Just to be clear 2000A refers to the current draw limit, and mAH refers to the capacity at a given voltage (variable for this kind of device).

It can supply 2000A for about 11 seconds at 12V (required to jump start an engine) before the battery is drained.

Or it can supply 3A for about 4 hours and 52 minutes at 5V (USB Type-C charging @ 15W).

The capacity of this unit is 73 watt hours, which is 14,600 mAH at 5V or 6,000 mAH at 12V.

Thanks for information. Just want to clarify that figures in my post above are for 3.7V which is the default voltage of the battery cells used.
The most correct way to compare battery capacity would be Wh: Costco 37Wh vs 2000A 73Wh.

        • This sums it up best

  • I bought this - it works so well, and we used it so often, that we just got used to having a dodgy car battery.

    • I got used to jump starting the car every second day or so with one of these in the boot…even the wife learned how to do it. It was only when it started struggling to start every single time that I thought it time to get a new battery!

  • Can anyone who owns this attest to how well it holds its charge whilst not in use?

I expect by the time my car battery is flat I'll probably find this two will be flat. D:

    • I’ve got the 1200 version and it’s been sitting under the seat for 5 months. Checked it the other day and it’s still 100%.
Also, the 1200 version jump starts a 6L V8 just fine.

      • This is probably overkill for a 1.6L 4 cyl then.

  • Bookmark lolz 🤑🤪👍

  • Got one. Thanks OP

I've had one for a few months and its worked well starting tractors that are infrequently used and our ute which has a parasitic draw from a yet to be determined source.

Last time the battery wouldn't even open the locks but after a couple of minutes the 3 litre diesel turned over no probs on a 6 deg morning.

Should provide a bit of security on our (I hope) snow trip next year !

Its a pity the led torch is so weak given it has a massive battery to drive it;(

Can someone help me here. If it is not recommneded to have the battery charged and carried in the car, what is the point of having this thing in the first place. I mean, if you have this in the garage, the car battery dead 5km away in a shopping centre. how is this battery going to help?

    • +2

You can store it in the car, the battery is lithium like phones, tablets, or the gps sitting on peoples dash. Just keep it out of the sun and in the coolest place in the car.

      • wheres the coolest place in an suv?

        • The backseat. Who actually enjoys driving an SUV? lol

          • @Orico: Ummm gangsters… didn’t you watch the Sopranos?

            • @ccrap: I missed the whole Sopranos and X Files phase. Parents always told us to not watch killing even as adults lol.

  • This is great, I use of mostly for the 15VDC socket, which is a common supply voltage. Great for powering various small electronics directly.

    • Hey, can you recommend a good adapter to use for this purpose? What's the connector name for this?

      • It really depends on what you're trying to power - I just pick up appropriately size connectors from jaycar and some wire and make my own.

        • Can you believe they've jacked up the price of the official Gooloo adapter to $20? It's probably less than $4 worth of materials, was $9 when I bought one last year.

    • What's the size of the plug that goes into the 15V port? I want a Male-Male wire.

I have the cable at home but it's connected to a PSU.

      • Cant remember, I think its 2.5mm centre pin positive, but will confirm when im home. Its that or 2.1mm.

        • Someone said it's 2.5 mm x 2.1 mm. Sound right to you?

          • @Orico: Thats not a size so doesn't sound right. The pin diameter in the socket is the determining factor, common sizes are 2.1 or 2.5. The outside.diameter is the other measurement and I think is 5.5mm for both. There is also a length but that doeant really matter so much.

            • +1

@ratman: SHit sorry. I meant 5.5 x 2.1 mm. See my comment below.

              @ratman:

There is also a length but that doeant really matter so much.

That's only what sockets tell insecure plugs so their feelings don't get hurt.

          • @Orico: Bdl below said 5.5 x 2.1, which is the most common. Id go witht that.

  • I get charged $5.99 for delivery. Am I doing something wrong?

    Edit:
My bad. I had express delivery clicked…..

  • Bought it during the last sale and one week after it arrived used it! Damn it was easy to get the car going, barely reduced the charge as well. Must be able to last at least 4 or so jumps. Great buy!

  • Hi All,
I saw an ad on youtube that you could jump start the car from inside using this along with a specific cable via the cigarette lighter adapter.

Has anybody used this method? How does it work?

Also is this the right cable?

    Thanks

    • That ad shows a cable to charge the device FROM your car. Which you can just do with a USB charger, although will take ages. A QC one will charge it faster.

No, that cable will enable you to run 12v devices from the powerbank.

      source: I own one.

      • Gooloo used to advertise a cigarette lighter plug (not socket) attachment that connected to the 15V output port and would supposedly jump-start the car that way, instead of using the battery clamps.

Of course that's a load of bollocks, either the cigarette lighter fuse would blow instantly or the internal wiring loom would melt. Assuming your car was poorly designed enough to keep the accessories powered when the key is turned to start.

  • Thanks OP, got one. Peace of mind in the sticks.

  • Available again. No code required.

  • Won't let me use a PO Box address for delivery. Oh well.

    • I think they use courier due to lithium battery inside

  • -1

Fully charged LiPO battery stored in a hot car in AU in summertime.

    No thanks.

  • These are great. Makes me wish that I got flat batteries more often.

  • What's the port size for the 15 DC output? 5.5 x 2.5 or 5.5 x 2.1 mm?

    • x 2.1mm

  • I have the older model of the gooloo without USB C, has been great, started my Ranger 3.2TD several times over the years without issue.

  • The price is 149 and not 98
