  • How does this compare to CoolerMaster TX3 Evo?

    • not too sure how they compare to the TX3s but if you've got a 3600… this works a treat compared to the stock cooler.

    • +1

From what I can find (it's a little tough doing a proper comparison as most tests are using different hardware) it appears that the Deepcool is the slightly better selection of the two. Thermals are similar and I find more mentions of Deepcool being the quieter option. Reviewers seem to think very highly of the Deepcool for a budget cooler.

      • I have opted for the CoolerMaster because:
        1. Cheaper by app $10;
        2. Easy to install (no back plate).

In terms of how quite it is - the PC is as quite as the loudest fan. I find the TX3 as good as stock Antec fans. At least for now/winter anyway. When doing graphics work underload, noise level still manageable.

Temp to-date is between 26-60 degree celcius on i7 4770.

        • Link for coolermaster cheaper by $10?

            • @[Deactivated]: Link doesn’t work.

                • @[Deactivated]: I know it says AM4 in the description but the cooler itself is like 5 years old so is it possible that they might be selling old stock without AM4 brackets?

                  • +1

@mullman: Lol. I dont run Cooler Master's customer support line. Infor is available via their site as well online reviews.

Will be nice and contribute to the OZB community.

Design of this is quite clever (as well the cooler is lightweight), where CM provides 4 "legs/mount" that needs to be screwed into base of the heatsink. The Intel mount has 3 holes on each leg to cater for diff Intel CPUs. A separate mount set for AMD socket.

                    https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/cpu-air-coolers…

                    The rationale on TX3:
                    1. Easy to mount
                    2. Works well - based on online review (and now personal experience).
                    3. Cheap - $31 is CHEAP for what it offers.

P.S. pretty solid for a 5 year old design. At the end of the day, its all to do with simple physics, higher surface to air ratio - better cooling. A fan with higher airflow - better cooling. There's only so much that can be done in terms of air cooler's design.

                    • +2

@[Deactivated]: This one has the best performance. Much better than TX3. We call it Dark ice 400 in China, but we also call it Anti-human 400 in China because it is hard to install. However, in this price range, for performance, Anti-human 400 is the king.

                      • @CuteSean: This review reflects what you are saying about it being difficult to install. The guy had trouble with the legs popping out so he had to DIY it with actual screws…..gave him better benchmarks though

                  • @mullman: Nope I put one of these on a 3600 a couple of weeks back, it had a 'clip' bracket in the box as an option.

This is the best cheap CPU cooler you can find online. But in china, it only costs 20 dollars. Still, this is a very good cooler. It beats all CPU cooler online wit similar price tag. Many youtubers confirmed that/

      • Haha. Yea. Having to instal a backplate turned me away from many coolers for an existing system.

Insane how cheap some of the cpu coolers are via aliexpress/ebay, and the number of heat pipes!

        • +4

Not sure why a backplate is considered such a challenge, it's usually just a matter of lining up one piece with four holes in the motherboard and tightening four nuts to secure it.

          • @Diji1: 2019.You should try the older version. They remade it in 2019

        • Internals of the heat pipes might be cheap, which has affected performance for similarly shaped coolers in my experience.

GN has done an in depth article about the heat pipes

  • Is there a non-LED version available? Or RGB version?
The Blue colour doesn't go with my build unfortunately…

      • Thanks heaps.
I personally have no idea on these DeepCool coolers, how do they perform compared against the AMD Wraith Prism Cooler?

I have been using the Wraith Prism cooler for a while - it is doing a decent job cooling down my R5-1600AF but its also too noisy for my likings…

        • +1

The Deepcool is definitely better than the normal stock 1600AF/2600/3600 cooler (Wraith Stealth), but probably only similar cooling ability to Wraith Prism. I'd be a tad quieter I thik, but personally I wouldn't think it's enough difference to justify it as an 'upgrade' from the prism though.
(I have the Gammaxx GT I got on sale for ~$45 about a year ago on a Ryzen 2600)

@sharky_k: This is the best cheap CPU cooler you can find online. But in China, it only costs 20 AU dollars. Still, this is a very good cooler. It beats all CPU cooler online with a similar price tag. Many YouTubers and online reviewer confirmed that.

    • +2

I've had this cooler for a few years now. You can easily just cut the wires connecting the LEDs together. But obv you can't turn it back on if you decide you want it later.

    • With some snips, it can be made non-rgb.

Snowman 6 heatpipe direct touch with 2 fans for $40 bucks.

Very beefy and very good cooling ability in my experience.

You might be waiting a little while to receive, but it's a very capable HSF.

    • How are the less known PRC branded coolers? Found alot on ebay/amazon/aliexpress, and they do look "cool" if not better design (e.g. more heatpipes).

Can't find review online in terms of performance.

Review from the Good Old Tech Yes City

        Edit: Another review

        • +1

          Looks good.

Was considering it when buying the TX3, a few reported clips snapping off etc.

Opted for an easier to instal TX3 since no OC on my end.

    • The same on Aliexpress is cheaper: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000307321126.html - $29.38+GST and
$20.72+GST plus the usual cashback and discounts available..

I always wonder how the mainboards cope with one of these hanging off sideways - that's a lot of weight putting pressure on the board!

Also another review of the variants here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-48c9BiP78

      • +1

That is a smaller unit (90mm fans), not a lot of fins (spaced out quite a bit and not very large) works pretty well though, but two fans won't improve thermals. Best for builds that are tight for space and you want good cooling performance.

*I have a couple of the one you linked on Aliexpress

Snowman is designed better IMO, 4 or 6 heatpipe version. Two fans definitely improve thermals on this one.

If you transport your PC in a vehicle, pull out the HSF or lay the case on it's side.

        • Thanks - hadn't noticed the fan size but ordered 3 of the dual fan 6 heat pipe models for a couple of Ryzen builds I'm waiting on parts for, and a (rather silly!) purchase I just made from China - https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.5d0e2e8dEQl… - I'm expecting the cooling on an i9-10900F in that form factor wont be great, but with the case cover off just maybe this will help (assuming the board can handle the extra power draw of the additional fan!)….

      • works fine…that is the role of the backplate, to distribute the weight. I have installed two of these coolers (FX-8150, and i7 3770) it coped well with both systems. For the ~$40 it costs it is a solid buy, keeping CPU temps low whilst being quiet enough not to be noticeable. I would not choose a tower style cooler that does not have a backplate.

I run a Noctua NH-D14 in my personal rig, and that definitely needs its backplate.

Yep i got the other snowman model with 4 heat pipes. I used Arctic silver with it, same stuff i use my high end torch builds. I think both the deepcool and the snowman use the clip so they will both be equally hard to fit. Its best taking the board out of the case or at least taking out the GPU and ram.
      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32958609112.html?spm=a2g0s.9…

My Ryzen 5 3600 is doing 4.3ghz all cores staying at about 73 degrees running Cinebench in loop after an hour. Mind you it is winter so no doubt summer it will be hotter.

    • Mine came with a crushed heatpipe after waiting 6 weeks. That was before Covid

      • +1

Totally crushed? Take photos and ask for a discount, refund or replacement etc.

    • Interesting brand. Thanks for sharing!

  • -2

seems like a hyped up post- not a bargain when other retailers have it locally for same price

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Cooling/CPU-Coolers-AIR/…

    • +2

      FREE shipping @Amazon.

    • +1

Cheapest shipping estimate for me is $14 putting the Scorptec listing at $53, not $39.

You don't need Amazon Prime to qualify for free shipping on this order.

  • Running one of these on my overclocked 4690k and getting great temps. My fan bearing started dying after a few years - not sure if I got a dud or they're just not great quality. It's a standard 120mm fan though so chucked a spare on and works fine.

  • How hard is this to install compared to the competition?

    • +1
      • Interesting video but if you can use the proper mounting brackets for the Intel CPU why not use the stock screw in bracket for the Ryzen?

    • I love these coolers but always seem to cut my fingers when installing them, just minor cuts from the fin blades though

    • It's not so much difficult as it is scary. Lots of mounting pressure is felt more when you're doing the clamping down instead of screws.

  • I have been watching the excellent content on Bryan's Tech YES City YouTube Channel & also the content on PhilsComputerLab Channel for a few years now.

The Snowman Coolers are the Go for Price Performance if you can them delivered in a reasonable time frame from China, especially for Xeon builds on old X58 & X79 motherboards or with the “new” Chinese branded X79 & X99 Motherboards hacked together with Recycled Chipsets etc. from AliExpress.

What are people’s current experiences with ordering Electronics & PC Parts from China on AliExpress in the last Month and Half? Have the Delivery Times Improved? Reduced to same times before February 2020?

If you need Cooler ASAP for an LGA 1366 or LGA 2011 build maybe for go one of CPU Coolers on Amazon as the very few Stock LGA 1366 Intel Coolers listed on eBay are more expensive with postage from Australia Sellers than the Cooler Master TX3 is on Amazon ATM.

  • Cool deal bro

  • In terms of specs alone, how does this compare to the other deal on ozbargain for the Noctua NH-U12S?

    • +1

Lets just say you are comparing unripened 'Red Delicious' Apple with a fresh/crisp 'Jazz' Apple

  • looks so cool, wish i could use it as a desktop fan

  • Incredible cooler! Ryzen 5 3600 idles at around 35, and on cinebench r20 it peaks at 66-72 degrees.

    • What Cinebench score do you get? Have you OC the 3600?

  • Gah! I'd buy this if it weren't too tall for my Versa H18. This is a great budget cooler.
