Good saving over local stock. Cheapest local price I could find is $100 more.

I know many people will say to wait for Ampere or RDNA 2, but if you're looking to buy now, this is a good price. 5600XT may be a good alternative also.

I've personally downgraded to this card while I could still sell my existing card for a good price (and due to not gaming as much) while waiting for Ampere.

I know many people will say to wait for Ampere or RDNA 2

Eh, that could be a decent wait especially if they only launch the high end cards first. If there are games you want to play right now, I'd just go for it.

    • +1

Ampere should be announced in two weeks

      • +4

Ye announced, as in its existence is confirmed, but when will I actually be able to get one in my hands, chances are its at least 2 months from now.

  • This or the 5600xt for $400? For FS2020

    • +1

It's difficult to say since it's not yet released. I'm also not sure if FS2020 favours AMD or Nvidia in anyway.

The 5600xt and RTX 2060 trade blows in a lot of games, or show clear victories in other titles, so I'd suggest they may be roughly comparable.

      • I believe if you get a 5600 XT with the 1750MHz core and 14Gbps memory VBIOS it's a 5700 6GB, at that point I think there is a clear winner.

        • The 5600 XT currently on OzB can be updated to that vBIOS.

          • @Ryballs: If you're talking about the Challenger D, yes it can be, but don't. It's got a terrible cooler. You'd be better off with an XFX THICC II Pro for $421 at Amazon US.

        • The RTX 2060 KO or the AMD 5600 XT is the better choice in term of future proof performance? Thinking about getting one of these to replace my R9 280x. Cheers.

          • @kodoq: Happy with my upgrade from R9 280x to Nvidia 2060 Super.

To my surprise, a few minor graphical glitches I had in games disappeared, so I guess it was the drivers or the card getting old, not the games.

      nvidia

i was in alpha and beta and the nvidia cards perform much better than amd, same with cpu for intel vs amd

    • The 5700XT is $600 via Amazon UK. It's a bit of a price jump but still quite undercuts the 2070 in terms of price. If that fits in your budget that is.

    • For pure performance it would probs be better, however rtx would support dlss 2.0 (which alone is worth it for new games) + ray tracing.

      • +2

assuming these features are adopted widely apart from the few games that currently support it

  • +2

KO is the one with 2080 die right? or has it changed ?

    • Should still be the one with 2080 die, but it performs the same with non-2080 die for gaming while consuming more power.

So unless if you are using it for non-gaming, it doesn't matter whether 2080 die or not.

    • Some 2060 KO at least initially used a variant of the TU104 chip (from 2080 non-S), possibly ones that didn't make the 2080 cut.

Not sure if that's still the same or even if it's a lottery. Still didn't perform like a 2080 due to other build factors but some tests revealed it better than a standard 2060 for non-gaming tasks.

Possibly an OK price in current climate. The next gen equivalent won't hit our shores until next year and 3080/70 will likely be relatively overpriced at first.

      • Really? I read 3080 September, 3070 Oct., and 3060 in November. This is potentially all speculation though. If AMD releases their cards early enough, it might speed up Nvidia's release dates this time around. Last time they effectively had no competition so they could drag out the release dates more. I have seen Oct/Nov quoted for the AMD release.

      • +1

NVIDIA would get shredded by everyone (including its shareholders) if it didn't have the 3060 ready to compete with next-gen consoles.

This series likely would have been announced back in May-June if not for covid-19, so that tells you everything you need to know about card validation and availability for 2020.

        • +1

I agree it would look bad - but in practice are they really competition? i.e. consumers out there that would pick up a PS5 rather than a 3060?

          • @Gmetal: USD $400-$500 for an entertainment device vs $250-$300 card that can go into a PC build as low as $300, but $450 for a similar specification list to a next-gen console.

They're not direct substitutes, but it's going to be the gaming card of choice if you go down the PC path, as more and more people are given controller latency issues as a growing interest in shooters that aren't CoD. That it will likely outperform the consoles is a bonus.

    • Don’t obsess over it… It’s a hit or a miss and the potential gain is next to nothing for everyday applications or gaming…

  • How will this go with an i5 4460

    • +4

It'll be quite a big bottleneck

To get a small bottleneck, you'd have to get a RX 570

    • I was using the nvidia RTX 2060 I bought last year (July 2019) with my i5-2500K system and it was handling 1080p gaming at high or ultra settings for most games with no issue.

I kept the GPU (RTX 2060 which cost me $440 from Amazon) and SSD from my old system and upgraded my motherboard (X570 chipset - so I can upgrade the CPU to a Ryzen 3 when they are released, possibly still even a Ryzen 4 next year or beyond), changed to an AMD CPU (AMD Ryzen 2 3700x), new RAM (DDR4 CL16 3200MHz) and a new PSU (750W so I could easily expand further in the next few years to a higher multi-core CPU or a top of the range GPU when they come out) when those items were on sale on ebay for 20% discount.

Being honest an i5-4460 is getting quite old, so you may want to upgrade (replace motherboard, RAM and CPU at the least) in a year or so anyway, depending on the games you play.

    • Keep in mind that bottlenecking does depend on how much of each part a program uses. That said, I'd say you'd get a CPU bottleneck in most cases.

    • I had a i5-2500K with a GTX 970. I upgraded to a Ryzen 5 3600 and with the GTX 970 I double some game frame rates with the same graphic settings. Others I could max out graphics and still increased the FPS. Before I would reduce the graphics to keep at least 60FPS.

So unless you are planning to upgrade your CPU soon, you would not see the full advantage of this GPU

  • +4

    Wait for 3060.

    • +5

      In about 6 months….

      • -1

They are about to announce end of this month

        • +4

I think down to 3070 will be announced… 3060 and lower likely the month after or even later in the year … But who knows they might announce everything… Lol

          • +1

@scud70: yeah most likely highest end cards first

            • +2

@Freestyle: At least wait for the announcements. Also, when the 30 series cards go on sale, current 20 series cards will drop in price.

              • +1

@AussieZed: I see this type of comment a lot but no one actually provides evidence of drops in past years (not attacking you, just asking). I've looked over pages recently to find whether prices do drop or not and everyone seems to have an idea but no evidence of it actually happening..

                • +1

@ishaboyavirski: Problem in the last few years is that each new series release has increased in price without a major improvement in equivalent performance which leads to prior series holding their value. If rumours are close to accurate there should be a major performance improvements with 30 series, and AMD competition so hopefully price to performance will be better which will lead to lower current series. It’s hard to see how much further they can drive up RRP

                  • @Wombatstew: That's an interesting point, I've not seen that. Thanks for the info. Have been holding out for RTX 2080 Super prices to drop around the ~$950-1000 mark and have been unsure if it (ever) will - might bite the bullet and buy the next cheapest because I'm super impatient and won't be buying the 30x series (assuming they're $1300+ and a few months off releasing the cheaper models).

                • @ishaboyavirski: It does happen. GTX560 dropped when the 600 came out. I bought one for $159 in 2012. Similarly, the 1060 came down when the 1160 came out.

  • +3

Great price, have ordered one for some video encoding work

    • I have a non Super RTX 2060 and I use it to encode 1080p video with NVenc / STAXrip - it has saved me probably weeks of time CPU encoding and with the slight loss in quality vs time saved I've been extremely happy with it.

  • So cheep!

  • +2

Just a FYI… My x570 itx board shipped from uk via dhl seems to have gone missing… So personally i doubt id order from amazon uk again…

    • My Amazon UK order came quickly via DHL once they actually shipped it

    • My 3800x from Amazon UK came in within a week. Impressed with DHL.

    • How have Amazon been when resolving the issue?

      • Well usual they contact dhl then dhl tells them some crap then they tell me that crap… so just went straight to dhl and they keep saying some agent will look for it and update me … and nothing .. they seem nice enough about it but my guess is they can’t find it loll

Never had issues with any amazon shipments and I’ve gotten a fair few things from amazon us via aus …

Anyway hopefully no one has any issues cuz it’s a lot of chasing up and bit frustrating… this week I’ll just ask for my money back just tired of it

        • In my experience, courier companies have always been awful to deal with.

Amazon have always been great at resolving issues on the rare occasion I had issues. I used to order from Amazon UK before Gerry and never had an issue.

          • @ihfree: Yep totally agree… I do use amazon a lot so had to have one go wrong I guess hehe

  • Hi Guys! If I don't care about Ray Tracing, should I buy this card or Radeon RX 5600 XT?

    • Whichever is cheaper

    • If going 5600 get a card with good cooling.

  • +2

    The purge begins…

  • ohh, how's this compare to an MSI Geforce RTX 2060 Super Ventus GP 8G
got one $500 from a mate next to new, not long ago.
think it was still a solid choice

    • Isn't this deal a non super? Unfamiliar with the KO.

      • Ah right,
So many variants these days have to read carefully sorry

      • KO editions are later released with few tweaks to compete against their direct competitors over the same range…
So a 2060 KO would have better performance over 2060…

I read reviews that KO cards (2069 KO and 2060 KO ultra) runs hotter and louder compared to other variants. This tipped the balance between me picking up this or a card with better cooling performance.

  • How does this compare with the Galax 2060 Super from this deal in terms of performance, noise and thermals? Looking for a 144Hz 1080p in Warzone and Fortnite etc

    • I got that deal, cheap but nice card for the price. Hate the white LED light.

This bargain is not a super not sure if you can compare really?

      • +1

Yeah, it seems the KO is about the same as a regular 2060 (for gaming at least) after looking into it a little bit. The 2060 Super seems to have about 20% better fps in the games I'm looking at.
Tempted to go for the Galax but it's hard to find many reviews of them. I don't think the white LED will be an issue. Why do you hate it? How are the temps and noise?

  • Could we make it as external video card?

    • Get pcie extenders then you can pop it outside the case

  • UK prices are so much cheaper than here

  • I like evga cards but I'd suggest anyone considering to Google their fan click issues. I had the 2080 xc ultra but sold it as couldn't stand the click and bought a msi 2080 gaming x trio instead which is very quiet. Evga best warranty though and cover you international/watercooling/buying secondhand if you have receipt.

WARNING! The NEW gfx cards that are coming are going to be awesome but they will not be cheap. What does this mean about buying a used or disscounted card now? Well you can buy a nice card thats good enough for the games we have now and you can AVOID the early adopters tax that nvidia/amd try to extract. The other problem is china as thats where these are made wont have supply at RRP anounced prices anyway, so getting a 2060/5600 or better card now for $350-600 will tie you over until the supply chain returns to normal in 2021…

  • The GPU on my desktop is dead. I"m deciding between these two . GPU.userbencharmark.com shows RTX 2060 a clear winner but there is $60 difference too. If I ask you to ignore the price which one would you suggest ? RTX 2060 or RX 5600 ?

    • +1

I would look up benchmarks for games that I might play and use that as a guide rather than userbenchmark.

The RX 5600 also comes with WoW shadowlands and Godfall by AMD rewards redemption. Depending on whether you play those, may increase the difference in value between both cards.

      • Honestly I'm not buying this for Gaming. I have played only couple of games call of duty series only. My current GPU is GTX 960 4GB. I use my desktop mainly for photos and video editing purposes.

  • Anyone know if this would be eligible free games that come with nvidia rtx cards? T&C talks about region specific restrictions without being specific
    https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/campaigns/rainbow-six-s…

    • well I asked this question on the Amazon listing and Amazon removed it. Seemed a reasonable question to me but probably outside some weird guideline.
Yet they allow 5 start reviews like "I havent actually used this yet but I like the colour" and responses to questions "I don't know, maybe read the manual!"

  • Good one - was just about to purchase the 1660! Thanks!

  • +1

Has the price changed on this? I'm seeing it as $506.22

    • +1

That's the price I'm seeing for the 'Ultra' version which is clocked slightly higher. This one is still at the same price ($451.66) but is now saying it will be dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

      • oh weird, the gaming one was showing as ~$600 but it's now displaying correctly, thanks :)

  • For anyone curious, I ordered on 15 August 2020 and the order is not yet marked as shipped.

I contacted Amazon this morning and was told it was "in the advanced shipping phase and will be sent within the next 24-48 hours". Approx a one week turn around from order to shipping.

So it seems Amazon UK currently has some delays actually getting things moving from the warehouse. This is contrary to what I have experienced with Amazon AU recently. I haven't ordered anything from Amazon US recently, but in the past it has been a quick turn around.

I guess we only have COVID to blame. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • I ordered on the 16th and mine is showing as shipped on the 20th with an ETA of 11 Sept. Make of that what you will!

      • aw, no fair, lol.

        • received yesterday, TU104 core from 2080 FWIW.

One of the fans was really noisy to start with and was about to return to Amazon but found it was clipping a small loop of wire under the fan which I managed to push out of the way so all is good now. If it gets noisy again I'll probably return it.

No game codes on offer in geforce experience;(

  • What's the warranty policy for stuff like this bought on Amazon UK?
