  • Wow, you are associated with Amazon, so How is Jeff Bezos?

    • More like via their Affiliate/Associates program - https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

      • you cant use affiliate marketing links here on Ozb. OZB uses their own when not logged in or under preferences

  • Argh. Just bought a few of these at $90.

  • Can these be paired with the Arlo floodlight?

    • +1

the question is WHY? the floodlight itself already has motion sensor

      • +3

To trigger from another location. If I have this down the side of my house, once motion is detected it can flick on the floodlight at my back door so the trespasser thinks that somebody is on the case, rather then when they’re right under my nose.

For anyone finding Hue parts pricey, the Ikea Tradfri are compatible.

    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/search/products/?q=tradfri

    Bulb+ swtitch $15 is good.

Their motion sensor was marked and scanning at $12.50, though shows as $20 on the website.
Like the switch, it controls the light directly, rather than via the bridge though. And would need eaves for shelter.

    • Jumping in on this, I went for the Aqara hub and homekit integration with a raspberry pi for it all to play nicely. But it's slightly more involved than plug and play. Tons of guides out there though!

    • So if I understand that correctly, the IKEA motion sensor could be paired with Philips Hue Bridge?

      • +1

the IKEA motion sensor could be paired with Philips Hue Bridge?

Sort of. It will pair, and so join the same Zigbee network, but the sensor does not talk with the bridge, just directly controls the bulbs.
Hue bulbs can be controlled by both bridge and ikea sensor.

The Ikeas bulbs I've tried are totally compatible with Hue. Their dimmers can control Hue lights, but again direct, not via bridge.
So I have a mix, depending on what is needed.

Ikea motion sensors are good for security lighting or passageways, but not say bedrooms where you want to disable them at night.

        • Thanks for your detailed insights. Will give it a go with IKEA sensor.

    • Does ikea tradfri able to detect light illumination / lux?
Currently using indoor hue motion sensor to hubitat hub

      • I’ve heard Tradfri pairing is a little finicky compared to hue ones.. check reviews online

      • Yes but not software controllable like the Hue sensor.

Just two modes set by physical switch: night, or always.
        Not very smart.

Just be aware the Ikea TRÅDFRI is not supported by Hubitat - https://community.hubitat.com/t/ikea-motion-sensor/14254/19

        • Thanks, appreciate it.
Saved my time doing the research!

Assume this would work directly with an Amazon Echo Plus because ZigBee.. am I right?

    • -1

Those with home assistant, get one of these and control a mishmash of zigbee devices… Hue, xiaomi, tradfri, etc. Then u won't be limited to motion sensors from hue which are more expensive

      • I ordered a couple of those USB a couple weeks ago.. on the slo boat.
I will experiment with zha add on. Are you using this USB? What are the ikea sensors like? I have been using the aqara and find them great except they need the mode so they reset after 5 seconds rather than the 60 seconds..

  • Not related to the post, does anyone have bad experience with the amazon android app? It keeps showing "uh oh something went wrong" with a cute little puppy pic…it's so annoying… *not the puppy obviously….
