What Do You Love about Apple Products?

I used my first Apple product in 2007 and since then I have tried couple of times to adapt Android and Windows but always fails my latest attempt was with Google Pixel 4 but to be honest!

Safari, iMessages, AirDrops, AirPods and no lags as well as It Just Works thingy is hard to defy.

I have Pixel 4 sitting in my drawer since last one month, I used to on weekends but it doesn’t appeal me.

Feel free to share your love and hate for Apple.

Here we go again, someone just trying to stir dissent.

Feel free to share your love and hate for Apple.

This is covered a hundred times a month so whats the point.

      • +18

Why does it even matter? If you like it you like it.

How much would you theoretically sell the pixel 4 for?

      • +38

Really? You have been here 3 years and havent read every Iphone/Mac deal where someone tells us ad nauseum how Apple is a ripoff, and you can get x feature on Android/Windows for x% less. "Apple Tax" "FanBois" and so on.

Dont be lazy, I'm not going to post every "link" for you.

        Brendanm says it all

Why does it even matter? If you like it you like it.

Much Thanks I got some points.

        • -1

My favourite is the complete lack of self awareness of these dweebs who post the same tired talking points, as if they’re not fanboi’s either. Very rarely do you see “Apple sheep” wasting their time arguing against Windows machines or Android deals. They love to talk Apple more then Apple fans.

          • +1

@Randolph Duke: Hmmm weirdly true. If someone is on the fence the most I talk about is build quality and stability. If those things matter to you then the choice is clear if you have the money. Otherwise go windows.

            • +1

@Icecold5000: Yup. I’ve got no issues with Windows or Android, would and do happily recommend products running both.

            • @Icecold5000:

If someone is on the fence the most I talk about is build quality and stability.

Windows is a mixed bag, too many variants so the normal consumer level desktops/laptops is what you see in Jbhifi, which gives Windows a bad name.

Build quality is stellar in business grade windows laptops, but also comes at a cost (still cheaper than Apple offerings lol)

  • +4

    *grabs popcorn*

  • +2

I love the cheap prices :)
Besides that best security in the industry .
One day they need to get competitive with Samsung on the camera front .

  • +7

Do you have room for people or does your love for Apple products get in the way?

    • -1

      Not always.

  • +17

    crApple
    .

    • Haha nice one.

    • Councillor Apple? Are they related to Tim Apple?

  • +48

What do you love about Apple products?

    Nothing.

    • +17

Is that because it doesn't have MS Paint?

      • +1

100%, means you can't post car accident or car insurance threads.

  • +21

What do you love about Apple products?

The fact that they are so insecure about their products that they keep trying to convince themselves they are better than others.

They are no better, nor worse, just different.

    • -7

      I don't agree.

      What I like about Apple, is despite the challenges they are able to compete in many markets. And in some instances they are able to dominate, in most they are competitive, and in some they may not be competitive but their participation is commendable. For instance;
      Custom CPU
      Custom GPU
      Custom Antennas
      Financials
      External hardware construction
      Material sourcing
      Design aesthetics
      Tactile Engine
      Earphones
      Watches
      Tablets
      Laptops
      All-in-ones
      Desktops
      TV Boxes
…and that's just the externalities and hardware!

Now let's look into the software:
      The complete OS (twice!)
      GPU API
      Online ecosystem
      Cloud storage
      Wireless sharing
      AI Assistant
      Web browser
      Messaging
      Email
      Office suite
      Game services
      Video rentals
      Music streaming
      etc etc.

…very few companies are able to accomplish a fraction of what they can do. And even in that case, they are not able to execute to the same calibre. Where MS is competing with Apple, well, Apple is competing with Apple. They have an Infinite Game, or Growth Mindset outlook in the industry. And that is why they've been quick to adopt new technologies, and innovate more times in the tech industry than their peers.

      • +37

What? Apple buy's tech and packages it (OEM).

Their CPU's are ARM. They bought a company that specialised in hardware implementation to stop Samsung (who was also a client) using them.
        Their GPU is licenced.
Custom antennas is not something to brag about. Before Intel dropped their modem business they were designing software configurable radios which was an advancement, 10 years ago. Antenna gate???
        Everyone uses Foxcon, Pegatron.
Material sourcing is done by the factories.
Tactile engine? You mean a speakers with out a cone?

OS X is a Linux derivative. Yes, there is a massive amount of work there, but nowhere on the level of Microsoft.
Apple's online ecosystem is old. It is still heavily criticised.
Their cloud storage led to the fappening….
Their AI assistant was amazing when first released however it quickly fell behind.
I did not know anyone used safari…
I have never heard great things about their email service (mail?)
There is a reason we all use Office
They have an amazing phone gaming ecosystem, but they are blocking advances like cloud gaming as they want a percentage of the revenue stream. PC gaming is called PC gaming for a reason.
        Netflix
They were late to music streaming, pushing individual purchases and only changed after significant movement to spotify.

Apple do great work. They regularly innovate in packaging and feature sets, but after release they tend to let tech stagnate and only update after their competition has copied and improved Apple's original idea.

        • +6

          I love this guy

        • +2

but nowhere on the level of Microsoft.

          Oh boy…

          • -1

@smartazz104: Do you honestly think Apple's move to ARM will be much more than Copy, Paste and Test functionality missing from iOS from github?

        • +10

macOS has nothing to do with Linux, Unix, yes. Linux is a kernel. OS X doesn’t even ship with GNU tooling, they use BSD programs. Darwin, which is the foundation of macOS/iOS/etc. has a fundamentally different kernel. e.g. Linux is a monolith and Darwin used a hybrid kernel.

Tbh, sounds like you’re just reaching for some reason.

          • +5

@no not me: I am clearly not an expert in this field.

Thanks for the info, I had a fundamental lack of knowledge in this area.

          • +1

            @no not me:

Tbh, sounds like you’re just reaching for some reason.

An Apple hater is reaching? I'll be damned, never sen that before!

            • @ThithLord: What makes you think I hate Apple?

They have hundreds, if not thousands, of very talented employees. They are often innovators. They market like nobody else. They push tech forward. At release, many of their products are very reasonably priced.

The only thing that I hate about Apple is their purchase of Intrinsity, as Samsung was a client too and should have been lock step with Apple. Instead we have one company with mobile CPU's 3-4 years ahead of the competition in machines that really don't need them.

        • +2

Like there are so many holes in "this guy" argument that I dont even feel like replying.

        • +3

Look at this ignorant post with all the upvotes. I cringed reading your post dude. And I cringed harder when I saw so many people upvote it. Those poorly educated on a subject often are the most outspoken. Case in point.

          • +1

            @FatBlanket: Aren't you a puddle of positivity!!!!

Why move a conversation forward when you can complain!!!

I was wrong on macOS. I misunderstood the difference between Unix and Linux when I learnt the origin of OSX.

Teach me, oh cynical one! Show me the macbook backlight, not from bleed but though the retina display!!! Let me walk in the footsteps of the holy trinity, the macbook, the iPhone and the iWatch! Make me one with the iCloud so I can be whole!!!

Or just tell me where I am wrong so I can read and learn.

        • Apple design their own SoCs. They also decimate Android SoCs in performance. I don't use any Apple products but you have to recognise their hardware superiority.

      • +1

Not to forget, excellent camera 👍🏼

      • +1

        and innovate more times

Apple are not the best innovators, they are the best marketers.

They are effectively the Toyota of the Smartphone world, bland, inoffensive, so basic even a penisoner can use one, all in a Lexus suit.

    • +3

The fact that they are so insecure about their products that they keep trying to convince themselves they are better than others.

Weird, this can be applied to those non-Apple product users who feel they need to post in every Apple-related deal about how a competitor's product is better, like someone actually asked them for their irrelevant opinion. Plenty of people here seem to be unpaid reps for other companies, or just love to jump in the Apple-bashing bandwagon like their opinion is worth something.

      • +2

like their opinion is worth something.

No more and no less than your opinion is worth. :)

        • I'll be sure to consider that next time someone posts an Android-related deal and I decide to go in there and, oh wait…

  • Whilst I never had their products, breadth of options and competition is good for everyone.

    • +2

Not as easy to fix as Windows based PC's. I actually replaced a HDD with an SSD in a Mac the other week, was most impressed with myself…and I've been playing with PC's since the late 70's.

  • +5

My first Android was an S3 after 3 various iPhones. I remember the first time I started using it I thought it was the worst. But I was stuck with an expensive toy. The power button on the side rather than at the top was a killer to get used to. A few days later it was normal and remains so. Now I look at my partner's iPhone and wonder how she can tolerate one button rather than 3.

  • As a past iphone user, airdrop feature and good hardware are the plus points!

    • Try snapdrop. Same thing by for every device.
      .

  • +22

I love Apple products because of its taste. Especially apple juice they’re the best!

  • +3

I owned an IPhone 4, stopped getting updates and device was slowed down. Android is much cheaper, newest redmi 9 is 10th the price of new apple phone.

    • +4

I don't think a Redmi is really the same thing as an iPhone.

      • +3

both are from same womb….i mean factory

    • +2

Maybe you should have tried getting an iPhone made this decade? And the xiaomi is 1/3 the cost of an iPhone SE, which in 2 years will still be probably worth half what you paid. The xiaomi, not so much.

      • +8

And the xiaomi is 1/3 the cost of an iPhone SE, which in 2 years will still be probably worth half what you paid

The value is in the eyes of the beholder.
Unless you have locked in and intend to resell a 2020 iPhone SE in 2022, resell value should really not be a consideration for "I can afford a phone".

When I get a phone, it's "Til death do us part", not "how much can I sell you for after two years"

        • +6

          Iphone SE
          Today value: $749
Half price in three years: $325
          Loss: $325

          Redmi 9:
          Today Value: $189
          Price in 3 years: $60
          Loss: $129

          @Burnertoasty
The It has good resale thing doesn't really seem logical

          • +2

            @cheapjack: Half of 749 is 374.5

Enjoying a good phone for two years.. priceless.

            • +2

              @derk:

Enjoying a good phone for two years.. priceless.

Not really exclusive to either Android or iOS. Just depends on the device you choose and its capabilities.

Unless you have a signed contract or an actual intention to sell in 2 years time at an agreed price, resale value or salvage value should not be taken into account when buying a phone and saying you can afford it because of that, that's more of a "I'm justifying my choice of phone because people around me say that it's got good resale value"

  • +2

    Exclusivity 😷

  • +8

    Absolutely Nothing

  • +1

Aesthetics, I like the design of their products and how iOS etc looks.

    • +2

Whenever I upgrade an iPhone I feel kind of a loss for the weight and feel of the old one in my hand. It's like breaking up with someone and you're in bed and you turn to go tell them something, but there's someone else there instead. The new one might be younger and better looking, but you still miss the old one after getting so familiar.

  • +2

The resale alone makes economic sense. I ended up bing cash positive after trading my old MacBook Air for my MacBook Pro and taking tax back and resale into account. You can’t knock free hardware. I use both iOS, Android, PC and OSX devices. I like them all for their merits, but if I was to choose one ecosystem, Apple gets it every time.

  • +11

Their walled gardens, fanboys, and censored forums

    • Apple support is amazing even when your device is 22 years out of warranty. I found my iMac from 1998 and just for fun called Apple to see if they could fix it. I was amazed to see that the serial number was still in their database and after running some diagnostic step we determined that the HDD was toast. Managed to find a spare IDE HDD and reinstalled macOS 8.

  • Apple makes the most user friendly iPads. This is after owning 4 iPad and 5 androids. Their iPhones on the other hand is way too expensive for the specs.

Btw how much for the pixel 4?

    • +2

"Apple makes the most user friendly iPads."

Apple are the only ones that makes iPads.

  • +2

Honest answer. The Apple Watch has a lot of features and just works. I’m very glad I picked up one of these. You have to have an Apple phone, with the latest IOS to go with it so I got an iPhone XS at a decent price. Apart from a Camera this is, mainly, a hot spot for my watch and iPad. It is, also, an app runner for my watch.

The iPads are terrific and my main “device” that I use. It is my communicator, my games machine, reading the newspaper, browser, etc.

However, if I want compute power I go for a Windows PC. I’m a duckling and I just know how they work. I can’t be stuffed moving across to an Apple PC and think they are a tad overpriced.

It’s horses for courses but Apple does some things well and other things not so well. I pick and choose what suits me.

  • +3

My kids can buy apps on their phones and i can approve them on mine…it just works without fuss

  • These are from my experiences after using both macOS and Windows on a daily basis.

    For Apple:
Well optimised and speedy operating system, fewer crashes, long battery life, long term software support and design. Airdrop is also another critical feature missing on Android and Windows. Security and Privacy are also Apple's strong points.

    For Windows:
Great for creating applications on multiple platforms, Better suited for business deployment. The only downside is the frequent crashes which give my clients a heart attack after working on a project for hours. But I have autosave so not much of an issue.

  • Status Icon.

May be weird but every other phone brand that i bought for my wife, always caused grief for her but since past 5 years she is happy with iPhone (then 6s and now 11 pro). I am still using 2013 Macbook Air and never had issues till date.

  • I don't love Apple, but I like my MacBook Pro and its long battery life. And that's it. I am a happy Android (smartphone) and Windows (PC) user. It's about taste and people getting used to stuff. I think MacBook Pro is beautiful and well built, but I also think Apple Watch is ugly and would not buy one. I have been considering installing Windows on my MacBook Pro but haven't done that yet.

iWatch porn on my apple products

    iLike that

apple ecosystem works really well among their products.
they are stable and just work.
2nd hand market is very good.
apple support and after sales is best i’ve experienced so far for any product.

  • What I love about Apple products is my friend's asking me to fix something involve an apple product but having to figure out what they've renamed it too. Then I have to find out where they've hidden how to fix and then finding out it actually can't be changed or you have to take it to the Apple cult compound, I mean Apple store because it's being blocked off from the user.

Ever being less than 100% enthused by a new Apple product and said so on a friend's Facebook page who happens to have a friend who works at an Apple store?

You can look forward to a lot of msgs

  • +2

I believe people when they talk about the Apple tax. But on the other hand, the resale on Apple hardware is excellent. Like you can get 20-30% back on 6-8 year old hardware. I feel like I get my Apple tax back :)

  • +3

Well speak of the devil "APPLE"
They are not allowing Microsofts new Cloudgaming app to be published on itunes store. Because they dont want competition for there own gaming service.
Anti consumer but what else is new with Apple?
You don't get freedom with Apple. all must be done through Apples own ecosystem

    • Microsoft had every opportunity to develop their own ecosystem back in the 1990-2000 when they had a monopoly.

  • +17

Someone I know was in another country on business.

He was also playing up on his missus who was home in Australia looking after the kids.

The entirety of the iMessage conversations that he was having with his new found overseas love interest were being viewed by his wife on the family iPad back home.

He doesn't like Apple products anymore.

    • Just as well it was the wife and not the kids.

    • +1

Not understanding how messages works sound like the least of his problems.

  • 🤦‍♂️

    Pricey and very childlike?

  • It just for different people, no point fighting over which is better. Just the one that bring you happiness ….

    Everyone have their preferences.

Personally, I would not switch fully to apple eco system but wouldn't mind having device as secondary.
