Good price now, but not the cheapest, i got my set at around $130 before EOFY.

    • Ditto on the price. I missed the $130 deal but am quite willing to wait for it to get around that level again.

  • What can you use these for that actually looks good? All the customer photos are cringey

    • Judging by the photos, those customers have dingey looking houses. Lighting alone is not going make a dingey looking house look nice.

    • I don't get the point of these at all. It's easy enough to create cool effects with the LED strip lights, but these? No idea.

      • What don't you get? I have both the LifX strip and these and much prefer these over strips, which you have to stick onto the back of the TV.
You can stick these onto the back of the TV as well if you wish to do so. I just have mine on the TV unit horizontally, which works just fine.

        • What does that do though? The only time I have seen that they look good, is if the room looks immaculate and designer in the first place, and you add ambiance because for some reason you can't add it elsewhere

          • @onlinepred: heard of bias lighting?

            • @keejoonc: Ah okay, cool haven't heard of that before. So for pitch black viewing and suffering eye strain

@onlinepred: I think it works, easier on the eyes. Obviously doesn't need to be this as a random lamp against the wall does the same thing if that's all you're after.

@onlinepred: Personally, I find it relaxing to turn off all main lights and just have these on and one floor lamp when I'm mindlessly watching tv after a long day at work.

      • The idea isn't to create cool effects, but to have bias lighting that's either synchronised with the content of your TV/monitor, or if you don't have a sync box, set to a static colour that compliments the content.

        • Personally I think strip lighting does a better job of this.

      • I always found that LED strip lighting would fall off the back of my TV over time so two of these on stands works better for me. Unless you want to use liquid nails….

        • Try the command removable stuff, depending on the size of the strips the decorative clips works well in my case. Just don't use them if you have lifx z strips as it damages the silicone as it's a tight fit. They do have a large size however which I use on the back of my monitor where I have lifx z strip.

  • Do you need a box or something to connect these to the TV to synch the colours? I know they need aHUB to run, which I have for Hue lights. But do they require anything else?

I saw they work with PC / Apple where you can download an app to synch the colour of content to the lights. But what about off normal TVs when watching netflix etc?

    • Yeah, you'll need a HDMI sync box. They cost a bomb, around $300 right now.

Don't understand why people would want this. It would get distracting real fast.

  • I got them because I run a full razer desktop the Hue synchronises with Razer synapse.
