I got a bottle from Dan Murphy's in July of 2024 for $109.75. I wouldn't pay more than $120, don't encourage these ridiculous prices!

Damn straight! That's also how I like to drink this badboy. Stay strong and resist the temptation until prices are more reasonable, so less than $120.

It's not an unusual price (see CamelCamelCamel).

But you never know the last time that it will be available at this price. They've recently switched distributors in Australia, so we can't rely on the past.

    Going for $224.99 at Dans.

It has literally doubled in price since covid. That's crazy.

    • $225 is mental. I LOVE this scotch, but that's out of hand. Considering these $50 - $70 specials that are quite enjoyable.

I'll keep both on hand for a while, just try to sparingly get through my Lagavulin 16.

What on earth is going on with laga? Used to be best bang for buck dram out there at around $100 why are we being extorted?

    • Two words: Ron. Swanson.

    2015 Silver Outstanding Medal Winner

Not even gold. Which one was gold winner then?

So glad I bought a bunch of bottles when they were around $100. $120 I'd think about it, anything over and nah.

    • Wholeheartedly agree, there's a lot of good competition at better price points too. Rapt I got em at a similar price but wouldn't pay a cent more next opportunity

  • F me, 225 bucks now?! this is a great whiskey but wouldnt pay those prices. such a shame.

  • Just wait for more of the limited releases to get cleared out for $100. Cask strength, and there's been several opportunities to grab the 2021 and 2022 varieites over the past few months. Seems to pop up on Amazon a bit lately.

  • Terrible deal. Dan’s have been much better than this even recently

  • The 16yo is good, but after doing a tasting at the distillery I prefer the 8yo. Still, I'm buying this 🤪

  • How does it taste compared to an Aberfeldy 12 year old? Wondering if it is really worth the double price?

    • +1

Taste is so personal, and value double so. No one can fairly say that this is better than the Aberfeldy 12. The Laga 16 is an excellent gentle high peat whisky, probably one of the best from Islay. Given that Aberfeldy doesn't use peat they can't be compared that would be like comparing rum and vodka.
