I bought two A500, 16G and 32G. the 32G is $309 from GG while the 16G is $386 from HN.

Not true. They do not care who bought it, as long as it leaves the country, and has at least $300 on one receipt. The ABN and company details must be on there as well. This is my experience, anyway. Have done this many times.
no the rules clearly state that the purchase must be made by you. so if some1 else pays for it and their name shows up on the receipt, kiss ur GST refund goodbye.

After reading your post, I called the GG where I ordered mine from (Carseldine) and was told that I needn't worry as they couldn't sell mine, since I've already paid for it. If anything, she almost made me feel a bit stupid for checking!

OW on clarence st in sydney called to say buy it before 1pm or else OW is going to drop their prices to $399, so got there and bought the 3g 32gb for $379.05 before 1pm, that was the 2nd last one left

got a harvey norman price match (beat by $1) while i was there to collect on their buy one get one free camera deal. price ended up being less than 50% of their ticketed price. whole thing took over half an hour while the girl (new on the job) ran back and forth to her manager to get the appropriate approvals, so didn't get to see the boss's face ;)

Just wondering, why not get the 16gb and add on a 32gb Sandisk microsd card for less than the price difference of $60?

Yup, just checked. On board is SSD.
You can use the built in storage for apps and games and put microsd for music, ebooks.. etc.
Most apps have to install to the built in memory.

Bought the 16gb 3g from GoodGuys Online - dont have time to muck about with Officeworks today and wanted to make sure I didn't miss out. 16Gb is more than enough, I run 8GB in the phone and not even close to filling it LOL.
Just got refunded by OW for one i bought 3 weeks ago and rebought the 32g a501 for the same price i got my a500 16gb.

Went to King Street Officeworks in Melbourne to find a little group of 3 XXXXX guys harrassing a nervous young store clerk about these. One guy bought the last three 16GB wifi models, and another got the last 32G model. When I asked meakly if I could perhaps buy one for myself, the ringleader told me excitedly that he planned to sell them all on ebay. He then told me that he had sent his cousin off to a couple of stores in the suburbs, assuring me that I wouldn't get any from Officeworks. He was a real life troll!
They were like vultures.. I walked out as they started hassling the clerk about the 3G versions.

They really should post 1-per customer rules when doing these run out super sales. Nothing worse than losing out to a Broden.
disagree. It's a bad idea.
I know it's tempting to make blanket rules to stop a few bad eggs from abusing the system but it's almost always lead to the suffering of the majority - the good eggs. Beside, those same bad eggs will finds another way - again.
It's much better to make rules to support the majority and add exceptions to deal with the bad eggs minority - discreetly.
Plenty of stores place limits of 1-2 items per a customer and the world doesn't stop spinning. It works well and gives other people an opportunity to grab a great priced item rather than the ebay scalpers buying up a dozen units at a time so they can rip you off later.
this is why ppl should just wait for a better deal rather then buying off ebay which encourage more of these shaddy activity.
would love a $99 HP but wouldnt have paid $300 on ebay.

Guys - will Viber or WhatsApp gonna work in my 16GB WiFi (no 3g) model?
As far as I know you need a phone number to get registered for Viber/WhatsApp…I can't use a phone number or use my simcard in my device
Can't you just get the SMS on your mobile?
you can use viber, just have it msg you the code to your actual phone.
Your viber number will be the same as your actual phone's number.
Not an ideal setup, but workable as far as receiving calls (2 devices same number). But making calls to other viber users will work perfectly.

Got an A500 32GB from Good Guys Rockingham for $290 ("pay less pay cash" - even though I paid with credit card). They had at least 20 boxes of Iconias left, not sure which exact models are in those boxes…

When I brought mine this morning Bayswater had heaps. They had 15 of the 32GB 3G model and a few of each of the others.

I just bought the A500 16 gb model for $200 from OW but it didnt come with a box, just the charger and usb cable. I dont know whether it was worth it or not….They said it was returned by a customer without its box. I still get 12 months warranty on it though. So it should be okay right??
