I bought one thinking I could move the stands up and down with the handle like one of those ratchet socket wrench too but no, it's still manual and need to unlock by moving the handle up to adjust the height with your hands, and then move the handle back down to lock the height in place with the predetermined teeth on the support pole thingy(I dont know what that bits called). Basically it's an alternative method without pin as the locking mechanism but a flat triangular metal attached to the handle.
Avoid pin style stands and pay for ratcheting ones where possible - they are adjustable with 1 hand and are heaps faster to get to the right height.
