  • How much do you sell for normally?

    • In stores wood like this is often 50% more, and they dont post too.

  • Seems like a good price. Don't need one but +1 from me.

    • Thank you!

  • Do these stain the water? I had big problems with that once to the point I had to remove them.

    • You should soak any driftwood you buy for your tank before you put it in. This is to get it waterlogged (so it sinks and doesn’t float on top - or glue it to something heavy I guess) and also soaking to get as much of the tannins out (so it doesn’t stain your tank). You should soak in warm water and change water to speed up process.

      • Yeah did that but it just wouldn't stop staining. Literally weeks didn't help

        • Oh wow.. These ones look OK though - not super dark or thick. I like the stringy looking driftwood which I think much be easier because of the larger total surface area.

        • If its a high tannin wood and you have a small tank it can take ages to stop. These firewood should be sweet, and leave a comment, I can give you wood with less tannins, but if you have a massive wood peice (or a lot) in a relatively small tank it will stain.

    • Whether it stains the water or not depends on:

      1. The wood volume VS tank volume you use
      2. How many water changes you do.
      3. Whether you boil the wood or not.
      4. How much tannins the wood has (not much for these, but there are always some)

So if any of those are extreme it will stain for you. As Mo said, boil and soak it first if you don't want it to stain.

    • +1

add purigen to your filter and regenerate it once a month

      • Was not aware of this product, thanks.

        • i put it in my filters for about 6 months to get excessive tannins out. Though tbh I like a little tannin in the tank as a lot of aquatic plants like softer water.

  • I’ve bought from these guys before. The wood doesn’t stain the water or seep anything. My plecos love it.

    • Thanks denwol! Just a warning to everyone; whether it stains the water or not depends on:

      1. The wood volume VS tank volume you use
      2. How many water changes you do.
      3. Whether you boil the wood or not.
      4. How much tannins the wood has (not much for these, but there are always some)

So if any of those are extreme it will stain for you.
