Ear Clear contains ingredients that are strong on ear gunk but gentle on a tender ear. It contains strong drying agents that breaks down material in the ear and dries it out for clean fresh ears. Unlike antibiotics, Ear Clear will not destroy the natural balance of bacteria and flora in the ear, which is necessary in eradicating chronic ear problems.
• For maintenance use only once per week.

After extensive testing, these formulas then become available to the consumer market. The product range has continued to evolve since 2005 into the extensive range which is now available for purchase today. Each year additional products are included into our range.

    link isn't working for me

  • Works fine here too.
How long after order can we expect delivery?

  • $470/litre for ear drops? What is it made from - printer ink?

No, more likely glycerol, Isopropyl Alcohol and vinegar.

Just go to your local chemist and ask for some mammalian ear drops.
Or DIY if you need bulk amounts.

Beware - Animal naturopathy products don't generally have a placebo effect on animals, but they do on you. Your animal still suffers.

Saline normally works as well as anything - antibiotics are needed to control bacterial infections in the ear - magic doesn't work. An animal homoeopathy diploma - those have the scientific credibility value of toilet paper?

Vinegar, or any other acid, helps prevent infection, while alcohol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMGIbOGu8q0zand other "natural" chemicals help dry the ear.
Naturopaths are not quite as bad as homeopaths. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMGIbOGu8q0

      • Not quite as bad, but bad enough.

How does vinegar (or any other acid) or alcohol, kill the bad bacteria and prevent infection, without damaging "the natural balance" of other bacteria in the ear? These frauds feed off of peoples fear of "unnatural" (read scientifically proven and clinically tested) medicine. It really gets me when they peddle this crap for animals - people who believe in this stuff respond to the "medicine" through the placebo effect, animals don't get this luxury and generally suffer before getting proper treatment.

You can wish yourself better by believing in magic, it is much more difficult to wish your pet better.

        • How do antibiotics kill the bad bacteria and prevent infection, without damaging "the natural balance" of other bacteria in the ear?

They don't, and no drug manufacturer would claim they did. This is just another fear tactic by these woo pedallers. What purpose do "beneficial" "flora" have in the ear? Which bacteria are beneficial in the ear? What is the effect of removing them?

It is ear wax that is the beneficial substance in ears, your lower gut is one of the few places where bacteria are beneficial. You tend to not want them in your ears, or any other orifice.

        • Same answers apply to dogs as humans.

They don't, and no drug manufacturer would claim they did.

antibiotics are mainly an indiscriminate 'kill everything, just in case' solution.
The use of alcohol, acetic acid preparations in this case, are aimed at modifying the environment to such an extent that certain types of bacteria can not survive. In the case of ear infections, having the ear 'wetter' than is usual, can favour the growth of some pathogens. Therefore 'drying' the ear is likely to inhibit such growth.

I am certainly no fan of neither naturopathy nor homeopathy…. however the product described above would, on paper at least, appear to be an appropriate method of preventing and treating minor ear infection.

your lower gut is one of the few places where bacteria are beneficial. You tend to not want them in your ears, or any other orifice.

Unfortunately, we tend to be stuck with them whether we want them or not….. it's keeping a reasonable balance of the beasties…. that's the trick

  • Anything that dries the ear out is bad if there is an infection presnet. It will sting your dogs ear.
If your dog has an infection in their ear go to the Vet.
