Just received a camelcamelcamel notification that this has dropped to it's lowest price ever at $49. It looks like Amazon are matching JB Hi-Fi, so if you prefer to purchase from an Australian store here is the link. (note that click and collect is free, but delivery will cost you).

I have one of these in the garage. It is easy to setup, just plug it into a power outlet and download the Kasa Smart app, available on both iOS and Android.

I find notifications for movement/noise are instant, but it does take a few seconds to open the app and view the live stream. It also works great with your Amazon Echo Show if you have one.

      Same regarding the Tapo. The C200 has tempted me a few times when on special because it has pan/tilt for the same money as this, but I baulked at having to run a second app. Not sure why they can't just make them cross compatible.

        Personally I find the Tapo cameras much better since you can have a local stream and record\view in Synology\iSpy\Iris etc.

        The Kasa ones can only stream up to cloud and back down again if I recall.

    Great cam and can be powered by a portable battery. Free subscription thing gives you 12 hours of footage on the cloud. Quality is great and has two way audio (not great but ok)

    Excellent find at this price

      My use case for the one in my garage is for parcel drops (I can open the garage door remotely) and security for the times when the garage door is temporarily left open.

      Other uses I can see may include watching over pets, elderly family members or as a baby camera. Not technically 'security' purposes, but useful nevertheless.

      The most obvious (other than not being wireless) is that these are not weatherproof. Notification wise they should do the same job.

    I got mine from Officeworks a month ago for $79, at the time they were offering full access to their cloud storage service for free for Australian customers on the TP-Link website…You're suppose to get 12 hours of cloud history with your purchase, I was only able to access the last 2-3 hours on mine. Other than that, this is a solid camera for the price.

      Just read through the FAQ in the source you provided and this is a worthy note, so will add it to the OP.

      I can currently view every event for the last 30 days, at about 10 events per day. It will be a shame if this requires a subscription from next week although I think I'll get by for my use case on a 12 hour rolling window.

      It means videos are been recorded and uploaded to their servers via the Internet. You have to download their Kasa App on your smartphone to access your videos online. They say they offer 12 hours of rolling recording history for free, the extra 30 days worth of storage is a service sold separately.

          No, it does not have an SD card slot.

          The KC105 does, but looks to be a US model and not for sale here.

      I would say yes, but note the slight delay from notification to viewing the camera that I mentioned in my post.

      No - I bought mine (well, the PTZ version)for this reason and I'm returning it. The camera is good for recording events but not for real time constant viewing. The camera 'times out' after 10 minutes; I'm guessing because it serves everything to the cloud and then back to you phone (and to enable constant streaming would require TP Link to have significant resources on the back end).

      As a result, we turn the feed on but it cancels the app or stops showing after 10 minutes on our Google devices. It will send notifications (SMS) when bubs moves/makes noise, but we want constant, real time feedback video/audio during the night (we sleep through the notifications). Apparently the nest cams allow this, though they are about $200 more.

        I am currently using it as a camera for my toddlers room (1 year old and 3 years old) with an old iPad Air 2.

        First thing is you need to set the screen to never turn off on its own. If it goes to sleep, then you lose all live stream. It gets a bit irritating at night sometimes as it can be a bit bright with the iPad screen on. The live stream is slightly delay (1 sec).

        The app sometimes get stuck and the live stream pauses. Or sometimes the app crashes. Sometimes it complains and try to cut off after 10 minutes but if you exit the app and try the live stream again, it works again.

        For a toddler room, I would guess that is not really a big issue but for a baby, you might want it to be more reliable. There is also no room temperature monitoring which I think most baby monitor provide.

      Fair enough. Thank you all for the feedback. We currently run a Withings Home Cam which is OK, but tends to glitch. I’ve ended up plugging it into a TPLink smart plug to reset it every few hours.

      Too good to be true.

      I've had good results using a xiaomi dafang with dafang hacks firmware as a babymonitor. Cloud disabled and can view RTSP stream via tinycam app, VLC, etc. It has a tripod mount, so put it on a gorillapod and attached it to the cot.

    It appears for only an extra 20 bucks the Tapo C200 gives you pan and tilt capability plus local storage on an SD card. That seems like a great deal.

    Can anyone with Tapo cam and Google Home Hub confirm whether you can stream cam feeds to the hub?

    Google website has Kasa cam listed as "compatible cameras" but didn't mention Tapo.

    I know that you can use GA a to control Tapo no problem but can you stream the feed to the home hub?

      Wondering the same, my Xiaomi acts up sometimes and appears offline or takes minutes to connect. Xiaomi Home also seems incompatible with Google Home.

      Annoying but not sure if it's worth the upgrade for $50.

    From what I can see the one I bought has more features but why is the RRP of the ops one more expensive? Am I missing something?

    These are great. We have one to keep an eye on the dogs when not at home. Plus a couple of the pan and tilt versions. Great cameras for the price and the app is easy to use and get set up as well.

    Since the video footage isn't stored locally isn't it a concern in terms of security? There's like 1000s of home video feed hacks available on internet which the owners are not aware of!

    Thank you OP for this.

    I bought two from JB in store this morning and had them up and running in 10 minutes or so. The physical quality of the device is actually very good - small and perfectly formed :-)
