No afterpay in mobile phone category period.
Maybe coz seller doesn't want to 2-4% of the sale price taken away.
Is this be the best phone under $300? My Galaxy Note 5's battery is noticeably getting worse and that 5000mAh battery in the A52 is quite tempting.
I've had mine for about a month and the battery life is fantastic. I dont use it much but only have to charge it every 3rd day. I have the screen on about 35% brightness which is as easily good as my S6 Edge at 85%
does it have a notification led.
Last week I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 from Kogan for $239 based on it being the 2nd favourite phone by fans on gsmarena.com despite being released over a year ago. Sorry I don't mean to be a jerk but unfortunately I just checked Kogan and they're out of stock.
I bought my wife the a5 a couple of years ago, great iPhone knock off. Looking at this I think I talked her into getting an upgrade, review here for anyone interested pretty compelling

P15LIGHT looks like a swear word?
Isn't that what we all use our phones for, illumination in the dark?
Pretty good for a Snapdragon CPU and NFC at this price.
Good idea,.. but if you could give a link to an Australian made mobile phone we would appreciate it.
that's never going a happen.
"Vikjagron" What hope do us small consumers have when most Corporations set up shop in China so hence we
have lot less choice? And our politicians on all sides are allowing many Aussy farms and Water rights to overseas?
What are system / security update speeds like these days with oppo?
The A52 ships with A10/Color OS7, Mrs w's Reno Z updated from A9/COS 6 to the current versions on Monday. So a bit slow, but they happen.
Impressive. If only it wasn't so big… If anyone knows of any cheap small Android phones please let me know. I've been scouring eBay for an old se or 6s but can't find the right price considering the age.
FWIW it is a "big" screen, but it's because it's more of a tall screen, so it still fits pretty snug in your hand.
Of course to each their own, but coming from a smaller apixel 1 to this it didn't feel too big or anything :)
Ok might look into it a bit more. I guess it's got real thin bezels too. Thanks
Speaking of cheap small Android phones, reminds me of my first smart phone from nearly 10 years ago now, the Huawei U8150 with its tiny 2.8" screen. I think it cost me $199 back then, and forever set my average price target for smart phones around the $200 to $300 mark.
mi9se I believe its one of the best on the market in small sizes
rwt, thanks, but a 6inch phone is not small!?
I've literally given up that I'll ever get a small and not too expensive phone. I've been keeping an eye out for a couple years while my 5s gets really slow. I'm surprised there aren't a few smaller phone at least to cater for the minority that don't want a tablet in their pocket. Will just keep trying to get a OG SE or 6s, maybe one day pickup the new SE…
Does jb hifi or Officeworks price match these eBay deals?
Maybe. But generally they won't match discount codes/eBay deals.
Officeworks No
HN NO
GG No
JB on the odd occasion
Going to see if jb will this arvo
Any luck?
@DonIsGood: No luck at my local
I bought at JB yesterday @$299.
But I used about 20% discounted ultimate giftcard sold @ coles at the moment (finish on 7/7).
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/548427
Technically I bought it $240.
Firstly I looked this deal but they charged $13.80 shipping so I went to JB.
Is it worth upgrading from LG G6?
Recent review..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkWv279ogYA
bit the bullet. Got one. Thanks OP
Does this do VoWiFi and VoLTE?
Yep, sure does.
What do those actually do?
From what I understand, your phone usually swaps to 3G when you make/receive a call, but with VoLTE and VoWIFI, it stays on either 4G/WiFi so it will have a more reliable connection, as well as any background processes not being interrupted (such as downloads and whatnot)
@mangobango: So it's a signal booster, of sorts? Thanks.
@CrankyCarrot: Pretty much! VoWiFi is helpful if you don't have great reception somewhere but there's wifi available
Android One or much bloatware?
I bought one to use as a back up. Only used for one week and I'm quite happy with it.
Lucky I didn't buy the samsung
These are $299 at Good Guys, JB, Officeworks etc…. This deal with postage is circa $270, so only around 10% off from RRP which is ok but not that great!
That's what I was thinking. 10% off isn't the best.
I got from JB for $251, came to $226 after I factored in that the gift card I got for 10% off :)
Did you show them this deal? Or just general haggle? Thanks
Nope just asked for the best price they could do. The sales guy said $279 but I got 10% off that for the first responders promotion.
@harthagan: Why on earth wouldn't you mention that initially instead of just dropping the price you paid without the really significant qualifier?
@mickeyjuiceman: Well I was just sharing the receipt in the hope someone might be able to use it to get the same price. Not sure how that changes anything, but when asked, I explained it further.
So what are my chances of getting into the governments new defence initiative if I was rocking this phone? ;)
About 26.485%
Is the deal over? I see regular price $299 now! Coupon "P15LIGHT" is not working.
still working for me. I'm non-ebay plus member.
Still working for me too
Does anyone know how the A52 compares to the Oppo Reno Z?
Reno Z out of the box is quicker, however A52 isn't too far behind once you turn on performance mode. Reno Z better camera with standard cam software. Both have stellar battery life. Reno Z achilles heel is the Helio processor, means no APKs for improving camera performance - the A52 with GCam aces the Reno Z.
Thank you very much! Looking for an affordable phone for a family member with a good camera but the Reno Z seems hard to track down at the moment
Re gcam. I followed the link. Clicked on the link to download and nothing happens.
Obligatory Oppo comment: please never buy Oppo. The hardware is first rate but the OS is awful. Generally three to four steps behind the bog standard Android with extra crap and junk needlessly degrading the experience.
The phone in question may be ok on paper but you'll be frustrated and have buyers remorse. Even if they somehow fix the UI in the current model, your can be sure they will update it with features to ruin it next time around.
Owned several oppo phone and find the value for money is outstanding.
The OS has always been fine for me and I've never felt remorse when spending under $300 on a phone that will last more than 2 years. Anyway, it's not for everyone.
Ignoring price, which is better this or Samsung A31?
Are you also ignoring the comment on the first page where someone else asked the same question and it was answered?
So much easier to type stuff than to bother with actual reading, man…
Said a31 was buggy
Snappy vs Exynos
Gcam makes this better camera
AMOLED vs nice ips screen?
Mmm I think that's it
You mean vs MTK Hellio P65.
Camera hardware better on A31 dont think gcam will make A52 better.
128gb vs 64gb
As mentioned A31 better screen
Cpu/Gpu better on Oppo.
A31 $223.70 with casback less with giftcards also got $10 store credit with purchase. A52 $270+ with shipping can't use cashback.
Don't know what Allphones like re warranty etc but never had an issue with good guys.
My experience is good updates with Samsung devices can't speak to Oppo as never owned.
Nice so cheap! If I was in the market for a phone I'd get this one, but still rocking with my Mi9 SE
$14 shipping for me
$14 shipping for everyone. OP mentions + delivery cost… May as well say $270 save $28
Searched for comparison to an og pixel XL. Didn't have much luck. Anyone with real world experience can comment? Going to this would it be an upgrade?
Well I didn't have the XL Pixel but I came from a regular OG Pixel. Overall extremely happy with it, feels like a very nice upgrade.
Battery lasts forever, whereas my Pixel would need to be topped up around midway through the day and then charged overnight.
Screen is big and very clear, and performance is nice and snappy (if you turn on High Performance mode)
Especially as Google has stopped support for the OG line then this is a very solid purchase.
Thanks mate. Picked one up from JB but they woulnt budge on price. Have you put gcam on it?
Shame they wouldn't budge, did you have any discounted gift cards at least?
And yep, I've been using this one, seems to be the most stable:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_7.3.020_v1.…
This link is a direct download of the apk, but the main site has a whole bunch of ports so you can swap and change if you find an issue with this one :)
Would it be silly to buy this as a back up phone with 5G on the way?
For many people in areas that have zero 5G now and not much on the horizon till next year or longer,
this which has the B28 band will do fine.
How do these compare with a Moto G? Mine's a few years old but I love it. But getting near to replacement.
Biggest difference would be the Moto clean Android vs ColorOS without knowing what model Moto.
How is this phone compared to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S,I purchased from Aliexpress for A$253.70 still haven't shipped,Should I cancel the order and buy this one.
Yes
It says "This code can't be applied to your order"
Anyone getting this error?
No
No
Does anyone know if it has a notification led.
Nah it doesn't.
Curious to know if anyone has tried to get JB and/or Officeworks to match this? 🤔
I had no luck at JB but another did as per previous comments
I use the samsung a8 (2018) and I think the specs are quite similar bar the battery capacity; it's a great phone.
Oppo A52 doesn't have 4k 60fps video does it?…I'm looking for a budget phone with that spec. So far the cheapest I can manage is an iPhone 8 returbished for 350-400. Do you know if other budget (Oppo or not) phones have this? 4k 60fps is simply too smooth and clear to go back to 1080@60fps or 4k@30fps and youtube viewers appreciate this too. It's becoming the new gold standard.
Does anyone know how this compares to the new Samsung Galaxy A11? I know the Samsung costs more, but if price was no issue, which would you choose?
Does anyone compare this with TCL Plex??? Looks like a bargain as well at last jb promo $249 came with headphone.
Lithium polymer batteries? are they really safe enough for mobiles? I thought they were the ones that burnt houses down?
thanks OP!!
Sold out of black, rats! Yet again my tardiness has saved me money.
Anyone got thoughts on this versus the Moto G8 Plus?
A52 has a bigger battery, slightly better fast charging, and launched with Android 10.
Moto G8 Plus is still on Android 9 (even though it launched a month or so after 10 came out).
Aside from those they look like much of a muchness, only the Oppo is a fair bit cheaper.
Purchased one at JBHiFi for 254 price match.
Which store?
Got last one from, IN-STORE PURCHASE - JB HI-FI MACQUARIE NSW
Can you post the receipt?
Why isn't AfterPay available?
