iPhone XR.. funny enough I'm the type to change phones all the time, but I've had this phone for almost 2 years. Just can't find any use of having a bigger or smaller phone than this form factor.
iPhone X. I used to update once a year, but this phone has been fine and new iPhones haven't really changed. Will probably go for the 12 in a month or so though.
Mate 10 Pro.
Asus ROG 2
Moto X force. Also in the household: S10, S7 edge, Oppo
Samsung Galaxy S8+
Good enough for personal and work use.
I don't play games on it though.
Note 8 .. battery a bit poop now .. but that doesn't matter no-one can go 5k from the house !
I can.
Huawei P30 Pro
Best ever.
I have used Nokia x6, htc m7&8, Samsung Galaxy S6, S8, S9, S9+, then switched to Huawei Mate20pro, then current P30pro.
It is just amazing. I thought Galaxy S series were the best Android phones before using Huawei. Now I changed my mind.
I love a good camera and long running battery. Since switched to Huwei, I sold my power bank and my Nikon camera…
I can take photo of milky way with my huawei easily. Absolutely love it.
Still no issues yet with my phone.
Pretty sad that Trump is trying to stop it. Will see if it gets Google in the future, or HMS is good enough. Definitely gonna continue with it.
Got a Motorola G7 Plus. Absolutely love this phone! The clean OS, decent enough camera, nice speakers and big screen. Biggest downside is the battery life. The 3000mah battery just doesn't cut the mustard during a day at work.
Been using a Samsun S8, but looking at the price of newer models, i can no longer justify getting another one. Will see. This one will probably keep going for quite a while.
Note 10. Upgraded from a Note 8. Probably will give Note 20 a miss.
OP could have put more efforts on this list, right?
At least Google, Oneplus, and Huawei should be there, but it'd be easy to have a top 10 list including LG, Motorola…
Here: Huawei P20 Pro, likely moving to Pixel 5 if Google doesn't screw up with poor battery or nonsense price. I also think Samsung prices are no longer justifiable, but people do whatever they want with their money. One could say that buying a Chinese brand is no longer justifiable. It's good to have options anyway.
BTW, if rumours and leaks are correct, Pixel 5 is likely to disappoint many Android users. Unless the cheaper chipset reflects on the price, Google will miss the opportunity (again). Although I am a happy Huawei owner, I would like to avoid Chinese brands when selecting my next phone. The new Samsung phones are not appealing to me, and I don't think the prices are not justifiable. I miss HTC (apparently, not dead: https://www.androidauthority.com/htc-u20-5g-1129582/ )…

Diamond Crypto
Xiaomi Mi mix 3 5G great phone, even better phone considering the price paid. I probably won't use the 5G ever seems like a bit of gimmick right now.
Only complaints would be that Xiaomi stopped support for this phone. I have still been getting security updates and app updates just not an os update.
Headphone jack would be nice but the sound quality from this phone is great better than my old V20 it can run all my cans.
Camera is also good same sensor as pixel 4 and Xiaomi put a lot of work into the camera software on this phone. I get similar results from Gcam and stock camera app.
Had a S7 until just recently when I got a S20 Ultra from Samsung EPP
I'm still rocking my S7. Still going strong and very proud of how the screen is still almost perfect having never used any screen protectors.
TCL plex
Pixel 2XL here.
P20 Pro. It ticked most boxes when it came to upgrading - oled, camera, NFC. It's just missing wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, can't wait to go back to iOS
Not liking it?
I'm still using the humble One Plus 3T :)
Huawei Nova 3i, had it about 18 months and its been great.
Samsung S20 ultra. Just got it today. outgoing iphone xs max has to be returned to telstra due to it being a leased phone.
In the family/house its currently
- Pixel 3 - Suprisingly fast given that its 2 years old and all of the ram management issues that people complain about. Great haptics. Only issue is a relatively weak battery and dim screen. Used to have a mate 10 pro but I lost that one. Wasnt particularly special.
- Mate 20 pro. Again the camera isnt as good as it was hyped up to be.
- Iphone 8 plus. I find IOS to be pretty annoying.
- Some Oppo midranger. It does everything allright.
Realme 5 Pro. Great phone
Still rocking my Pixel 2 XL. Don't see a need to change it.
iPhone X, probably get the 12 pro max when it comes out.. If I have a job in October :-O
iPhone X. Hoping the new one is also curved.
s8+ here!
iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB A lovely phone. Doesn’t open a kernel, but I don’t need it to.
iPhone 8
if people here remember the deal 2 years ago, i got it on the $59/yr plan and got a $200 eftos voucher. Was a really good deal and still on it since I get optus sport on it included and saw no reason to change (dont need more data)
Samsung S7. A couple of years ago I lost my S7 and insurance paid out and I could have got an S9 but I much prefer the smaller size of S7, so got a new one from ebay and still happy with it!
Xiaomi with Android One and never looked back.
I purchased a Mi a3 only a month ago to find Xiaomi are abandoning Android One. Hopefully they'll support the handset and give the OTA upgrade to Android 11 next year.
iPhone 4s (No Joke). Been meaning to upgrade to a good Android phone but just haven't gotten around to it. Plus I hate the size of modern phones, they are all way too big. I wish they made good phones in smaller sizes.
the iphone 12 is rumoured to come in a variant with the size being between the iphone 5 and iphone 6. the perfect size imo. i'm rocking the se, will get the 12 day one if the rumours are true.
Here's a really small android phone … not sure if its "good" or not though.
Samsung galaxy s8 but will use my ulefone after finished waiting to get my ulefone armor 6e (still in transit from China)
s7 edge. Battery life is terrible so I'm considering trying a pixel for the first time as I am underwhelmed by the latest Galaxy phones. waiting for the Pixel 4a5G/ Pixel 5 news before deciding if the 4a is enough.
Pocofone F1 running pixel experience. Pretty happy with what I paid for it (around 320 AUD 18months ago), SD845 and fairly decent camera as soon as I put PE on it.
Xiaomi Mi 9T. Got it a few months back when it was $399 at JB, price matched at Officeworks for ~$379. Absoloute beast of a phone for the price, and I love the pop up camera (or more accurately, I love not having a notch or hole punch). The only downside initially was MIUI. I tried flashing Pixel Experience, but ran into some bugs. So I instead opted for Xiaomi.EU rom (which is basically a more refined version of MIUI with some extra bells and whistles), and I've actually grown to really enjoy it.
S9+ which has been repaired twice and the battery is pretty bad since the last software update. Never broken a phone until this one and will never buy a curved edge phone again. I don't care for phones and having the latest and greatest anymore. They are boring, overpriced stupid gadgets which all do the same thing and there is absolutely no need to spend the ridiculous amounts being asked these days.
The OzB classic, LGV30+
Google Pixel (First one) - Still going strong.
iPhone XS Max. Have used iPhones ever since the 3G model. I upgrade to the newly released model every 2 years.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
I bought this years ago but haven't had to change it. It's still fast and has a metal casing (got the gold one) so it's never been damaged nor has any cracks on it's screen; it can handle a beating. I even dropped it in the…er… water.. once… but works like normal after leaving it in a bag of rice! :P
Old iPhone 5/SE model from ozbargain deal couple years back think it was about 350 outright. People laugh when they see the size of it (thats what she said) but I hate large phones and im surprised I havent destroyed it yet on the job or on equipment im on almost every day. I only bought this one as the speaker on my last iPhone4 stopped working and I couldnt find another one so had to "upgrade".
Pixel 4
Pixel 2XL but about to change to a 3XL that I recently bought on eBay.
I recently got a S10 but didn't like it and went back to the 2XL. Gave the 10 to my wife
Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Best phone I have had.
Mate 20x, still the biggest screen on a phone sans flippy fold ones.
Samsung S7 still going strong. Battery life isn't great, needing a charge after lunchtime to get it through the day, but I'm a heavy user. I don't feel like I'm missing anything except a fancy camera compared to today's offerings.
iPhone XS Max for my main work phone, and a Pocophone F1 for fun.
I have to admit I've outgrown the tendency to keep buying/upgrading each year. It got expensive and just doesn't feel as worthwhile an upgrade each time as it once did.
OnePlus 5T. Have been using it for almost 3 years and should get one more year out of it.
S10 5G. Future proof phone!
Sorry, I've not logged into OZB in a long time :) But just had to comment here as I don't see single mention of my beloved ZTE Axon… Still rocks… no issues what so ever… And I have not found anything in comparison yet (read as cheap & stylish with great [and unique] features… Loving it still…
Galaxy s9+
Would consider the Pixel but micro sd slot is a must for me.
Was going to upgrade this year, but Samsung is still using the shitty exynos processor in Australia.
Will probably get the s21 next year, as long as the CPU/GPU are top tier and not worse than the American version
Asus Zenfone 5
Not ready to change as I love this one, just bought my parter one to replace her 7 year old (ish) Oppos. (she had two).
Didn't go with the 5z and the 6 is well out of our price range. It has also survived quite a beating and only took damage when I had the case off to replace the memery card.. Very unluckily of me.
What Is Your Current Smart Phone?
Only 1? I use the excuse of supporting both camps to have 2 phones….
Oppo A52.
Was a bit cautious about a phone this cheap, but it has everything I need and with great performance to boot.
Might upgrade in a few years time once support for it stops, but it's an absolute beast with an amazing battery life.
LG V30+. OLED screen, DAC, fast, battery lasts 8-10 hours. Love it. Ticks all the features I want in a phone and it was still affordable outright.
Coming up to 2 yrs with my huawei m20 pro! No issues with it
Last of the Sony Fanboys ;( Xperia XZ2 coming up to 2 years old and seems to be dying . Can't stand Samsung and all their bloated crap. Will probably go Oppo 5G next.
Me too Sony fan boy here. I had the Xperia Z, Z2 and Z5. After that I moved away as I felt it wasn't as good price to performance as other brands. Got a V20 which was crap compared to the Sony phones.
My main issue is the camera software just isn't that great I am sure Sony use good sensors but the software being lackluster takes away from the quality. Now I have a mi mix 3 5G and discovered Gcam I think it would work well on Sony phones.
The Xperia 1 MkII in Pro Mode has the camera interface out of the A7 camera range. Not sure about the actually chipset. If I can get it around 1K aussie I'll pull the pin i think.
Some photos I got from my K850 are better than photos from current phones, Miss the good old Xenon flash.
I'm using XZ Premium (Chrome).
I get compliments from random people all the time for the design, nothing compares.
The whole time using Sony phones I would get compliments!
OnePlus 7T. Voted Oppo
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro. Like my old Note 3, I enjoy having a phone that is relatively unique which has everything and more of other common, locally sourced phones which are three times the price. I also enjoy the puzzled expression on faces when I reply to the question, "What brand is it?"
Yota Yotaphone 3
Achew
'scuse me
S20 5g
iPhone 8 Plus
Just swapped from S8 to iphone SE
S10 Snapdragon
Still running my old Nexus 6P. Had replaced the battery, but I think its time to upgrade so I can get a later version of Android. Probably going for the Pixel 4a.
s10e
iphone 6s.
Past issues with Samsung not wanting to honour warranties for repair of their products have completely put me off.
I liked my old school Nokias.
My current phone's is neither of these and rather meh - it does what I need although the camera could be better. I didn't want to pay flagship prices.
I have a xaiomi A3 I have a bad track record when it comes to phones they only usually last a couple of months so I'd never spend more than $300 on a phone
iPhone 6. Its been my trusty servant for many years but is on its last legs.
iPhone Se (4”) Series 1
Galaxy A8 2018 from work
