Have had one for almost 6 months now, and wouldn't recommend it. It draws a lot of amps and the seals aren't very good, so it keeps losing temperature. You're better off waiting for a Waeco or an Engel to go on clearance.

    • What kind of amps are you seeing?

    • Also curious as to what sort of amp draw you get? Nothing like the 1.5~ amp/hr it says on their site?

I think those are just average figures, taking into account periods when the compressor is off. When it's cooling, it draws around 4A consistently. This is not unusual for a 12V fridge of this size, but the key to a good camping fridge is insulation, and these don't insulate all that well, so the compressor will need to cycle more. All in all, I can't complain since I got it for $279 only during one of the SCA 30% off sales. Just need to think about other ways to keep your battery topped up if you decide to use it for more than a night.

        • Solid price - I wish I'd nabbed one during that SCA sale. Thanks for the feedback. Seems most of the cheaper fridges have crappy insulation, I suppose there's only one way to make it that cheap

    • I thought it was priced accordingly… maybe a deal with $55 off

    • Or buy the proper Aussie made Evakool, not the Chinese cheapie. They take one of the best fibreglass eskys and attach a compressor.

  • I have been thinking about one of these, seems very cheap but really undecided. Also the Brass Monkey fridges from RTM are cheap as hell and have a 3 year warranty. Hard to know what to do :/

    • I believe Brass Monkey is the same as the ones sold in Jaycar and RTM is owned by the same person as Jaycar.

      • Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

Last time I read up on them, it was an average fridge
