Yes its a good price, I'm unsure what OEM brand is the Gigabyte though.

    • MEIC. Not really well known but they're confident enough to back it with a 10 year warranty which is always a good sign.

        Is there local rma facility?

  • Unrelated but a long time ago I read that all these brands get their PSU from one manufacturer- Seasonic. Is this true?

Cos of this I bought a seasonic lol. Maybe I read wrong

How's seasonic PSU thesedays with their famous coil whine issue? I had 2 units about 5 years ago both of them have a very annoy little electric buzz noise and i returned both with Corsair PSU they are dead slient with zero issues..

    • Well there are only few research facilities that design these. There is a great video from Gamers Nexus on YT on a detailed factory tour with regards to all things PSU

    • Different companies make different parts of the PSU. Even Seasonic don't make all parts of their own PSU in some models. You're right though, they make the majority of the parts themselves and sell them to the other companies.

  • I bought a Gigabyte PSU about 2 years ago. Not this model, but an 80+ GOLD one but priced similarly. It went bang within 6 months. Gigabyte do great boards, but I won't touch them for a PSU. Had a thermaltake prior that for close to 7 years no issues I just needed more wattage when I replaced it. I replaced the gigabyte with another higher model thermaltake. 1.5 years no issues. I understand the TT arent the top end, but I would consider the Gigabyte PSUs the lower end.

    • What happened after the bang? Did you get another Gigabyte?

      • The PSU continued to work, but obviously I got rid of it quick smart - replaced with the Thermaltake. I never warrantied it back to umart, as I never wanted another one.

        • I'm confused. It went bang. It continued to work. Did it break / fail or not?

          • @oscargamer: Yes, when a PSU's capacitors blow it can continue to work for a limited time - and output various currents incorrectly. When this occurs it may continue to work but it puts your whole system at risk. IE its dead get rid of it.

    • Was it a big bang?

  • Rated B+ on the PSU tier list.

  • Terrible company avoid had my faulty pc for close to a month now… Used to be good but last 6 months gone downhill fast

  • tbh I swear by Corsair PSUs, used them for years and years never had a problem.

  • Off topic…Noob question - my case is the thermaltake v4 black edition, it's manual psu page is here: https://mans.io/files/viewer/564102/4

Would this coolermaster psu fit in my case?
