  • Does anyone have experience with these? The in store examples look pretty crap.

…bought these when they were on sale for real cheap from spotlight before but wouldnt again.

main problems are ….if you trim/cut to custom size they fray over time and they also get dirty / stain quite easily too…good for a temporary solution but would be better to spend more for a long term fitting

  • cheers been thinking of getting something like this due to new units going up in perfect view of my home office

      Username, does not check out

  • Does these come with the roller thingies or just the blinds?

    • +2

From the description/contents it says it comes with 1 box of the roller thingies

Sorry for the noob question but does anyone know how to get these cut to size? Or how much that might cost. Got 15 windows in our house and not one of them is even close to a standard size.

Had to take a few cm off my roller blinds recently. Used a stanley knife to cut the fabric and hacksaw to cut the metal. Might take a while to do 15

…sound like you might need an actual blinds/curtain business to custom make you roller blinds. wouldnt want to manually cut back 15 of these as it takes time and theyre never as good when you trim them i.e. fraying etc

If you know your way around a knife and a hacksaw, you can easily do it yourself. I did a few of mine to fit internally to the window frame rather than mount it on the outside. Measure the width of your window frame, deduct the size of the fittings. Measure and cut the blind and roller

…how did you find the cut material edge in regards to fraying…? ive cut this particular brand of blind before and it frays like a bastard over time

The other option is to install them on the outside of the sill.

Blocks a little more light (usually) and you dont notice it as much as you think you will.

Spotlight has a service where you could pay them to trim the curtains to size for you.
They also sell the roller blind trim cutting kit in store for a few dollars (can't remember how much). But it's basically a small hacksaw and Stanley knife. If you plan to DIY the cuts, just measure each window opening and cut to size required using the Stanley knife and a long straight edge ruler or pencil it in, then trim with scissors.

  • Any idea if these could go outdoor - behind the kitchen window, under the sun. Just want to use it to keep the house insulated during extreme summers/winters.
If not this, any other cheaper recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    • …definitely not suitable for outdoors

  • This video from Spotlight looks like the same product, shows how to cut to size and install.
