          • @sena86: Did the rep indicate which shipment your order might be part of?

            • @theartofthedeal: As mentioned in my previous post, she is attempting to find out, but I'm honestly not expecting a response.

      • Thanks for the info, doesn't seem like a huge number compared to the frenzy of buying that's been happening. Hopefully we'll be in the bigger August shipment anyway. Fingers crossed.

    • there will be either alot of cancelled orders or people getting their monitors towards the end of the year!

  • -2

found this before guys, hopefully prices aren't just being constantly dropped :(

    https://www.dell.com/koa/search?q=s2721dg#q=s2721dg&t=defaul…

    • thats the US site and price is in USD; monitor listing has been removed from Australian site already

    • +1

      USD, mate.

    • +1

      LOL

    • its for the folks at USBargain :D

  • +2

hmmm… Seems like anyone paying with paypal sunday after are still in pending which means your order isnt confirmed for stock but just confirmed. well that sucks for me i guess.

    • +1

I ordered around midday on Sunday with PayPal and can see 'Status: Confirmed - In Production' on my order.

Estimated delivery still says the 6th August and the packing slip says it will ship today, but that is looking increasingly unlikely.

      • Same thing on my end.

        • same as me

    • Is it pending in your PayPal statement, or pending on the Dell website?

    • Shouldn't card payments be similar to paypal where the initial payment is an authorization which eventually goes through when the store processes it?

      • Correct mine is paypal pending and credit card charged.

        It means nothing

    • So basically people that ordered first via Paypal are considered a second priority and people that paid via CC will get first priority even if orders were made after the pay pal orders? I'd assume it would work off a first in first serve system, but I could be wrong. I placed my order via pay-pal on Sunday 2am.. via Paypal and my current status is still sitting under confirmed in production.. If only I knew CC was a preferred payment method.

      • +1

I doubt it - both paypal and cc payments are seeing the same status and eta time. I think paypal simply holds the money until dell has shipped it.

        • When did you place your order and what payment method did you use?

        • No, it is not PayPal holding the money until Dell has shipped it. It was Dell intentionally set it up as a pre-auth. Merchants can do that. It's good for the buyer in a way (since you are technically not charged yet), and bad in another way. It is somewhat better for Dell, in case there is a mass cancellation coming. PayPal really dislikes chargebacks.

If you used PayPal with a credit card backed payment, you should be able to see the pre-auth in your bank account (assuming your bank gives you the details). Dell will most likely charge you in the next few days even if Dell is not ready to dispatch your order due to stock issue.

    • +1

I don't understand why you would think CC orders would get processed faster. This is not one of those feeBay deals. Also, even with CC payment, unless the payment is cleared, it could also be a pre-auth.

It seems that, unlike Amazon, where they would only charge you at the time of order fulfilment, Dell will proceed with charging within 10 days of purchase (even if they don't have the item in stock).

One OZBer mentioned people bought some on 1/8. You would expect Dell to give those orders priority.

      • Thanks @netsurfer, but I find it odd how they would allow pre-auth on electronic sales, it's mainly popular for hotels/accommodation.

        • +1

It's the same idea, just pre-allocate some money on your CC or PP funds, in case you are in a shopping spree and used up all your allowed credit.

That's why better than pre-auth for direct debit via PayPal. Mate recently had his Kogan account hacked and he didn't even realise Kogan did a dodgy and tricked him into allowing direct debit via PayPal. The hacker then did some dodgy stuff.

I get why people still want to hope that they will get their orders fulfilled this week and what they are seeing for the order estimate is accurate. Honestly, if you have purchased from Dell before, for items they have stock to fulfil, Dell shouldn't be this slow. I know it is upsetting the orders are still essentially are in pending, but the deal got OZB'ed, this is to be expected. Covid-19 is making the situation worse.

  • I'm glad I paid via credit card and not paypal, still says arriving 06/08 but no update on the tracking yet.

    • +2

I don't think card/paypal makes a difference as long as it successfully made the 'authorization' payment. Mines says it arrives 06/08 as well.

    • same here, not holding much hope of getting it before Sep/Oct

  • If I go to the order then click "packing slip" it shows the shipping date is today 4/08/2020. The order still says processing though. Anyone else see the same?

    • +1

I think we just need to wait for the shipments to be allocated to our orders for the eta to be updated.

    • Yep mine is the same. I haven't checked the packing slip before, so I don't know if the date is just changing day-to-day and tomorrow will just say Shipping date 5th Aug …

    • Tomorrow will say 05/08/2020

    • 6.15pm I doubt mine is getting shipped today!

    • Yeah I ordered on 02/08 via CC, got my confirmation email at 1315, packing slip says shipping date 04/08, arrival date 06/08, but I just spoke to a Dell rep who said it hasn't left yet, and she would check with "the logistics team" and confirm via email when it would arrive.

  • +1

Ordered Sunday evening, shipping date was listed as today with an arrival date on the 6th. Order is now not showing up on my recent orders tab. I can see my purchase details from the view purchase button in my email confirmation, but trying to view my packing slip from that page now tells me to "enter a valid order number". Haven't received an email about order cancellation, but not looking good.

Paid with credit card using both discount codes.

    • +4

Check that you aren't on the US support site when trying to check your order, and clear the cookies if you are. Should make the order show up again

      • this is correct - mine did the same thing as it switched from AU to USA

      • +1

        Cookies did it, good call!

    • careful as the system logs you out often, you are probably looking at the logged out screen.
go back to dell.com.au , log in again, click my account
then you will probably see your order

  • I bought it last Sunday with cash rewards. And, I noticed that the cash back is $29.16 on the app today. I'm so satisfied.

  • +22

Got mine today. Looks pretty similar to my 27GL850. Side by side the bezels and res are exactly the same. Also the monitor has a blue LED at the back that glows. The Dell monitor can also be set to 165Hz. Haven't tested too much in any fps games but it looks great in general.

    • +11

Nice one, I expect a full review on Youtube within a couple hours ;-)

    • oof exciting can't wait to receive mine

    • Can you let us know if you can change the colour of the LED? I think I read somewhere that it's RGB.

      • +1

Reports online say it's either on (blue) or off

      • +1

You can turn it off in the monitor settings. I can't find any option to change the colour.

        • Ok thanks, I also have the LG and would rather a red colour like the LG has, but at least it can be turned off.

    • Which city are you in?

    • What are the profiles like, Does it include things like crosshair like the 27GL850?

      • +1

Has some preset modes, you can change response time (goes from fast > super fast > extreme), dark stabilizer, brightness/contrast. I couldn't change the hue and saturation but I'm not sure if thats because of presets. No crosshair option from what I can see.

        • Ah dam spewing whats your opinions of this vs your LG27 im still tempted to buy a lg27850 but couldnt pass up the cheap price of the dell

          Edit: thanks for replying mate

          • +3

@Vialz: Side by side from my first impressions both look great to be honest. But then again, I'm no monitor guru. Im using this as a second monitor with the LG one being my primary one. I did some light gaming before and I couldn't tell the difference between either. Looked smooth, no smearing when running in Modern Warfare. I'd say its fantastic value for money.

            • @Notoriousbird: Would think that response time of 'super fast' would be ideal as 'extreme' would lead to a lot of overshoot (like in other 1ms panels)?

              • +1

@gentlekoala5906: Yeah, I don't think extreme would be optimal. Fast for me is fine, but haven't tested super fast at all.

  • +4

Who ever got bumped up the list because I cancelled my first order to reorder the second one please hold me xoxo

    • A bird in the hand…

  • paid with cc using both codes, ETA was and still is the 11/8 (Status: Confirmed - In Production)
    :(

    • Exact same situation here. :/

  • +1

    Ordered on Saturday 01/08.
Received order acknowledgement email @ 2:56PM
Received order confirmation email @ 3:03PM

Paid using Paypal which still remains as "pending authorization"

Used 15% coupon, did not use 5% coupon.
    Cashrewards is pending for $29.16.

Since then my order has been..

    Status: Confirmed In Production
    Arrives by: 6/08/2020
    Shipping Date 4/08/2020 (Packing Slip)

    Definitely not shipping out today.
Based on comments, I don't have high hopes of receiving it by 6th either.

    • +1

Ordered almost at exactly the same time also with Paypal. In exactly the same boat :/

  • Let the long wait begin! I wonder if any better deals will pop up between now and then! They might end up with a lot of cancelled orders then and too much stock! :)

  • +1

Bought Sunday evening using PayPal. In production now and ETA 6/8 which I doubt will happen. Cash rewards declined.

    • -4

No need to doubt, it won't happen. Consider yourself lucky if yours is fulfilled soon after 28/8, delivered before end of this month.

  • +8

I get people want their monitors a.s.a.p. However, this deal's been OZB'ed. Also, if you purchased Dell items before, you would know it is unrealistic to expect delivery this week if your order has not progressed to shipped.

With the current situation (Covid-19), there is a huge load of parcels and less flights. Seriously, if you ordered after last Sunday noon, you need to be realistic about it. Dell Australia simply don't have enough stock at the moment. They are not able to source enough to fulfil every order by the end of August. We also know some people bought multiple of these.

Neg me like crazy if you like, but you won't get your monitors sooner. Lastly, I hope I am wrong, but my understanding is those pre-auth transactions will be charged in the next few days. It's not like Amazon where if they charged your card, the item is in stock and they are preparing shipment.

    • +6

I agree bud, its a good idea to maintain reasonable expectations; I know alot of people and myself included are having order anxiety; so any shred of information that gets posted here ends up being speculated on over and over, so its good to take a moment and step back from the FOMO.

    • +10

Realistically, if one's order hasn't been shipped out yet, it's going to be a couple of weeks at minimum before the next batch arrives into Australia and starts getting sent out. We're all in for the same wait.

Based on the information that's coming out giving very strong credibility to the idea that this monitor is using a slightly updated model of LG's 27" 1440p Nano IPS panel as seen in the LG 27GL850 - a $750 RRP (more like $800 at the moment) monitor that has been as low as $640 at its cheapest, a price that hasn't been seen in about 10 months - and the fact that we're seeing orders fulfilled rather than cancelled, getting this for either the $535 of the originally posted deal (plus cashback), or this $508 (sans cashback due to ECU5) is a damn good price for a display of this class.

Patience is going to be a virtue on this one, I think. I ordered late in the afternoon on Sunday after seeing this post, so I'm fully expecting to be waiting until October to receive mine. I can fully understand people getting a bit antsy about their orders though, $500-odd isn't a small lump of change for most people and there might be some concerns about the ECU5 code being meant for Edith Cowan University students only. For anyone who is feeling any anxiety about this one, take a deep breath and consider that you'll either be refunded your money, in which case, no harm done (assuming you don't need it urgently) or you'll end up with a $700/$800-class display for a helluva lot less than that - it'll just take some time.

  • Ordered One on Sunday night… didn't receive any confirmation by Tuesday am,

so called up Dell.. who said the transaction was on hold at paypal.. and failed to proceed.

So reordered a pair instead at the same prices and paid via credit card..

This evening, getting the confirm for the original monitor…

and looks like the paperwork will be proceeding for the additional pair..

ETA for the first screen is the 20/10/2020…

Probably going to be christmas for the other pair!!!

  • +11

The delay is annoying but there's something quite fun about Ozbargaining Dell.

For those that are worried about another Dell panel lottery (like back in the mid 2000s) with future stock potentially using other panels to meet demand:

    https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/dell_panel_lottery.htm

    • Are there other panels that meet these specs? These aren't exactly low end panels they can source elsewhere (1440p, 1ms, 165Hz, IPS).

      • I just wouldn’t entirely trust them to change panels to inferior ones that don’t really meet the specs but most people wouldn’t know the difference.

        • Have DELL been known to do this?

I would assume as this is not a standard panel (e.g. 60hz res VA/TN) options for replacement would be limited.

          • @SkeletoR22: Yes, I linked to it above.

            • +1

@cnut: Yes - but that article is about 15 years old.

It would be like comparing Hyundai then to today, no comparison.

I cannot see them risking the wrath of keyboard warrior tech nerds to save some coin.

    • +2

that panel lottery, showed that they advertised a lower spec monitor, but started putting higher spec panels in, the lottery was people trying to get higher specced panels
Noone will mind if they put a higher spec panel in.
They would not put a lower spec in if they advertised at a higher spec, thats just asking for trouble…

      • Highly doubt they’d do it, but I don’t trust them. They also advertise their U series panels as 16.8m colours, but many are in fact only 6 bit with dithering (frame rate control).

I can see the dithering on my “ultrasharp” Dell screens and it shits me.

  • I ordered about 21:45 Saturday.
Soon had a confirmation that delivery would be by 11 Aug.
No updates since then. Order status is Confirmed in production.

    • Hmm, I ordered around 1pm on Sunday, and my packing slip says "shipping date" 04/08 and "arrival date" 06/08, but the status says "confirmed - in production" so who knows.

      • I ordered mine 8.30am on Sunday and packing slip says the same - shipping date 04/8 arrival date 06/08 - I don't think it's gonna happen!

    • I ordered 02/08/2020 (Sunday) afternoon. Order was confirmed basically immediately with an arrival date of 11/08/2020 similar to yours.

I'm pretty doubtful we'll get ours then, but being in the august orders would be nice! (again i doubt i'll be in the august shipments).

  • I ordered on Sunday around 21:56.
Recieved my confirmation email within 15 min post ordering.
Confirmation email had ETA 06 Aug.
    Status confirmation: Confirmed in production.

  • Has anyone who used the ECU5 code had theirs shipped yet? I hope this extra code isn't going to screw us all over… I would have happily paid the 15% off only coupon.

    • +1

The code was discovered fairly late. So by the time people used it, stock would have been low. So I reckon most people that will get their monitor will be in the first batch.

In saying that, a few have stated that they got payment confirmation even with using the code. Others got emails asking for proof of their business/student email.

      • Just saying I ordered on 02/08 with both codes so 507 and paid with visa and my payment went through almost instantly. They haven't asked for any further details but it is still at the confirmed stage expected on the 6th so should be interesting.

  • When I go to My Orders it doesn't actually show up.

    • +1

Make sure it is Au site

      • Ok I had to add a missing order number.

It just takes me to the Purchase Details page from the email.

All good. Still in production for me (ordered Sunday arvo).

  • did anyone get a screenshot of the discounted price?
Dell are asking me for a screenshot of the price with both coupons even though I sent them the email asking to have my order cancelled on Sunday 2nd while both coupons were still active.
edit: cancelled so that I could reorder using both coupons

    • +2

With cash rewards, you’ll get it for the same price without the ECU code.

      • I thought cashback didn't work with unlisted coupons?

Either way, too late for that.
