Pink Stick Fishing Rods - $5 on CLEARANCE @ Kmart

310

Kmart are clearing out their Abu Garcia "Pink Stick" rod and reel combos.
These came out about a year ago and part of the proceeds went to the McGrath Foundation.

There are at least 3 varieties:
* 6'6 spinning combo
* 7' spinning combo
* 6'6 boat combo

The rods are average quality with matching reels - rod and reel are pink.

These were originally priced up to $99.99 each but were reduced on clearance to $15 on Sunday and $5 on Monday.

Perfect for the ladies or the man not worried about using a pink rod/reel…

For $5 you can't possibly buy a rod/reel combo of this quality - sure there are better combos available, but at this price it just won't happen.

Abu make decent reels - better IMHO than Shakespeare and the other Kmart/Big W level stuff…

I suspect a number of fishos have already caught onto these discounts so your local Kmart might already be sold out….

I got the last one at Hornsby NSW yesterday.

Notes:
- There were no signs advertising these discounts - the combos are still tagged at $50+ but scan at $5
- If you scan the barcode near the reel it sometimes comes up with the original price - scan the one at the top of the rod for the $5 price to always appear. The description on both scans is identical but the barcode must be slightly different…

  • there is about 3 7inch and 1 6.6 at werribee plaza store, top scans as $15 bottom scans at $59

      I think you've gotten confused about your pink sticks. The K-Mart one would be 7 foot long and used for catching fish, you might want to use your 7 incher for a different species

      • +3

        lol! oh lord im an idiot! yes it was 7 feet.. the 7incher was from sexyland ;)

  • Pink Stick Fishing Rods - I'm sure there's a sexual innuendo to be found in here somewhere…

      To quote scrubs - In your endo

  • None at Plenty Valley, Vic.

  • None at Chatswood, NSW

  • Kmart Campbellfield has a few but they all scan at $59. Only one barcode on sticks to scan.

    • Confirmed. If you look closely, staff appear to have cut off the top barcode from the sticks. The pink label at the top of the rod is cut unevenly on them all so they're obviously not discounting at campbellfield.

  • So is this a barcode mistake at the ops store only?

    • The barcode hanging off the rod is scanning at $15 at werribee store but the one on the bottom of the rod on the plastic is scanning at $59.

    • Hardly - there are Kmarts in several states with the same thing…

      • So we have Hornsby and Chadstone. Any others confirmed?

        • North Rocks and Castle Hill - both now sold out…
          Werribee plaza @ $15

          A number of Kmarts have the rods but have cutoff the top cheaper barcode…

  • Picked one up at Chadstone tonight, thanks

  • OK looks like we have a mixed bag here of $5 and $15 rods - as well as some without the top barcode still at full price…

  • +1

    seems like the 'top' is cheaper than the 'bottom' price…hmmm

  • Are the rods one or two piece??

  • None at Ballarat

  • None at Tuggeranong ACT. They have them at Belconnen but the rods only have the one barcode at the bottom and it scans at $59.00. Great deal though OP well done. Loving the fishing deals lately on ozbargain, keep them coming.

    None @ KMart Brunswick, Vic

    • thanks mate, saved me a trip

  • Caloundra Kmart has cut off the cheap barcode, the rods are scanning at $59 now.
