Samsung G9 49" QLED Ultrawide Curved Gaming Monitor G-Sync 240HZ - $2799 w/ Bonus Samsung Portable SSD T7 500GB Grey ($188) @ HN

1170

This is a pretty pricy monitor, however the premium is worth it. You can preorder it for the 30/7 and will get a bonus 500GB Samsung external ssd, which is the best price and offer out of any online stores offering this monitor, plus is easy to file a claim if something is wrong with the monitor (which has been the case due to callbacks of this model in the US)

          • @lubos: It clearly says in that reddit post from Micro Centre that Samsung HAS recalled it.

            Read.

I’m not saying no one isn’t receiving their monitor, But many that have are having issues, and most of the major retailers have pulled the g9 from pre order/sale.

I’m not claiming anything it’s just a fact, why are you so defensive about it? It is what it is.

              Read.

OK, I did. At what point does the email say the product has been recalled? I just can't find it in that email. You are imagining things.

But many that have are having issues

It's bleeding edge technology. It was expected there will be issues but apparently none of those issues make people cancel their pre-orders.

and most of the major retailers have pulled the g9 from pre order/sale.

G9 is the most hyped monitor of all times. We are in the middle of pandemic. There is clearly a mismatch between demand and supply. If Samsung has so many pre-orders that will take months to fullfill, they could have instructed retailers to stop accepting new pre-orders to avoid people being disappointed. Could this be another logical explanation without the product being recalled?

    • No official word from samsung. I think it may be delayed a few weeks for more qa before being sent out

  • G9 has been pulled from pre order from pccasegear.com.au, mwave, still up on scorptec but price to high and shipping cost a joke from there.

I wish all the early adopters the best of luck but with the recall in the US and the photos I’ve seen on reddit and other forums of the screen ripping away from the housing, the back light bleed caused by the that 1000r curve, the flickering issues and the immense heat issues I won’t be touching this.

    Good luck!

Bad news :( I picked up my order yesterday from Harvey Norman. I'm not sure why they released it early, but anyway I was super excited.

After I finished setting it up and configuring it, I started inspecting the panel for dead pixels and other issues, and unfortunately I noticed the panel separation problem that other people have reported.

I'm going to reach out to both Samsung and Harvey Norman to figure out next steps. I really don't want to have to go through the panel replacement process unless they can guarantee the new panel doesn't suffer the same or other issues. I'll post an update when I have more info.

Which Harvey norman did you get it from?

    • Damn, that is bad. Take it back and get a refund and wait until they get the new batch without that issue. You are well within your rights to get a refund from HN and don't need to pursue Samsung.

    • Ah wow that really sucks, yeah it's a widespread known issue, and Samsung will have to announce a recall, in some markets they had got away with not recalling it as it wasn't on store shelves yet, but clearly not the case here.

Literally talked to Samsung's hopeless customer support. No recalls announced and they referred me to the store I was buying from for stock availability. Seems like they are always well behind the eight ball. Will probably announce the recall next week the day before launch.

    • I'm surprised you got a unit so early. I read that Samsung Australia was recalling all units in Australia until they figured out the manufacturing issues.

    • Which Harvey Norman store?

    • Very curious to hear the response from HN / Samsung.

      • I'm waiting on a call back from Harvey Norman. Samsung so far have been absolutely useless. The support agent I was chatting to kept ignoring my questions and just wanted to log a service job to get a technician out to inspect the panel. He made it sound like I caused the issue and that I would have to pay if no fault is found or if it was caused by me. He also kept telling me that the serial number I provided was incorrect. It seems like these monitors haven't been loaded into their system. Let's wait and see.

That's frustrating. The lack of clear communication from Samsung regarding very serious and widespread faults with these monitors is very disturbing. Harvey Norman has pushed the release date back to September now so clearly there has been some communication from Samsung there…

Harvey Norman now says delivery by early September, guessing this is related to the maybe-recall-maybe-not situation going on everywhere with the monitor.

    • You're right the page has now been updated. They've also added the CRG9 back to their inventory.
