    • -6

unfortunately you cannot activate these 150 pack anymore, most retailers already asked to turn those packs back to Boost or discard them

      • -1

Just found it on telstra new policy.

Telstra/Boost changed the policy so frequently, let us see if there is any new version for $150.

      • +3

I still have a brand new $150 starter pack which expiry 02/2022… I plan to port over to Boost later this week

So, do U think I can still use this pack? If not, boost will refund?

        • As long as you port-in/activate before the expire date(in your case before 02/2022), you should be fine; I saw it on earlier deals.

        • Please let us know if you can activate, thanks,

          • +1

@sunaus: Tried few mins ago, my $150/ 80gb/ 12mths SIM has expiry date of 24/02/2022, but i couldn't activate it, getting this error

"The SIM serial or service number entered is invalid or is already active. Check that you’ve entered the correct SIM serial or service number before trying again. If you’ve already requested to activate your Pre-Paid service, allow up to 4 hours for your activation to complete. When complete, you’ll receive a confirmation email, SMS or both from us."

Anyone facing same issue trying to activate?

            • -1
              • +1

                @sunaus: :(

i bought this sim kit from CellMate, emailed them and got their reply… was asked to return the SIM kit for full refund.

                • @DarthLord: If you prefer the option of taking up the original $150 deal rather than a refund then tell them to honour the sale or you'll take it to the TIO. Contact Boost and give then the chance to activate your purchase before contacting the TIO. Using the TIO's powers is no big deal but mere mention of them sends shivers down Telstra's spine ime.

  • hmmmm is it worth the extra $50 price hike? that's an increase of $4.17 a month……. to be fair that is an extra 5GB per year (0.147GB/month)

edit: hey! not bad for $160!

    • +3

Pretty good discount though, I think the $150 version was most often discounted to $135, so it's more like $25 more expensive than before.

      • i'm just glad they kept it at a somewhat reasonable price still…

    • -1

You must be pretty lite users for 85g for 12 months.

      • I have been on the $150/80GB/12 month plan and it expires in less than one month.

I have 54.438GB left it says and I use my phone 24/7.

        • +4

You really should spend some time sleeping.
          And eating.

      • If you want more data you can always get the $300 package which often goes on sale for $240

  • According to the Telstra T&Cs, they're only offering 30GB. https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consume…

Mind you, they've been wrong before…

    • Hi @ Mel, This will be updated by midnight or early morning tomorrow. We have also mentioned this in the add that this particular offer goes live from 01 Spetember 2020.

      Thanks
      Team @ Cellpoint

      • +2

        That is the updated documentation!

  • -4

    whats' the deal ??/

    • +1

Hi @ CDG, We have the entire offer mentioned in the add.

      Thanks
      Team @ Cellpoint

  • +1

Wasn't the old deal $100 for 60GB and 6 months ($200 for 120GB and 12 months) ? Now it's $200 for 85GB and 12 months. It's definitely a poorer offering but… The Cellpoint discount makes it slightly more palatable.

  • +9

Haiya…. Boost has boosted their price…..

  • +7

I am on the old 12month deal - The new $200 is a dealbreaker for me.

My partner and myself will now look for alternatives to Boost once renewal comes around.

    • if you want just Telstra network and unlimited international calls/txts to some countries and not much data then better to start with Belong :)

      • Don't know belong has unlimited international call included in their plan

      • +7

But the coverage isn't the same.

Boost is access to the whole Telstra Network compared to the wholesale part.

We have just driven 600km North of Perth where the kids lost their coverage several times on Belong, while those on Telstra and Boost had far less dropouts.

        YMMV,

        • +2

Yep, Boost $150 for 80GB 12mth with full Telstra Network access was a cheap price for a premium product, too good to last it seems =(

      • So what am I missing? Belong plans here look crap value..
        https://www.belong.com.au/mobile/plans
I'll be looking to move away from boost after this price hike too, but obviously not to one of those Belong plans

    • +1

Why? They're grandfathering customers on the existing offer…

      • That is good to know

      • Long term or temporarily?

    • +1

      Just found this:
      Woolworths Mobile $150/84GB/12Mths Telstra Network
      https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Plans/Woolworths-Phone…

      • +2

        No international call tho

        • WhatsApp?

          • +1

@AEKaBeer: if whatapps is classified as international calls, then all Belongs, Telstra, Kogan is the same.

so people may prefer paying $10 more for the international call but not 10% off at Woolworths each month.

            • @SnoozeAndLose: That's fair, just saying that there are free workarounds to call people overseas.

              • +1

@AEKaBeer: Many people who need international call is for an elderly relative, including myself.

So they may not even have smartphone, also when you need to contact the local authorities at their home country, WhatsApp, the zoom is not applicable.

Just try to explain the situation people may need international call mins.

      • +2

@teaBagger If you go with WW, follow the instruction here to get another $30 off https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/557375

      • +6

Note that this is not quite equivalent, it's the Telstra wholesale network (similar country coverage to Optus for 4G, notably worse than Telstra full network).

        • How does ALDI mobile compare? Are ALDI full Telstra or wholesale?

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: also wholesale, so not the same coverage as Boost

            • @avgbowlofpho: Agree, I've found Aldi is sh!t at my bush block…Optus was far superior (in my location….YMMV)

          • +3

            @[Deactivated]: https://www.reviews.org/au/mobile/boost-mobile-review/#:~:te….

"As of 2020, Boost Mobile is the only MVNO in Australia with access to Telstra’s full 3G/4G network, which reaches 99.4% of Australia’s population. Other MVNOs using the Telstra network only have access to the provider’s wholesale network, which covers 98.8% of the population."

            • @[Deactivated]: Is that difference to access significant? How problematic can it be if you commute and use in CBD?

              • @PeeDee: Depends on your location. Some people in some areas have dropouts but that happens for people on full Telstra and Optus occasionally, depending on location. In general the wholesale network shouldn't be a major problem in major centres. There's a map comparing the two in the link above . If you google you'll probaby find more detailed coverage maps for your local area. A quick search brought this up: https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/our-coverage

          • @[Deactivated]: I was ALDI for 5yrs before Boost and had no problems.

No problems apart from my Prepaid component (the money that expires after 365 days) disappearing for no reason even though I paid for a pack monthly. (the bast@rds)

      • +2

boost recharge is still $150 80gb 12 months full coverage.

    • +1

Know what you mean tB, they've upped the price by 33++% with little useful benefit for many people. Having said that, for people who make multiple international and hundreds of national calls, and heavy data users, $200 is a ridiculously low price for 12 months usage.

If you don't fall into those categories ALDI Mobile uses the Telstra wholesale network and you can purchase a 12 month super pack plan for $99 - usually twice a year June/July and Jan.

    • I thought if you are on that old plan you can keep renewing at $150?

      • +1

I have the same thinking, boost just does not take anymore old 80GB $150 plan for new customer, existing customer can still renew the old plan. If not, that's bad, I will move to aldi mobile as mentioned above.

        • can we renew plan? Mine expires on December 12, can i renew at 150 in December? Or if i renew now what happens it adds 12 months to after December 2020

          • @USER DC: If you renew now your 12 months start now. They don't stack with existing recharges.

            • @sinners007: Shit then i gotta wait for kogan 90 day bargain plan, then switch to belong or boost as new customer

    • +1

What if I told you the old plan is just being grandfathered, and that all you need to do to retain it is recharge?

      /thread

    • If you use Auto-Recharge it'll still give you the option to recharge on the $150 plan

  • +1

Awesome, thanks for the heads up on the pricing change. Perfect timing for me, my previous $150 plan was expring on the 2nd so I just did the $150 top-up again now and setup auto-recharge… Might give me access to the $150 plan next year too (:

    • Yeah mine was up on the 6th, so going to get a cheeky recharge in before midnight.

      • my plan has less than two months expiring, if recharge 12 months, does the new expiring date will add current two months plan?
after tonight, there is no more $150 80GB 12 month plan renew, isn't it? confused.

        • Be careful, I'd assume you forfeit the 2 months.

My understanding is that Boost is grandfathering the plan for current 150 subscribers

  • how about international calls to fiji?

  • If we are already on Boost 12 months plan, do we need to change to catch or kogan plan for a month before we can change to Boost 12 months plan again? Will 1 month with another provider enough?

    • They're grandfathering existing customers…

  • Glad I kept the previous $150 plan. Not sure how long will it last for current customers.

    • You can just keep recharge and continue your current 150 plan. The won't cancel it unless you jump 2 another plan.

      • May you please advise about the source of this information? Thanks.

        • +4

haha, you funny. I am not writing a report to my professor here. You can simply find a recharge tunnel in both boost webpage and the boost app. Though the recharge tunnel in boost official website can not be easily accessed, I can provide it here.

          https://boost.com.au/shop/150-prepaid/

  • Does this mean the $150 starter kits won't work anymore?

    • Also interested in if Boost honors the existing $150 starter kit.

      • +1

If you bought it with a certain activation date, eg Jan2021, they have no choice. Just mention the TIO (Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman) if anyone tries to give you grief.

    • +2

There's an expiry date listed on the back of the starter kit. I was informed very clearly by the store they can be activated up until that date even if the $150 kits are discontinued in the interim.

      • +1

I hope so too! I have two packs that I’m activating much later (they expire March 2022) and I was told it will be fine to activate

        • +1

Yeah we should be right. I need to activate mine by this weekend so I'll report back if there's an issue.
