Edit - this is only available through Ubisoft China unfortunately. The good news is that it can be claimed quite easily.
1) On your phone (not desktop), claim the game in the OP link. No VPN required.
2) Open up uplay and you'll be able to see it in your games.

I was able to claim it successfully.

Free until August 4th.

      What error were you getting? I 'purchase' it in the browser, it asks me if I want to download or launch UPlay and I click Launch as I already have it - uPlay then asks me for an activation code… was that the same error you had?

    GREAT game. Light puzzle mechanics and beautiful art style with a heart wrenching story. So good for free.

      very light puzzles unfortunately.
      Many times I had an idea of the solution right after entering a new area. It was just a matter of walking slowly and executing each requirement for the solution.

    When I click "Get it for free" from the web site it says "Game is activated in your Uplay Account". Then when I click to launch Uplay it is asking for a activation code.

    Game isn't showing up in Uplay under free games or in my library.

    Great game otherwise. Originally played this as an XBLA title on the 360.

        You can add the game to your wishlist in browser then go to your wishlist in the Uplay launcher.

        It shows Free there (similarly to the browser) but it still asks for activation code.

      Doesn't work.. asks for activation code in the Uplay library else the game doesn't show up even though the website says activated in your library on Uplay.

    So with the activation error that I (and many others have been getting) on my desktop browser, I tried the desktop mode on mobile method and although it says 'Your game is activated on your Uplay library'. When I look at my library it's not there, so I think it's still bugged.

    Typical Ubisoft.

    Can anyone who says they've got the game successfully actually confirm it's in their Uplay library?

    Edit: Just saw the timing revision in the post. Perhaps we are all just too early if the game isn't 'free' till 11pm, even though the website says its free now

      Yeah .. might be a clock thing, Website uses local time (users browser time) to show its free - but server that grants it is on US time and denys it?

    Played this game on my iPad a few years back. Amazing story telling and excellent soundtrack. Would highly recommend.

    I did it!
    On my phone or from desktop, doesn't matter.
    Make sure you close the "switch store" modal.
    Then click the blue button, login, then redeem!

      Confirmed that you must click the second button, otherwise it will redirect you to whatever store deemed appropriate given your IP.

        Still didn't work that way for me. Ended up doing it via mobile as others suggested, and loaded up Uplay afterwards. Got it now and can finally put out the positive vote!

    I eventually got it after a bit of messing around. Going back and forth logging into the Chinese Uplay store on my phone then going back and claiming it a few times and it suddenly worked.

    Shows up in my Uplay account now.

      Thank Freezies. I was going to give up but persisted when I saw your comment. I kept on logging into the China site, claiming the game, opening Uplay then closing Uplay and restarting the process until it showed up.

    I was able to claim it (using china link) but only using mobile, not desktop

    When I clicked link from desktop it prompted me to open uplay. When I opened it, it asked me for activation key.

    In comparison on mobile, it doesn't give you the option of opening uplay so it might automatically add the game to your account.

      It never ask me of activation key, it just ask me login to my Uplay account and I check on my desktop Uplay it shows in the account.

    Another confirmation that it worked via mobile. Just clicked on mobile, it pops up with a "It's in your game library" message then it is now in Uplay (desktop).

    Wow. After lots of trying (using mobile) and retracing steps and eventually got this message:

    ALL GOOD. Your game is activated on your Uplay library

    Finally! Ubisoft wants us to make sure we work for it just to get a freebie.

    It worked for me. As other people mentioned, you claim the game through the Chinese mobile website then restart Uplay on your desktop.

    confirm this worked after doing it a second time.
    first time i did it it said it worked but didn't load to my uplay library. waited a few hours and checked again still not there. tried the second time and it showed up immediately.

    It works via Mobile. As I don't speak Chinese it was a bit difficult but managed to fumble my way through and got it activated.

    here's how i got it, copy link to whatsapp, launch on mobile, log in with regular aus account, refresh again the link if log in hangs, then click on the chinese wordy thingy which is a blue button and you will get a message game added to library.

    back on pc, proceed to click the same link, then blue button, then select launch uplay, and it starts to install right away. done! woo hoo~

    Used Chrome on my Android phone:

    • Logged into the Australian Ubi store here: https://store.ubi.com/anz
    • Clicked deal link
    • Click on big blue button, and the screen popped up with "All good!" and "Game activated in your library" or something along the lines
    • If a different screen pops up with an entry box prefilled with "+61" it's asking you to set up a phone number, scroll down and hit the white button which is "skip"

    Great game, absolute shit on my ipad as all the audio is extremely distorted and static. No its not my ipad or headphones, its a known bug that many people have noted in the app store reviews. Really sours a great game that has been left for so long with such an obvious and huge flaw.
