    • are you eating or selling?

      • Eating. Should last a few months.

    • how was tiramisu?

      • +1

Not bad. I had high expectations though. I'd describe it as a coffee caramel flavour over 'Tiramisu'. Tim Tam was really good, coming from a non-chocolate lover.

    • How’s the flavor of the vegan choc?

      • Taste like bacon :) , tasty

    • Wow, it comes with 2 size of tubs? I thought they only provide a single size?

  • Are delivery done by the company? So not a lot of trucks available.

    • +5

yea we are doing it ourselves uneconomical to outsource and want to keep people busy

      • +2

Thanks to the lovely man who delivered the ice cream today!

  • +1

Got a tub of durian gelato today and am very impressed with the quality! Thanks OP for making lockdown a bit sweeter haha

    • Thats great, happy to hear, enjoy

  • -1

Took delivery of 2 tubs of durian gelato today. I too felt that they were on the sweet side and wished that the durian was more pronounced

    • +1

It a hard one, everyone has a different pallet, our newer stock we have toned down the sweetness on the Asian inspired flavors so it should enhance the natural taste of the durian fruit

    • +1

We do appreciate the feedback though

  • Anyone from the south east received their order yet? 🤤

    • +2

most are on the road today - some tomorrow

    • Yup, in Endeavour Hills and got my pistachio tubs in today!

      • I’m in dandy north and nothing as of yet! 😰

    • Received mine yesterday morning, inner SE suburb.

    • +1

Ok I received my order today and it’s so tasty!! My mum really loves the black sesame flavour and told me to order again when we finish the tub. I could taste little pieces in the durian flavour which is nice. Even though it is on the sweeter side, I’m still going to demolish the tub. Customer service is fantastic and delivery guy was nice. 10/10 would order again!

  • +1

Received my blood orange and strawberry cheesecake today. So yum! The kids lost their minds. Thanks and will order another tub or two as I’m sure this will go fast.

  • +1

I agree with the durian flavours not being strong enough. Normally you would expect to be able to smell the durian from afar but this was not the case. I would say it's ok overall.

    • Agree wasn't strong enough, a little fake flavour but it was okay.. Probably wouldn't order Durian again but would try other flavours.

Just got Rocher 6L and Pistachio 5L. I'm quite picky on my gelato so this was a bit of a gamble.

    First impressions:

They are food service massive tubs! Only crystallisation on the plastic film up top, none on the ice cream itself which tells me it's kept in a good temperature controlled room at the warehouse/factory.

It's 11am and I just got 2 big tubs of what looks like well churned ice cream, but screw it, that's the perk of being an adult.

    Texture:

    • Fantastic, not icy
    • kept just at the right temperature on the freezer truck.
    • Rich, creamy gelato. 4.5/5

    Taste:

    • Bit more sweeter than creamier (would prefer higher fat %) for my personal taste.
    • Pistachio flavour is there but a little more subtle compared to a proper gelateria.
    • Maybe a few swirls of chocolate/nutella/rocher filling would not go amiss on the Rocher, but was still pretty good.
    • Less sweet than supermarket gelato.
    • Compared against supermarket gelatos, 4/5.
    • Kept tempting me back for more, which is a good and bad thing.

    Value

    • Don't think you'll be able to beat on value at all. $25 for a gigantic tub is fantastic value, unless you can't finish it before your freezer burns it.

    Overall

    • 4/5 from me. Because it's stage 4 restrictions here, 4.5/5 cause I don't need to travel to get ice cream.
    • is there any way to prevent freezer burn?

      • +7

        @godofpizza
Yes, for ice cream crystallisation is the enemy. This happens when ice cream melts and refreezes (the reason why it has to be churned in the first place and not chucked in a freezer). In the supermarket if you see lots of ice crystals on the outside a tub, don't buy that tub.

You should set your freezer to the coldest setting if possible, and avoid opening/closing the freezer door.

If you take the ice cream out, scoop it into a separate container/bowl and put it back in the freezer immediately. Do not let the whole tub soften before you scoop/eat.

The rest is up to your freezer on how well it keeps the temperature. Some freezers will let temperature fluctuate more (hence the mini-melting events).

The best way however, is to eat the ice cream ASAP :D

        • +2

thanks for another reason to eat ice cream quicker.

    • +3

Just had a proper serve after lunch (oh my god so much gelato).

      Revision on taste:

      • Pistachio is growing on me. It's still subtle but I can appreciate the flavour now. Gelato is meant to be eaten a little softer than what it came out of the freezer (this is a trick some gelaterias use to make their ice cream taste creamier/softer).

      • Rocher is a winner here. Rich and handsome taste, creamy in your mouth. Still think it could use with some swirls of chocolate though. A solid 4.5/5.

If you guys have kids and they like ice cream, they're gonna go bonkers as another ozbargainer has mentioned. And it won't kill your hip pocket either, just make sure they make full use of the 1 hour exercise time!

  • I concur that the texture is very nice and smooth, and the gelato is not too sweet.

However I would have liked the flavor to be a bit stronger (coffee gelato).

    • +1

I didn't mind the strength of the coffee flavour. Didn't like the coffee bean deco in it. Thought the flavour was just right. My son loves it. Found the blood orange a bit tangy, and has a very strong flavour. Still good, but not my favourite out of our two.

      • the beans are not roasted, so yeah…they do nothing

  • +1

My order arrived yesterday, so came pretty quickly. I got two big tubs of Boysenberry and Honeycomb gelato.

Tried the Boysenberry first and it was amazing! Super creamy, great berry flavour, maybe a touch on the sweet side but I like sweet. 9/10

Tried the Honeycomb next and it was the polar opposite. Not creamy at all, within seconds in my mouth it was practically like I was drinking slightly flavoured water. Not very sweet, and not very honeycomb-y unfortunately. Not sure what to do with my 6L+ of it, thinking of just binning it. 1/10.

    • +11

OP contacted me and is organising a refund for the Honeycomb tub. Much appreciated.

  • I received my choc and lemon and they are fantastic, great flavors on both. OP can you do a super deal on the arancini?

  • +1

I just wanted to leave my feedback from this deal. The gelati is very fresh, creamy and tasty. Well done. I got both golden time (gay) and also mint choc chip.

The golden time came with a clear plastic lid which wasn't ideal for storage but managed OK.
Now the mint choc chip came with a piece of celephane or cling wrap on the top. Storing was a PITA and I had to cut it up and put into several containers. The gelati was coming out the sides and ended up with fingers through it when I lifted the tray.

If they have have been in buckets with lids would have been much better for easy storage and sampling from the freezer.

But delivery was super fast and the line I got was when you leave a google review tell them the damn malaka that delivered your ice cream was a top bloke. Lol what a KIckass service.

Well done Bukkake and team. I will be back.

Next time at least have a plastic lid on the 2nd ice cream Ty.

  • Most the flavors I wanted out of stock, hope you churn some more and update here

    • +1

      What are you after

      • Durian and sesame :)

        • Sesame should be in stock, durian we only have 5l left

          • @MilkMIlk: Thank you, I just checked again, still saying out of stock. I'd like the 6l ones for the advertised prices. Maybe I will check later when you stock them up next week :D

            • @DraggyX: Ok I’m pretty confident we have some
              More sesame I’ll check ASAP

Ordered on a saturday, got it yesterday (monday). Crazy quick delivery. and the tubs we got taste great too (not too sweet). kudos to OP and Zio Glens for the top notch customer support and I'm glad they have ozbargain's support.

  • Did everyone get lids with theirs? We ordered 2 tubs, and 1 came without a lid. We aren't commercial so how am I going to deal with 9 months worth of ice cream and no lid?!?! :(

    • +2

Get a bunch of cheap containers and shovel it into those?

I too have underestimated the amount of gelato and icecream that's currently on it's way.

    • I got 1 lid and 1 without - not really a huge issue for us since it's not like I'll be packing something on top of it. But I will be chucking them into smaller containers to make it easier to take out of the freezer.

      • was it in s cardboard box without a lid?

        • The ice cream was in a plastic tub, but delivered in individual cardboard boxes.

  • +2

Mine got delivered today. Their Blood Orange flavour is soo good !!

  • Can anyone comment on the mango sorbet?

  • +1

We bought the berry sorbet and it's great. Nice flavour and texture.

Staff were very friendly when we came and picked up and even gave us a bag of fettuccine and 4 waffle cones. Highly recommend.

  • Order was delivered today! Thanks!

    • gotta wonder what does Fruits of the Forest taste like?

      • +2

I thought Fruits of the Forest and Choc Mint would be runnier, icier and more watery. Perhaps that was an incorrect assumption based on some fruity gelato I had in the past on Lygon Street 10 years ago.

They're both smooth and creamy! Just the right amount of flavour.

Choc Mint isn't too minty. I can taste some chocolate.

Fruits of the Forest hits your tongue with a strong taste of raspberry and strawberry mixed together. Similar to the stuff I've had at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm.

        • +1

thanks, so it also kinda like a fruit smoothie except for the super creamy ?

          • +1

@godofpizza: Peter's Raspberry Ripple from a supermarket is super creamy compared to Fruits of the Forest.

My wife thinks that the ice-cream from YVCI/Sunny Ridge is much more creamier and has a fruitier taste.

I'd say that Fruits of the Forest is slightly creamier than expected and has a rich fruity taste (my wife doesn't think it's creamy at all). I wouldn't change it.
