I don’t know how long this will last but My Dan’s members can pick up one of these for only $60, which is almost $15 off the normal price.

I’ve not met a Singleton yet that I couldn’t be friends with so I’m really looking forward to this one. I’ve had a sniff and the aroma is great, but sadly it’s a wee bit early in the day to be trying some.

While you’re getting it, the Glencairn glasses are still on special so why not treat yourself to some of those as well?

Product notes:

The Singleton of Dufftown was built during the reign of Queen Victoria. The Singleton 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky is a vibrant, smooth and a naturally rich Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Sweet fruity notes and a lingering, pleasurable warmth, this unique flask-shaped bottle and blue flint colour glass draws its inspiration from the 19th century, when flask-shaped bottles were customary for easier transportation and less breakages, particularly when travelling on horseback.

  • Dad loves Singleton, so I might pick up a bottle for him

  • I think member's special last one month.

$60 isn't bad. Their Master Selection is a good speyside, on par with Glenfiddich 12, and better than Monkey Shoulder IMO. 12 should be even better.

    • Typically one month. Some last longer than that.

    • Dont think thats the 12YO is it?

    • That is Master, not the 12.

As others have said this is a different Singleton, but don’t feel bad because it’s also a top drop. Slightly different profile and just as tasty!

      • my bad, LL one is a different one.

  • I had a bottle of this a few months ago when Aldi had it on special.

I generally appreciate single malts for their personality.

My bottle of Singleton of Dufftown had none, zero. It was as flavoursome as laboratory alcohol in distilled water. No flavour, no aroma, just ingestion of alcohol.

They say that single malt batches vary. Fair enough, but each batch is surely tasted by a professional at the distillery before going out. The batch I tasted should never have gone out the door. It was an insult to the "single malt" tradition, and an abuse of the term "singleton" which indicates something unique, special, not ordinarily available, not to be repeated.

No-one was going to drink the bottle I had. I poured it down the drain, first time ever.

Should return it to Aldi under dissatisfaction.

      • Or relegated it to the bottom shelf for the festive boofing season.

    • Strange experience, I wonder how common.

I came to say singleton is great, in that you can drink it for a whole night, without the flavour becoming overwhelming.

Hard to see your way through half a bottle of Laphroaig, for example. But if you want someone accessible and admittedly bland, although very smooth, this is a good drop.

I've only tried it twice though. Once in Scotland. Once in Aus, perhaps 4 years and 2 years ago, respectively. So maybe it's me that had the unique experience and you're right. Although it tasted like alcohol. Was it good alcohol? The kind that doesn't want to jump back out of your stomach when you swallow, like poison (Johnnie red for me) but something swallow and your gut says "yep that's fine that's food".

And lol at the word singleton, perhaps the not to be repeated part rings true for you.

Tamdhu, Glenlivet, jameson 10 would be similarly smooth and bland but very drinkable in my opinion.

      What scotch do you like?

I had to check twice that this scotch wasn't completely made up for The Simpsons.
