price in title, having $50 off doesn't really let anyone know if this is a deal or good buy for them

    • thanks for letting me know, I have updated the title

  • $479, was $529.

    • thanks for clarifying

  • Not seeing the discount in cart (and am logged in IKEA Family account), how do you trigger the discount?

I was able to see it when I at step:Review & Pay

      • Yup, I can see discount is applied during checkout after selecting store for click and collect.

I have the Ikea SKARSTA Desk, only $2xx,good quality.

    • How does the winding mechanism feel? Doesn't feel too cheap?

      • I have only seen it in store and looks pretty decent/sturdy. Haven't purchased it yet since I need to do a bulk purchase for a re-furnish

      • +1

I have it. It feels solid and I have no issues with the winding mechanism. I'm also glad I didn't spend the money on the electrical mechanism since I never actually set it to standing lol

        • Was going to post the same. It's perfectly fine to wind and it would feel silly to spend hundreds to alleviate the pain of twenty seconds winding.

          • @a22andrew: I have the OfficeWorks Matrix one which I bought last week. It's pretty good. Sturdy and huge desk space

    • I bought one last week as well, no regrets at all. Good quality table.

    • +1 got the large one 160x80 for $269 for the wife, whilst we're all WFH. She loves it and the manual winding is actually a bonus workout. Mechanism and the entire frame seems very sturdy, and with the Ikea warranty, I'm very happy with the purchase.

      • Sturdy even when extended up? No wobble?

        • Yep, very stable & sturdy

          • @kacak: What about the table top material? There isn't an IKEA close enough to me to just pop in.
Is it a smoother finish or rougher? The website says particleboard but not real sure what that feels like.

    • Just put this together this week. It is surprisingly good quality for the money. The only part which feels cheap is the particle board top but obviously there's nothing they can do about that.

      • Is it a rough feeling one or a smoother finish? And does it wobble when extended?

        • the tabletop is roughish on top and smooth on the bottom. I can use my mouse without a pad. I've loaded it with 2 monitors and have no experienced no signs of instability.

          • @star-ggg: yeah okay, do you use the roughish side for your mouse?
Did you get the bigger one?

            • @JoKing: you can't choose which side you want. The smooth side has the holes for screwing in the legs. I got the small one.

          • @star-ggg: Hmmm my ikea one is smooth on both sides (I got the larger beige one)

  • Recently bought an electric desk frame off eBay for $400 shipped with a desk top (essentially a piece of board) from bunnings, extremely happy with the result and cost. Comes about the same price as this iKea one with significantly larger desk top.

    • Do you have a link to the product?

      • Not sure if sharing link to product would be considered as an advertisement or not (certianly I'm not, just sharing my experience), you may search "standing desk electric frame" and there are plenty. Mine is $399.

    • how about the quality, dual motor or single, what is the size, and compare with zendesk and the likes?

      • Dual motor, length support goes from 1m to 1.8m (my desktop is 1.5*0.7). I have 2 monitors (a 34" curved and a 27" flat), a full metal mini-itx tower and a bunch of other stuff on the table and it just go up and down smoothly. It comes with a controller pad which allows to save 4 customised settings as well, so feature-wise is also better than the Ikea one. Not sure about long-term quality but we will see.

        • not wobbly at say 1.5m ? oh good it has memory setting. ok i found 399 and all the spec matches with yours.
hint it has test report on the bottom of the eBay listing

this is one of the popular desk in ozb https://www.zenspacedesks.com.au/

do you need to cut the table top (the one from Bunning) or Bunning sell with the right size?
which one do you get from Bunning ? dont worry no one will think you are Bunning staff hahaha
so i can see the total cost… thanks

          • @CyberMurning: No not at all, there is a cross-bar so two legs are joint together. It's stable even we place on carpet (probably because of the weight though).

There are different sizes of beechwood tabletops in bunnings, if they come with the right size then you don't really have to cut it down. If even cutting is needed, you can go to the trade section which I believe they can cut for free. The one I've got should be this one (or similar): https://www.bunnings.com.au/2200-x-600-x-26mm-beech-laminate…

      Mine is this https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/matrix-exe…. 1.5m*0.7m

I got a 2nd-hand one for free on Facebook. The controller was missing. I contacted OW, and they asked ~$90 for the spare. I went to Jaycar to buy some switches and build one myself. Cost <$10. Happy with that :)

There's a pretty bad review of the Bekant desks here: https://www.btod.com/blog/problems-ikea-bekant-desk/

However, my office has had 7 of the 160cm Bekant standing desks for over a year with no complaints or problems. Some of our team has bought the same desk for their home office we are so happy with them.

  • Is the discounted price only available via C&C method? There is a $5 service fee. Prefer going in store instead to avoid the service fee.

    • not sure about other methods, maybe someone can find out tonight if the stock last.

  • Wanted to buy this. No height presets = desire killer.

  • It's out of stock in IKEA Rhodes (NSW)
