wth is PIZZA hut doing selling wings?

    • +1

      Diversification of product.

    • +1

Same reason that Dominos sells chicken ribs?

    • They've had plain wings (really nice with range sauce actually) for ages.

They also do ribs and lasagne now too. Expensive, but not bad at all.

    • Anyone want to tell him Red Rooster sold Fish and Chips?

  • Usual Cost, 24 Wings for $24.95
Promo Cost, 24 Wings for $24.00

Poor Promotion technique, isn't it supposed to get cheaper if we take more? Else this offer is just '6 Wings for $6' and nothing beyond that.

    • +1

      $0.95 cheaper?

  • They've been doing it for a while, very average wings

    • I'm a big fan of their normal seasoned wings with the ranch dipping. The sauced wings are ok, not mind-blowing.

  • Careful… You might get too many drumsticks

    • That gave me a good laugh haha

  • I didn't even know Pizza Hut was still around… and they were such a leading pizza chain. Kids, that's what happens to companies that don't embrace technology.

    • Well they've jumped into the 21st century now with chicken wings, so never fear.

    • What went wrong on the technology front for them, as compared to Dominos?

      • +1

Domino's invested heavily and earlier into its online platform/delivery system. For it's day it was advanced and easy to use. This allowed them to expand more quickly and easily as compared to Pizza Hut which was still relying on its eat-in restaurants. Technology isn't the only thing that Domino's did right but it's certainly a large factor.

        • I wonder if there are any good documentaries that showcase comparisons between one brand doing better than another because of a smart decision corporate/owners made.

    • The sad thing is that Pizza Hut still leads by a large margin IMO. Domino's pizzas are generally smaller than Pizza Hut and thinner (default crust options). Domino's is just more popular because of their aggressive reinvestment into the business (e.g. tech wise, expansion of new stores etc.) which was reflected in their share price performance.

I feel for Pizza Hut like how I feel for Red Rooster, they're both unloved fast food places that deserve more recognition.

  • Which one is better - traditional, seasoned or spicy boneless?

    • I'm gonna try to try all of them but I am a huge fan of anything boneless but very hard to find any good boneless chicken at least in Sydney I have not found any good ones.

The best I have found so far was in Blacktown NSW Broaster Chicken crispy tenders which closes at 3am.

They sell a bunch of great sauces too not a bad place keep to the chicken which is what they are good at and you will be golden.

      • very hard to find any good boneless chicken at least in Sydney I have not found any good ones.

Hmm you could check out Incredible Chicken at the Strathfield Sports Club. Their boneless is decent, they can be very busy though (before coronavirus anyway).

Otherwise I think I've heard good things about Jeans Chilli Chicken.

Oh, and Gami opened up some stores in Sydney not long ago (I think). Haven't been to the Sydney stores but the Melbourne ones are ok.

        • Oh ok sounds promising.

What's the price of their boneless chicken?

I think Broaster Chicken crispy tender prices are pretty competitive their chicken is cheaper than KFC except when KFC have their specials but base price Broaster Chicken is cheaper.

          • @AlienC: I can't recall but it's not exactly cheap. Expect to spend somewhere around probably $20-$30 I'd say (at Incredible Chicken and Gami).

Never heard of Broaster Chicken, might have to take a look!

            • @Ghost47: How many pieces does that get you and how would you rate the size of their pieces?

Bigger or smaller or same size as KFC or supermarket tenders?

Broaster chicken crispy tenders are massive size compared to any other tenders I have eaten like double supermarket size and triple probably KFC tender size they are thick pieces of boneless freshly fried chicken so good.

Wish they expanded to Blue Mountains but the locals here would never let it very how do you say "vegan" influence over here I guess or maybe just anti fast food kind of area vibe which is nice because the places does feel less hail corporate sometimes or less fast foody place even though there are domino's and subway in almost every second suburb.

Pros and cons I guess to having a chicken place right near your doorstep.

We do have Poulets Chicken Express in Katoomba but they close pretty early at 6pm and don't deliver and you don't get that KFC or Broaster Chicken feel imho but still better than nothing I guess.

Yeah if you craving fried chicken at 1-2am in the morning Broaster Chicken Blacktown is your best place they close at 3am.

              • @AlienC: Oh it gets you a decent plate/basket of chicken. If I had to say I would guess somewhere around 15-20 pieces? In terms of size they would be similar to the KFC tender, just short and spherical instead of long and thin. It's decent fried chicken, but Korean Fried Chicken is usually kind of plain when it's on it's own and there aren't any sauces on the side. I think people just like it mainly because it's fried very well (i.e. crispy on the outside and tender on the inside).

Damn, their chicken sounds like it's on steroids! Yeah most country/small towns don't usually have a McDonald's or fast food place.

                • @Ghost47: Oh nice 15-20 pieces is not bad for $20-$30.

Do they have a smaller size with like maybe 5-10 pieces because I think that is the ideal size and if you are hungry still you can get something even smaller size.

                  • @AlienC: Yeah but pieces are small.. I guess the value is ok. It seems they have a "regular" serve for $18 and a "large "serve" for $34. Not sure if it's boneless though (but the last time I had it was boneless).

                    • +1

@Ghost47: Ah ok sounds not too bad I really want to check it out now.

    • I've always been a fan of the seasoned ones. I think they're seasoned, they used to just have "6 chicken wings" without the disparity between Traditional and Seasoned.

Those wings with ranch dip have always been a fave (they stopped giving the dip free with the wings which sucks).
