The link appears to be working now. It was 404'ing before.
Link doesn't work.
Princess Zelda will be upset…
Was link ever actually employed?
Didn't he clear or plough a field in Link to the past, for cold hard rupees? He's certainly been 'tasked' for reward.
Not under formal employment, but he's saved Hyrule more times than most people can count.
Why would you out this into your M2 slot given you typically only have 1 or 2? If you need something if this size and performance, a regular SATA would suffice?
This is only good if you looking to make your start time faster by installing windows otherwise not useful for storage
make your start time faster
Hardly any difference to a standard SSD.
I agree. But for $29 a pop those aren't that bad.
So there's a speed difference between this and a 2.5" ssd?
Yes, SATA SSDs have a maximum speed of ~500 MB/s, while M.2 PCIe cards can hit 3-4 GB/s. Real world speed isn't noticeable for most people though and this Green drive probably won't reach anywhere near there.
@Hybroid: These drives do about 100MBs average writes, the drive would max out before the interface.
I guess my point is something like this; inhttps://www.centrecom.com.au/western-digital-wd-green-120gb-3d-nand-ssd-wds120g2g0a?gclid=CjwKCAjwxqX4BRBhEiwAYtJX7fYNh0L2XZfXw9XUvkAEsXClwZVH-eO9s2cuNYT7exlhhRs-A5sQJBoCzvgQAvD_BwE
Free up the M2 for an nvme
@Hybroid: This is a sata drive, so the question is between two identical sata drives of different form factors. Apologies if it wasn't clear.
@jp1011: The drive can be placed into a PCIe card for faster interface but as mentioned above, probably won't yield much benefit.
@Hybroid: Yeah this is no difference in performance than a 2.5" SSD. The only advantage is if you have a system which only takes SATA based M.2 SSD or you just don't want to use SATA cables.
@Hybroid: This one is a SATA SSD over M.2 connection, so no speed difference.
NVMe drives over M.2 are faster if the slot on your motherboard supports NVMe.
Sufficient for many NAS units as a cache drive.
Check your NAS drive to make sure it supports SATA SSD, some only support NVMe
I have a 2TB super fast one for windows and apps, and I leave about 1TB free for scratch disk. And another 1TB nvme drive, crucial P1, which I use just for OneDrive because that's where all project files go. With the gigabit connection to MS servers this solution is great, saves precious seconds and I don't have to hear the hard drive spin up anymore whenever I click OneDrive.
I want one for my raspberry pi. I just need the cheapest option lol.
Good for an office PC. No data storage and limited programs needed.
Same price at centrecom and you can do free collect

you can do free collect at umart too.
Has anyone put one of these into a case, to make a portable SSD? How did it go?
Case like this one, it looks a long USB drive:
https://www.banggood.com/M_2-NGFF-SSD-SATA-to-USB-3_0-Conver…I've put the 480gb/500gb blue version in a silverstone MS09 and it works great as a slightly larger fast thumb drive
I am green. Abu di abu da

All the ssds on the site seem to be on sale as well as adapters and external ssds.
240gb is $52 on amazon.

You can get it for less than that price at other retailers.
Umart closed most pickup stores in NSW -_-
"+ Delivery" is what ruins it for me, now it's the same price as many other stores. Good to note the SATA one is also at the same price.
Agreed.
I think it was $19 last November according to Price Hipster.
I'm picturing Cher straddling a Mark 7.
In what world does this drive have a RRP of $99 as the link?
Any 2.5" equiv ones?
Link doesn't work.
