The Good Guys Returning Faulty Product to Different Store

Hi Guys.
Does anyone know about a good guys warranty policy for faulty or broken products?

I bought a kitchen application from good guys about 6 months ago and it starts making a loud noise when I use it and sometimes it's not working.
If I bring it back to good guys can I get a replacement? The price is under $250.

Also, there is no stock available where I bought so if I bring it to another store should be ok??

A cursory Google search says that good guys is not franchise run but company managed so it should be like Bunnings - all good.

    • Thank you. I may try another store then :)

I don't think Goodguys will replace appliances, they will send it back to the manufacturer for repair on your behalf and this service is free but you will be waiting longer than you bring to the manufacturer to get it repair.

    • I found this on the website. Maybe for online purchase??

"Automatic replacement for products under $250
Many products that cost under $250 can be time consuming to repair. All you need do is call The Good Guys Extended Warranty team on 1300 368 509. They'll give you a claim number to take with your faulty product to The Good Guys store nearest you. One of our staff will verify the fault and then replace it with a brand-new product up to the value of your original product price."

does it mean they will give me a new one??

        Why is extended warranty team?

It was different story for me just 3 months ago.

        • No Idea. I called them and they just transfered the call to the store where I bought.
          Thanks anyway.

If you’re talking about this page, that statement only refers to products purchased with an extended warranty before March 2015.

  • They used to replace appliances when they were franchises but since JB HiFi took them over store policies have changed a lot.

    Doesn't hurt to try OP.

Maybe. TGG may replace it on the spot, but it is more likely TGG will help you contact the manufacturer to organise a repair or replacement. However, it may not be free of charge, depending on what is causing the issue with your appliance. Either way, TGG have to help you.

I bought an LG fridge from a TGG in Canberra in early 2019, but the ice cube tray broke earlier this year. I went to a different TGG store in Canberra and asked how I could get a replacement, so the person at the sales counter called up LG, who proceeded to tell the sales rep “it is absolutely not covered under warranty, ice cube trays just don’t break”. The sales rep pushed back and LG eventually said to go to the authorised LG repairer in town to get their assessment. The authorised repairer ordered a new tray under warranty free of charge, no questions asked.

It should not matter which store you go to, as long as it is a TGG store (even for items purchased off TGG eBay store).

  • What did the Good Guys say when called them and asked this question and got an instant response? Seems like the logical first step instead of asking Internet randoms who take time to reply.

    • Sometimes the answers you get when calling a store depend on how the staff member feels on that day, or how well they were trained. It can be helpful to learn what other people's experiences have been so you can tailor your approach when contacting the store.

Isn't this what forums are for - sharing knowledge? It wouldn't have been helpful if someone just replied to your post saying "What did One Nation say when you called them?".

    • Come on mate, why do anything yourself when you can outsource it to the internet?! Obviously they will have a better answer then the actual store too!

      • yeah. they sometimes say different story one told me last time I have to take it where I bought!
That's why I want to know what can I do before I take my faulty product to any store.
        Anyway now all good :)

  • Don't get caught up in this store, that store. Just approach which ever store you want to (for whatever reason) and go from there. These major stores all have policies to cater for this sort of thing and going to one store other another is not necessarily going to change your outcome.

  • Thank you Guys who gave me comment.
    Jsut let you guys know.
I just went to nearest store and they siad they can't give me replacment. I have to leave it for the repair.
    So now all good!

  • Gonna steal your thread since is new ish. Is their warranty 1 year or 2. My microwave explode today and it's 2 weeks till it hits the 2 year mark. But LG offers 10 year warranty

    • You can deal with the manufacturer

      • :'( sounds like a pain XD

        • GG asked me to leave it and will take up to 3-7days so I just talked wiz LG through the live-chat
They gave me LG service repair near my address and it took only 1 day to fix.
Just contact LG first they will tell what to do

          • @BreadTwo: Only if I read your message a bit earlier. I messaged lg and they gave me the location of the service repair centre. But the good guys called me and told me I could bring it in for an assessment. Hopefully they will be quick cos my warranty is on a count down. (10 days left)
