    Xiaomi Mi A3 good?

    • +2

      Yeah!

    • +4

      I love it.
Fast enough. Perfect size. Great camera with Gcam app. Stick Android 10 (after updating).
Main downsides are no NFC and the screen is not HD… But looks beautiful to me.
I dropped one in the pool and immediately rebought the same model.

      • +1

Yeah I don't understand the money being poured into a high resolution screen on a phone, like it's 6 inches why does it need to be 1440p? My 24" monitor isn't even 1440p.

    • A4 should be coming out this year. Already 1 year since launch therefore you only have 1 year of updates + 1 additional year of security patches. Considering Xiaomi Android one devices have always been between $200 - $300 you might want to wait.

  • The price for A3 seems to be increased

    Item price: AU $387.45
    -AU $58.12
    Your price: from AU $329.33

    • Can confirm that

    • +2

      Hi pdima,
Theres an additional discount thats applied at checkout as well to bring the price down, and then apply coupon P15LIGHT for the final price. Thanks

      • Didn't work for me, it prompts 'This code can't be used be applied to your order'

        • +1

Worked fine for me right now.
Got a final eBay invoice price of $289.82 :)

        • Hi onion111,

That's strange, which item have you added to cart and is your eBay account an eBay AU account? Thanks

          • @lyl: Mi A3. It may be the case, not originally an AU Account, but I've already change country and address now, still didn't work

            • @onin111:

              not originally an AU Account

Yeah that's usually the case when you get that error, please double check that eBay is set in AU and that your main address is also in AU, if still not working think may need to hit up eBay to get it resolved, or try with an account that's always been AU.

  • +1

Nice, great deal on the Mi A3

  • Is this better than iPhone 7 Plus?

    • Yes and no

    • Mostly no. Comparing an old flagship to an old budget phone

  • Xiaomi Mi A3 do it has NFC??? Does 128GB version comes with 6GB ram?

    • +2

      Hi Maxall,

Unfortunately no NFC and only 4GB RAM on the Mi A3. The Mi Mix 3 linked in this deal might be an alternative worth checking out with NFC and 6GB RAM.

  • The Oppo here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals still seems to be the better buy at a slightly cheaper price. Although the extra storage and Android One does make it tempting.

  • +1

    This or Pixel 2xl?

    • +1

No NFC on the mi a3 (no Google pay) and a way better camera on the pixel would have me lean toward that.
I just wish the battery was bigger on pixel phones.

      • This one is good but firmly in the budget category, I would have though you could get a mapping robot for this price (you can, maybe just not one this good).

Look up youtube vacuum wars eufy 11s

  • +1

Looking for robot vacuum. anyone know how good is eufy vacuum?

    • I'd also like to know this aswell, if these are comparable to the xiaomi roborock?

  • +1

Does the A3 have an IR sensor like the A1? Still using my A1 but looking to upgrade.
Also any chance it has B28? I’ve switched to Telstra and don’t have the best signal in the house so thought B28 might help.

Sorry, just found out A3 has both IR sensor and B28.

    • So did you get the A3?

      • No not yet. Need to run it by the boss.
I'm also looking at the Oppo 52A for similar price. IR vs NFC for me.

  • Xiaomi Mi A3 pricing:
    1. $289 + $29 GST,or
    2. $289 (GST inclusive)

    1. or 2.? Thanks.
  • doesn't A3 have a bad screen? I remember something like that mentioned in some reviews

    • +2

Not necessarily a bad one, 720p res sips juice in relative terms
      Screen Size: 6.088 Inches, 1560 x 720 Pixels

      • people complaining about this screen res are seriously annoying, it's basically a retina screen in the old apple measurement, that should be enough for anyone, and it will use less power and tax the gpu less also

        • Unless you bury your head into your phone you won't see pixels at all, I mean why are there 1080p monitors? It's all about pixel density, not resolution.

          • @Void: but marketing hype! Or there will be no reason to buy the Galaxy z99 and the iPhone ZS

            • @Jackson: Lol yeah I think there's going to be new phones with 4K displays. My 55" TV is 4K!

              • @Void: well 4K at 55" is obviously a terrible blur of pixels, like trying to watch tv through thick fog

might as well throw sand in your eyes for the same visual pleasure

      • I wasn't referring to resolution, I was referring to the quality of the OLED screen.

    • +1

It has a great screen. OLED on a mid range price phone. Not FHD though most people wouldn't even notice on a 6" screen.

      • I wasn't referring to screen resolution, just the quality of said OLED panel used. some people say A2 looks better than A3, fwiw

  • Whats warranty like ordering from Allphones through Ebay? Anyone have experience?

  • I'd be interested if only there was some real life reports on the phone's reception. We live over 5 klms from the Telstra/Optus tower, in a dip plus a colorbond roof. With our Huawei mate 10 we get three bars of LTE signal outside, but only one in the middle of the house. The other thing we need is the ability to ring loud as we don't have a fixed line phone here. Any help with this please.

    • +1

My understanding is that reception is mostly related to network and bands available on your phone.

This phone has access to all 4G Bands for Australian networks except for 850mhz (Vodafone).

Some phones may have a little bit better or worse reception related to the phone specifically but I think it would be nominal.

I'm referencing this page(whirlpool.net.au) for my information provided.

      • Thanks mate, I think you're correct in suggesting there's not a lot between phones reception-wise, but we (and visitors) have found that some phones hold a call, while others just drop out. The small difference in our home can be quite crucial.

  • Good price, bought one for my parent. Old generation like my parent would not need NFC.

  • Mi A3 is tempting me again.
I'd be more tempted if it wasn't that the A4 is supposed to come out in a few weeks.
I'll be sore if the A4 doesn't have a OLED screen like the A3. Still no official specs for the A4 unfortunately.

    • I'm on an A2 which security patches run out mid next year. Am looking forward to what the A4 might be. Pretty pointless buying A3 unless you desperately need a phone.

  • +2

This phone is coming up as AU $329.33 after 15% off now.

      Hi froodh

Unforuantely the last checkout discount was only for 3 days, I will review again to see if we can get it extended. I will keep you updated, thank you

      • Any good news on extension lyl?

        • Hi wiz187,

price jacked for the A3 rip

    • Hi Deepchild,

I managed to get an extension back for a few days, please check it out. Thank you!

  • I have an Ebay AU account and the A3 still comes out as $329.33 after the voucher code applied

  • +1

I got this phone yesterday from the Allphones offer. The aspect ratio's a bit strange tbh. It's more like a 5inch screen with an inch added to the bottom. The other negative is the slow data reception from the tower. On a test I got 6Mbps download speed from the Telstra tower. I then tested our Huawei 10 mate and it resolved the same test, from same location at 102Mbps. The Huawei is also a 6" phone but 16:9 and that shape clearly gives considerablr more screen real estate.

What I deduce from that is unlike with the Huawei there is no signal aggregation - where 2 or more different frequencies are combining signals. That said the phone works even in parts of the house other phones have suffered call drop outs.

I fully charged the battery at 9am today, switched off the data and sat it in it's cradle, received one short call and 12 hours later the battery shows 98%. The early signs are good, but I've found that battery meters had a lot in common with the car fuel gauge. They start above full and take ages to come down and then when they get to quarter full the last bit of juice disappears very rapidly.
