Hey everyone,

Here is an awesome offer for some raw Australian honey. It's 100% pure and unfiltered.

It comes in 530g glass jars and it's made near Melbourne. You need to order two jars (1kg) to get 20% discount and free shipping.

Why just one product? I'm helping my mum sell the honey. It's her first harvest for sale. She originally planned to start selling the honey on the markets to see how she goes but for obvious reasons that's not happening.

Support a local beekeeper. I'm sure you will love the taste at this great price.

Hey op (and op's mum). Good luck with the new venture =D

Edit: I'm sure we've all had proper honey before (not that dodgy and mass produced stuff), but if you haven't, the richer taste is worth the premium!

Thank you. That's the first thing a couple of people told us when they tried it. Huge difference in taste.

Honey from real bees gives your tea/coffee extra buzz

      • Just need to bee careful you don't make it too sweet!

        • People just going to think you are a hive of excitement once you put too much honey in your tea/coffee and you are buzzing from the sugar rush.

Local farmers market sells 1kg for $12

    • +6

Hey, thanks for the comment. Shipping is $12-$15, plus glass jars, credit card processing fees, and tax. It's definitely cheaper on farmers market, just not comparable.

      • I guess the only thing you can justify is shipping, which is actually currently needed in Melbourne due to the lock down. Most place use glass jars ($2 from Kmart) and average card processing fee is 2%

      • Oh hey it's the COVID outbreak, we at our gin distillery will use our premium alcohol to make hand sanitizers. Here's a 1L bottle for $50. Shipping is $12 plus our premium gin glass jars, credit card processing fees, and tax.

It's definitely cheaper in foreign markets, just not comparable.

$30 for 2.6kg of 100% pure honey from here -

I have no connection to these guys (and I don't know what their freight rates are like) but I have bought their honey before and it is really nice.

You should call it Manuka for that price.

    • -2

Manuka honey is produced from manuka nectar.
Has nothing to do with price.

        woosh…

  • Hey OP - check the dead line in the website footer (Learn) linked to /blog

Not much doubt way better honey than what you get at the supermarket but I reckon a touch expensive for ozbargain tastes - maybe a 4x jar special with lower costs per jar might do better - best of luck

for comparison my last purchase of honey was from MediJeli and their bottom of the range Manuka MGO30 is $38 delivered for 1kg (to my suburb in NSW) https://www.medijelly.com.au/product/manuka-honey-mgo30-1kg/ - I haven't tried them all but MGO200 has been my favourite (I got a few smaller jars to test)

    • Thanks, fixed. Yeah, that's a good idea, next time.

My colleague use to bring us honey from his parents bee farm. The taste is amazing.

Used to? Did he buzz off?

      • -1

He found another job after being made redundant.

        • Wow. Negged for stating a fact. Company was laying people off. He happened to be one of them. Though from what I hear he volunteered to be made redundant.

  • Do you offer pickup to save on shipping?
Always happy to try local raw honey!

    • Just make sure you're truly local and not chasing a "specific" honey…

      • That's one special kind of imbecile.

Am I missing something, but just wondering how is this an offer when comparable farmers market honey is cheaper/same quality.

  • Where in Melbourne is the honey from?

Also, one thing alot people like is where it come from on the label.
Your label had a CBD location as the mail address, doesn't really give the impression it's a small family business… Not saying your not, just the impression that gives on a bespoke product!

Good luck, I'd be keen to try this honey

    • It's from Northern outskirts of Melbourne. I work in the city hence the address. You make a good point though, will consider when we do new labels to make it more specific to where the honey comes from.

After the German testing where Capilano got caught out the only honey I buy is Beechwoth pure honey that passed with flying colors . Last time I bough was $18 per 1.5 KG and credentials are sound :)

    • Yes - only one I buy from Woolworths or Coles when in a rush but this doesn't mean smaller producers shouldn't be trusted. If you're buying from an actual shop there are also heaps of good choices at Harris Farm https://www.harrisfarm.com.au/collections/honey

I wouldn't be surprised if Capilano backlash results in full rebrand at some stage to the new name they introduced last year "Hive and Wellness Australia". In an attempt to protect the main brand they're also selling cheaper imported blended honey under a new name "Cloverdale". It's everywhere at Woolworths and seems to sell well because it's often way cheaper. I'm really glad Coles doesn't sell it.

      • Cloverdale is absolutely terrible.
Confirmed with them it's imported from various countries. Enquired as it was so bad. Thought we got rid of allowrie rubbish that got sold at one point, now there selling Cloverdale

  • my brother sells pure unfiltered honey from his local hives for $10 for 1kg in local community, many around area are $15-18 for a kg so this seems quite expensive.

    • How do I get in touch (pun not intended during this period of time) with your brother? I'd be interested to try his honey.

  • To confirm, this honey can't be sent to W.A?

  • Hi OP
From Sydney, when I put 2 jars into cart I get the $39.99 with free shipping, but when I try to check out it comes with an error message and changes my shipping to express hopping of 14.95

    • Works fine for me. Put the order through and I will change it in the backend if need be to $39.99 with free shipping for 2 jars.
