The updated version of the DS1019+ is here, uses the same internals as the new DS920+ but has the extra drive bay. Sports the newer J4125 Celeron, and DDR4 RAM.
Additionally now has two eSATA ports on the back for expansion units taking this to a 15 bays capability where the DS1019+ could only get to 10.
Still somewhat expensive over the DS920+ however the extra drive bay and expansion may suit some people better. This price is at least $85 cheaper then the usual outlets where it is priced at $1295/$1299.
After watching the reviews of this it’s still a bit of a confusing product in terms of the features over the 1019+. Yes it has the slightly improved processor and more network interfaces but no 10Gbe and nothing else really of substance. I guess this is a reasonable saving for a just launched product but I’d still stick to the 1019+ if you can get it for mid $900’s after cashback etc.
