MateNBN is already $10 cheaper than other NBN providers. Check out their plans.

You know your ISP is amazing when their main marketing choice is "Does your internet give you the chance to WIN $25,000?" That's just hilarious

    • +1

      Yeah theyre looking very tempting….

    • Just did, doesn't look like $10 cheaper.

  • I've been with ABB for a few months now - Lets just say I'm not considering changing ISP's anytime soon.

  • Guys I'm currently with abb, I need advice on what company to switch to now for a few months please!

Launtel is worth a look and if signing up you may as well grab a OzB Referral Link which gives
$50 account credit for referrer, $25 account credit for referee. Min $50 to apply discounts.

I just signed up with Aussie BB yesterday. Phone service was local, fantastic and friendly. As I already had NBN previously, NBN service with Aussie BB was connected within 30 mins. I signed up for $69/mth (1 free month) for 25/5, which I know is only a step up above ADSL, but enough for a 3 people household.

Previously I was with TPG NBN, the worse possible service. Their NBN service kept dropping out daily, I had to ring them a total of 15 times in 2 weeks. I didn’t have internet for a fortnight. Finally tpg obliged and sent the NBN crew to rewire my connection. They refused to reduce the $69 monthly fees for the days I didn’t have internet. So ticked off, I had to cancel it on moral grounds.

  • A lot of these new offers don’t seem like good value for people who have been on their current plan for over a year. Prices have crept up or plans have reduced their upload limits.

I’m on 100/40 with SL and it looks like that plan for new customers is now 100/20. This ABB offer wouldn’t work out any cheaper for me to switch and then I’d be paying more after 6 months.

Not sure why providers seem to be making this move towards 20mbps down in their plans.

  • No gigabit, so not on the only plan that matters.

  • I like the idea to change provider at some stage for any reason, better price or service or speed. Never done it before and I wonder if sometime you need to buy a new router or when you have one is good for all.

  • I signed up with ABB yesterday , still waiting to find out when the nbn switch over will happen

I had hoped for better service …..

This is worse than a standard referral unless you plan is less than $30 a month. (or $60 if you don't consider the value to the referrer)

  • I have a Sagemcom Optus nbn modem brand new. Will it be compatible with ABB nbn?
I prefer to have consistently good internet connection as I am mostly working from home.
Should I use this modem or consider using a different high quality modem?

    • Sagemcom is just a brand but has many models, grab the Model number and call ABB and check with them. Chances are it will be fine.

      • Great thanks will do so.

    • I use an Optus supplied Sagemcom 3864 working fine on ABB FTTN

      You need admin access

      https://github.com/mattimustang/optus-sagemcom-fast-3864-hac…

It's bridged to a Netgear R8000. The connection dropouts are all due to NBN tbh.

      • Ok thanks.

I believe I should not update the firmware at any time right?

        • More chance of gaining admin access if you don't.

          • @CVonC: Got it.
I also have 3864, so should be fine I guess.

Be careful not to use too much data (even though it's UNLIMITED) or sign up again using promo codes with the same address and using the wifes name as I've seen some people toy the idea with on this very thread, see latest NBN news, this mob will cry fair use, kick you from their service.

    • +1

      Hi there,

We absolutely are fine with people enjoying unlimited data on their service for genuine reasons. Lots and lots of our customers are people who are high users such as gamers - including many of our own team.

We do check with our highest users from time to time to make sure their use is genuine.

What we do have issues with is people breaching our fair use policy for things like reselling our services, running their own ISP or damaging our network, which all impact on other users.

      Cheers, Nicole

    • If you actually read the news about the kicked user you'll find that the person's use of the data use was not legitimate in that they were trying to strain the internet traffic on purpose for no good reason. I think that's fair enough, I wouldn't want someone on my node slowing down traffic for me on purpose.

U.N.L.I.M.I.T.E.D. If it isn't don't use that word.

  • Will be trying these guys. Hopefully they have better service than Superloop

  • anyone know if i can still join NBN after disconnection date? currently with local Fixed wireless service (non NBN) . any extra fee i join to NBN later after ADSL and landline disconnected

    • You can do that, Aussie doesn't charge any fees for a new connection unless your property is a "New Development".
      https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/help-centre/nbn/plans/are…

      • Still need to pay for a new modem right?

        • For the NBN side of equipment like the NTD, you normally don't have to pay to install it (Unless new development). On your side, yes, you will need a modem/router regardless of when you join NBN and you normally have to pay for this. The type of modem/router also depends on the NBN technology you have. Note if you already have a router it may be possible to reuse it instead of buying a new one.

          • @wangasm: Thanks for that, how do I get an NTD?

Do people get one every time they sign up to a new plan or how does the ISP know we need one?

            • @RtN: When you sign up, the ISP will organise a technician from NBN to come physically install it. This happens for any completely new NBN connection and the ISP should know if you need one. This doesn't need to be done again when you switch ISPs or if you move into a place that already had NBN installed, you simply reuse the already installed equipment.

  • I am on optus cable… I need a new NBN modem don't I even if I only use it in bridge mode?

Actually I might just need an NBNCo device, does ABB send one out regardless?

    NBN Type: FTTC

  • trying to sign up now after being with superloop for 6 months and its saying the code is invalid….
has this expired? the link to T&C leads to 404

    • Hi there,

The code is still valid as long as you are signing up on one of the following unlimited nbn plans: nbn25/10, nbn50/20, nbn100/20, nbn100/40 or Fixed Wireless Plus.

      Here's a link to our T&Cs: https://aussiebroadband.com.au/forms/legal/promotions-terms-…

If you have any dramas, please don't hesitate to shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do.

      Cheers, Nicole
