  • -$9.95 discount over any $25 Orders?

Am I the only person who hates spending more than $30/kg for coffee beans?

    • nah mate count me in too ,30/kg is the max i would go ,thats why these days the only accepted deal for me would be manna bean packages.

    • +3

You honestly get what you pay for. Not to say every $50+/kg beans are worth it, but $30- beans almost always taste like that. I'd compare it to wine, you can get a cracking cheap bottle occasionally, and a shitty spenno one, but your chances of true quality are better if you spend more.

      • Have you tried Manna coffee?
If so, how would you rate it?
How much better could we expect for (insert good $50 coffee here)?
I have a Breville dual boiler and drink a Long Black and love manna beans, am mostly happy with Aldi single origin and both of them taste better than 90% of Long Black's I get in the shops.
I think that's more to do with the shops than anything, it seems very difficult to get a good long black, even from supposedly good establishments.

        • Does the Aldi stuff have a roasting date, I've tried it once when I ran out of fresh beans and it was pretty meh to be honest but I didn't check the roast date.

Manna stuff is good also Two Cracks who do the odd deal here. $37 a kg delivered from Margaret River, single origin and roast date usually 1 week before delivery.

          • @Luc:

Does the Aldi stuff have a roasting date

Roasting date is printed in reverse format (ie. 20200709 for today) underneath the best before date.

(I've yet to find one under 3 weeks, so I haven't actually purchased one yet - but apparently in high turnover stores, you can find them under 2 weeks)

  • How is the quality? Any feedbacks?

I can confirm this is great coffee, I just bought some before the discount and am considering buying more to stock up!

  • I was expecting an obligatory 'Free Covid with every purchase' reference.
