First post!

Been keeping an eye out for the LG27GL850 but prices have been sky high since the last $699 on Amazon. I saw the S2721DGF paper release last month and was interested. Saw the Coupon code and it took it down from $629 to $534.66. The panels are supposedly the same as the LG27GL850 but you'll have to put up with the Dell aesthetic. Dell also seems to have excellent warranty service so that's a plus. It seems to be an great buy for creatives as well since it covers 98% DCI-P3.

    Specs look good to me!

  • Check if EPP5 stacks for extra 5% off

    • +1

      I tried and it doesn't :(

      • Are you sure? I added the EPP5 code on top last night and it brought the price down to $507.93. Proof

I bought the thing on the spot.

Pretty sure cashback doesn't apply to coupon codes not advertised on their website(s). Correct me if I'm wrong

        • coupon expired

@sushimaster: Damn, I got lucky then. I bought mine ~2.40 am AEST, just over 12 hours ago

            • @Fire Chicken: I was staring at my cart at 2am about to pull the trigger…
Massive fomo now -.- hopefully cashrewards goes through

            • +2

              @Fire Chicken: shouldve posted :')

              • +1

@sushimaster: Haha, I actually did think about posting, had the listing all ready to hit submit at 3am, but I still looked at the $507.93 price and said to myself, "That can't be right, it's way too cheap for a 27" 1440p 165 Hz IPS panel that's the same panel as the LG 27GL850. Maybe I'll wait until it actually ships first before I post before I call it a legit deal."

      • Hi @fire chicken, do you mind emailing me a copy of your invoice? I’d like to show them to see if they can price. Thanks in advance

Ordered mine yesterday! Dell aesthetics is probably the best. Doesn't look like a bloody transformer!

    • Haha, I was going to say the same. I also trust Dell's warranty.

  • This or the Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD for around $400-440? Feel tempted to pull the trigger…

    • +3

3-Years Advanced Exchange Service and Premium Panel Guarantee for dell

      • +7

Yeah I was gonna say, VX2758-2KP-MHD seems to be about $450-$500 and for the little bit extra I would go with the dell for quality and warranty. Best in class when it comes to after sale service.

        • So disappointed that my viewsonic monitor got a stuck pixel about 2 months after purchasing. Viewsonic refused to help. Will never purchase from them again and I don't recommend them to anyone

          • @FireRunner: Most brands are like that unfortunately. From memory acer, viewsonic, samsung and asus all have similar pixel policies past 1 month.

    • +1

I have the ViewSonic and I love it, however for whatever reason it won't achieve 1440p@120hz with the Xbox One X. Now this obviously isn't an issue now as hardly anything utilizes that res/refresh rate on the One X, but my concern was that it won't hit that on the Series X later this year either. ViewSonic were great trying many different things to get it working but in the end offered me a RMA #. Was going to buy a BENQ or LG-GL850 but now pulling the trigger on the Dell.

Obviously this is very much only a specific issue for the ViewSonic, and not even really an issue, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

      • Just on this, I initially wasn't able to get 144hz but it turns out only one of the hdmi ports were capable of doing it so if you do have a second port, I recommend trying it. All the best!

        • Hey mate, appreciate the reply. Definitely tried this amongst a ridiculous amount of combination of settings cables etc, 1440p@120/144hz works perfectly on PC with the ViewSonic just somewhere the Xbox One X and ViewSonic do not like one another

    • Just ordered the monitor - think it's worth the price

    • +1

I have this, Some or most of these monitors are known to flicker. Mine does if it sees a specific picture. I can link it if you want and anyone who wants to check their own viewsonic.

      https://old.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/eyaa4k/if_you_own…

    • Just bought the Viewsonic yesterday, fantastic monitor. Colours are great, and matches well to the dell ultrasharp I've been using for colours and contrast. Warranty is another thing, I bought it from centrecom, so in store warranties are usually pretty straight forward. Its similar priced but a bit cheaper, quality is pretty similar so either pay more for a premium brand or save some cash.
The viewsonic is extremely popular though, so they're hard to get, and usually don't last long

    • I'd recommend Dell because of the 3 year premium panel guarantee. Viewsonic refused to help after a stuck pixel appear on my monitor (the VX2758-2KP-MHD) 2 months after purchasing.

    Nice all-round

I already ordered S3220DGF from last deal.. I actually wanted to get IPS panel.. should I cancel and get this? :(

    • +5

      Yes get the IPS

      • +1

Yes… I just ordered this one .. now I have to cancel or return the 32' one..

        • +1

yeh same here ive ordered both now, should be able to return the 32inch one but it was done through ebay so dont know how that works

  • +1

really wish it was height adjustable but seems pretty nice overall.

  • +2

Just ordered 27gl850, should wait for a couple of days….

    • +4

u won't regret. Great monitor bought one 2 months ago

    • Yeah, no regrets whatsoever. I recommend a 2060 or higher to run everything smooth though.

    • @Calvinlol Nice! Where did you end up picking up the 27GL850? Been struggling to find stock and a decent price.

  • +1

I can’t find anywhere that it says it’s VESA mountable, anyone know?

  • This looks awesome. Thanks OP. Have the S2719DGF. Gonna try sell that and hopefully not end up paying much to upgrade to this!

  • Not sure if I should get this as my second monitor as I already have the 27GL850…bet it would work well together though…

    • I have the 27GL850 as well, and I just bought this one. After 27GL850, it's hard to go back to shitty spec

      • Sorry, Did you mean this monitor that was shit compared to the GL850? I thought they used the same panel? :O

        • +4

Think he meant that he needs another good monitor to go with the LG one

    • I've got two different monitors side by side.
The aesthetic is weird. The bevels, the offset, the colour, they're all slightly different. If you like a super sleek clean look, you might find this jarring.
      Just something to consider.

      • +1

I ended up buying it. I think they look pretty similar, in terms of bezels, colours and size to the LG 27". The only thing that is different is the logo on the bottom bezel, which for me is no big deal. Will probably need a dual monitor mount though and it would look pretty sick.

  • +1

No cashback from SB or CR right? Since the coupon is not on their website

    • Just got a Cashback confirmation email!

      • How long ago did you order? I'm still waiting and hoping it'll be confirmed for me.

        • Dell order confirmation email 11:47am
          Cashback rewards email: 1:27pm

          • @MBix: did you use shopback or cashrewards?

            • @XxDonniexX: Shopback has 6% back.

            • @XxDonniexX: Used Cashrewards, it did say 6% Cashback but only gave me 3% for some reason

      • +1

Damn! Lesson is always do it…

  • Just bought this in the morning: https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-ultrasharp-27-usb-c-hub… (but from the dell outlet store for cheaper). Should I cancel and get this instead?

The pros of the u2721DE seem to be the usb-c for my MacBook. But I could just get an adaptor?

I plan to use it mainly for work and occasional gaming.

    • +2

You wont be driving it higher than 60Hz on USB-C, but even if you got this monitor, your macbook wont be getting the high frame rates.

      • In that case I might stick with the u2721DE. Planning on getting a switch sometime but realised that can only go max 60Hz as well.

        • The one you bought was a 8 bit panel however this one in the deal is a 10-bit (or maybe 8-bit+rfc) panel which means better color. So if I were you I would cancel last order and get this one. But if you care about USB-C then that's a different story

          • @HD9990: Yeah USB-C would be amazing. But then again, if I ever get a gaming pc instead of a switch, the u2721DE won't hold up as much.

            • @Mr Brown: It seems like…. this one doesn't come with a speaker… so won't fit your potential switch that well.

              • +1

@HD9990: Speakers in monitors are garbage anyway - no loss!

              • @HD9990: Ah okay. I think I might stick with what I bought already then. Got it for $550, think that's not too bad considering I still get 3yr warranty

  • Perfect timing for me. Thanks OP!

  • +4

ops impulse purchase (not 1 but 2)

  • +2

Thanks OP. I was hanging out for the LG27GL850 too. But this probably even better with Dell warranty and a great price.

    • I was in the same predicament, but in the end I bought the Dell.
Had no problems with their monitors and warranty, plus the specs are similar (identical?) to the LG. That and we won't see a nice Amazon price on the LG anytime soon since these have been out of stock for a while.

  • This or LG 27UL600? Both around the same price of $540.

    • +1

refresh rate vs resolution. Depends on what you want.

But i would go for this cos at 27 inch i dont think i need 4k. The higher refresh rate suits me better

      • 4k at 27" is weird…I tried it for a bit and that size seems a little small for it to be worth it.

  • +1

Ordered one ! Was due for a upgrade , spend so much time on the pc now that it's definitely worth !

  • This or Xiaomi 34" Monitor?

    • Not a direct comparison, its a 27" IPS vs a 34" VA ultrawide. Depends on your space and what you have now.

    • definitely this

    • What about for a dedicated gaming PC. Either one better or just personal preference for wide screen or not?

  • Wow this is a nice deal. Anyone got advice for me: I'm in the process of trying to get a second hand aw3418dw for ~$800. Do you think it's worth it or should I just go for this?

    • +2

buy now think later (unless you are dead set on an ultrawide)

      • +1

        Pulled the trigger 👍

  • Thanks OP! Ordered one too!

  • +1

So close to pulling the trigger, can anyone let me know if this would be compatible with a 2015 Macbook pro with Retina? (Says the native resolution is 2560x 1600). Sorry i'm a big noob with computers and will be using for productivity purposes and media watching.

    • +2

My 2012 MBP can drive a 2560x1600 Dell monitor so yes should be no problem. Get a mini display port to normal display port cable.

  • +2

Please tell me why I don't need this.

    • +1

      Need 4k 144hz
      Waiting for lg gn 950

      Is this enough?

      • I was contemplating the same but ended up pulling the trigger on this one. Figure there’s more refinement yet to go in the 4K space.
Also this is more than half the price of the LG GN950

        • so you think 2k reso has had enough refinement for you to pull the trigger?

          • @howard22: I think its a combination of price point, refinement and yet to see capabilities and features of the new graphics cards. Might pickup the GN950 after its been on the market for a bit and once it goes on sale.

      • yeah to play rocket league 4k at 144hz

  • Don't need it but this looks to be an awesome monitor for the price! Would recommend to anyone for gaming, IPS is a bonus too for normal use

    • My intention for this monitor is to play warZone but my gpu can’t handle 1440p with decent FPS. I’m looking to buy next gen rtx gpu. Should I buy this monitor now or later?

      • You don't need to handle 1440p with your GPU right now, 1440p is a benefit when using Windows by itself at that size. You can still play the game in 1080p

        • +3

It’ll look pretty bad at 1080p non native on a 27 inch

          • @piston3461: Yea don’t want to scale it to blurry 1080p but that option is definitely available.

      • I've been wondering the same thing. I was looking at the aw3420dw and previously the 3418dw, and it seems that if you are prepared to wait, those ultrawides always get price cut from RRP down to around 1k when the newer model releases. Don't quote me, but search ozb for aw3418dw and check the deal listings. If you're holding off buying a gpu till early next year, i would save more and wait for the monitor too.
Edit: what I'm getting at it that dell seems to regularly discount their range until the new model releases, at which point the older model is a steal
